Can God Furnish A Table In The Wilderness? Text: Psalm 78:17-24

- By Deacon Olugbenga OLUMIDE

HE question from the above passage emanated from the original story in Numbers 11: 1-10. This is the story of the children of Israel as they journey to the promise land. God called Moses in Exodus chapter 3 and he promised to deliver them from the bondage in Egypt. He brought them out of Egypt with his strong and mighty hand and did a lot of miracles in the process that culminated in the dead of the first born in Egypt. They enjoyed sweet victory over their enemies. On their way out of Egypt, he parted the red sea for them, he turned the bitter water in marah to sweet water and gave them manna as food. Looking at God’s goodness over their life, one would have expected them to trust God absolutely with reservation, but that was not the case. Likewise in our own lives, God has called us out of the bondage of sin and has made us a partaker of his divine nature. We have seen and experienced his power at one point or the other in our Christian life. But there are certain times we doubt the ability of God to do certain things in our lives probably because we have fasted and prayed and there is no result. No matter the situation we may be going through, it is not beyond God, if only we can trust him absolutely. Jeremiah 32:17 and Luke 1:37 says there is nothing too difficult forour God to do. He can furnish a table right in the wilderness. What can make a Christian to make this kind of statement? 1.Lack of Knowledge of God A lot of Christian know about God but they lack experiential knowledge of God. No wonder the bible says in Hosea 4:6 “My people perish for lack of knowledge. In Psalms 103:7, the bible say God made his ways known unto Moses, while he made his acts known unto the children of Israel. In other words Moses had an experiential knowledge of God while others are just familiar with his acts such as parting the red sea, bring water from the rock etc. they only know of the miracles but they did not have a personal relationship with God. In John chapter 6, a lot of people were following Jesus not because they wanted to know more about him but because they wanted free lunch of bread and fish. The same applies to a lot of Christians today, they are in church not because they want to know more about God but because they want miracles, some because they want business connection, while some come just to socialise. The knowledge of God can be obtained when we study at the feet of Jesus just as Mary did in Luke 10:38-42. She was not satisfied with mere activities but she took time to study at the feet of the master. In order to have adequate knowledge of God, we must develop and habit of consistent study of the word of God. It is in the word of God that you will learn that delay is not denial and that you have need of patience after doing the will of God to receive the promise Hebrews 10:35-36. 2.Influence of the Mist Multitude. This can be sub-divided into two: a) Mist multitude are people that sow seed of doubt/un-believe in our hearts. This set of people are everywhere, in church, at home, in office etc. they make you to doubt the ability of God to do certain things. For instance, some people are not able to pass some examination not because they are not intelligent but because some people told them that it is impossible to pass the exam. Don’t listen to the voice of the multitude. Some of them may even discourage you from praying. They would say your case is a hopeless one just as they told blind Bartimaeus in Mark 10:46-52. b)The second set of mist multitudes are certain characters that we take along in our Christian race. Bible says Exodus 12:38 that when the children of Israel left Egypt, a mist multitude followed them and it was this same set of people that made them to murmur against God. Likewise there are certain characters that can limit or prevent the move of God in our lives. In Colossians 3:8. Paul said we should put of anger, wrath, malice, filthy communication etc. these are characters that that can prevent the move of God in our lives if they are not dealt with. Remember Moses was not able to enter the promise land because of anger. That anger limited want God actually wanted to do in his life. Great & Sweet Victories

ICTORY is defined as the act of defeating an enemy or opponent in a battle; game or other competition. There are great and small victories depending on the extent of the threat; the power of the attacker; the duration of the contest; the number of the foes; the weaponry used; etc. However, it’s not all victories that can be perceived as sweet. In the tenure of David’s reign over Israel, it happened that Absalom – one of his biological sons rose up against him and chased him out of the throne and the City of David. Father was living in caves and stronghold, while son was living in palace! Previous advisers and principal officers of David decamped from him and joined his son. Absalom also slept with his father’s wives and concubines in a tent with the public looking! The war was terrible, great and deadly. At the end of the war, David was granted victory by God as Absalom died a shameful death. However, it was a bitter victory for David as he wept and wailed for his dear son (2 Sam. 18:6-33). Several years before, David enjoyed a huge and sweet victory over the enemy of God’s people and a blasphemer against God – the Goliath of Gath. Goliath defied the Living God and intimidated the Israelites for 40 days, until David showed up on the scene. At the end of the contest, David slayed Goliath; the Israelites became champions and God’s name was glorified (I Sam. 17:1-54). David also became an in-law to King Saul; his family became rich; they were exempted from paying tax; and he became a commander in the army. In this month of October, God will grant us in Everlasting Father’s Assembly great and sweet victories. We will rejoice after engagement with any opposition; we will celebrate over every ‘battle’ confronting us. We will triumph in any game or competition we encounter. We will subdue any situation in Jesus name. Pastor Samuel Obafaiye

WAS meditating recently to find out from God what will be our theme for 2013. There were certain challenges I saw in 2012 that I was asking God to completely eradicate in the next. God answered and said, "All covenanted ministries (whether individual or church) will hit major storm in their 3rd year. If the ministry escapes that by grace, a greater storm will come against it in its 6th year. If the ministry equally escapes the double storm, it will then qualify for the blessings of the 7th year”. For us in Everlasting Father's Assembly, there were storms that we went through at three years. To the glory of God, we escape them all. Also at six years, thank God for all the astounding accomplishments that we have enjoyed, we also escaped double storms. Glory be to God! So I asked God, since we have escaped the sixth year, what is the blessing of the seventh year? He took me back to the creation of the world. He said, ‘What did the bible says I did on the seventh day’? And I said that You rested from Your labours. So, God said "2013 is your year of My rest". Note that it is the God's rest, not our kind of rest. The bible says that God does not sleep nor slumber (Ps. 121:4). So it's not a rest of sleep. Neither is it of folding of hands. It is a rest from excessive labours and entering into excessive favours. The seventh day was a time when God stopped creating on this earth, but switched to watching over what He has created. In 2013, God will help us to look after what He has created for us and through us. We will supervise and oversee machinery that will run itself. Every system that God has helped us to create will begin to work for us. Grace will supersede haste. There was a time when the Israelites were fighting Canaan, the Israelites were outnumbered. So God began to use constellations to fight for them (Judges 5:20). God will assign hosts of heaven to work for us in 2013 By Pastor Samuel Obafaiye

Year of Signs & Wonders FOR INDIVIDUALS: 1. No matter the darkness around you, your star will shine brighter. 2. God says, He will speak peace to your storms 3. Certain individuals have been stagnated for sometimes, the reasons for your stagnation will become known, will be addressed and will be eliminated, therefore progress will follow. 4. In many senses of the word, this year will be of completeness. FOR NIGERIA: 1. The prayers of some of you minimized death of prominent Nigerians last year, don’t stop praying. 2. Before the middle of the year, many will say hope rising. 3. Learn from disasters of 2012 and take precaution soonest to avert bigger ones.. INTERNATIONAL: 1. The Lord says prominent world leaders need a lot prayers so as not to die in office. 2. Prominent Church leaders need prayers against planned scandals. 3. Weather conditions may get worse, much worst, unless prayers are intensified. 4. We should expect a major breakthrough in medicine this year. 5. Nations who pass unholy laws will have a taste of divine fury. By Pastor Enoch Adeboye (Gen. Overseer RCCG Worldwide)
