How to be Successful Text: 2 Kings 6:25-27, 7:1-3

- By Brother Samuel Edoho

HE bible made us to understand that the recession the world is experiencing today is not a new thing. The recession has always been there (2kings 6:25:-There was a great famine in the city). But the good news is that God always make a way for His people and He will made a way for all the young people in this church in Jesus Name. Everyday, we read articles about recession and youth unemployment and you ask yourself what we are going to do. The Word of God is so enrich with facts, wisdom and principles about life and I’m going to share with you today some of those principles PRINCIPLE 1 – Make God your source The first principle to success is that you must make God your source. It is very important because God is the one that knows the beginning and the end. The bible recorded that everything was made and created by God (Genesis 1: 26-28), so He knows the entire unfamiliar success path that you don’t know. Genesis 1: 28 made it so clear about God’s intention for us- "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground. God expects us to succeed in everything but for us to be successful in life we need to recognise God as our source. So how can we make God our source? - You must be born again - Matthew 6:33- But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 2 Corinthians 9:8 says: "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. Philippians 4:19 - "My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. When you seek the Kingdom of God first, God is able to provide everything you need. The scriptures made us to understand that Our God is an “all inclusive God” (2 Corinthians 9:8; Philippians 4:19)… He will provide for you in Jesus Name. - You must learn to trust God: Proverb 3: 5-6: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Lamentations 3:24: The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. As young people/singles we must learn how to trust in God. Trusting God in other word is like “chilling”, relaxing in God, irrespective of the challenges, pressure, situations etc we faced as young people. PRINCIPLE 2: RIGHT PLANNING Planning is thinking ahead. Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts shall be established.” The scripture instruct us to commit our works first not our thoughts first. When you commit your works first to God, He gives you more insight, understanding and established yours thoughts (Psalm 119:99, Proverbs 16:3). 2 Corinthians 5:7 –for we work be faith, not by sight. Jeremiah 29: 11- God speaking said -For I know the plans, I have for you, declare the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. The Bible confirms this principle when it says, in Proverbs 21:5 “The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.” Committing your works into God’s hand is like aligning your plans into God’s original plan for your life; it's like asking Him to show you His master plan for your life; it is a way of telling God this is my own plan, however your original plan for my life supersede my individual plan. If your works matches God’s plan for your life, then it shall be established, if not, God will provide you with a better plan and your thoughts shall be established in Jesus Name. PRINCIPLE 3: YOU MUST LEARN TO WORK HARD & WORK SMART Matthew 7:24-27 – (The Wise and Foolish Builders): the Bible made us to understand that the wise and foolish builders were given equal grounds to build on; theiro be successful as single or young person, you need to work hard and work smart. HIGHER GROUND I’m pressing on the upward way, New heights I’m gaining every day; Still praying as I’m onward bound, “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.” Lord, lift me up and let me stand, By faith, on Heaven’s table land, A higher plane than I have found; Lord, plant my feet on higher ground. My heart has no desire to stay Where doubts arise and fears dismay; Though some may dwell where those abound, My prayer, my aim, is higher ground. I want to live above the world, Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled; For faith has caught the joyful sound, The song of saints on higher ground. I want to scale the utmost height And catch a gleam of glory bright; But still I’ll pray till Heav’n I’ve found, “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Resounding Joy

ESOUNDING as related to this theme will be defined as ‘clear and emphatic; enormous; unmistakable huge; massive; very great; tremendous; terrific; colossal; total’. While joy could be define as ‘the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying; keen pleasure; elation’. In life we experience variations of joy. While some are small and could be hidden, resounding joys are however huge and vivid. God promised Abraham and Sarah that they would become father and mother of nations, but they were childless at 75 years and 65 years respectively. At a later time in their lives, a child called Ishmael came along in disobedience, instead of this development to be a joyous one; it was bitterness and sadness it brought (Gen. 16: 1-7; 21: 9-14). At age 100 and 90, they both had the Promised Child, it was a time of resounding joy for them. Abraham called all the neighbouring settlements and made a great feast. It was an elation that couldn’t be mistaken or hidden (Gen. 21:1-8). In this month of November, God has promised us in Everlasting Father’s Assembly a time of tremendous and unmistakable joy and delight. We will be filled with great elation; and things that are exceptional good will come our way in Jesus name. Pastor Samuel Obafaiye

WAS meditating recently to find out from God what will be our theme for 2013. There were certain challenges I saw in 2012 that I was asking God to completely eradicate in the next. God answered and said, "All covenanted ministries (whether individual or church) will hit major storm in their 3rd year. If the ministry escapes that by grace, a greater storm will come against it in its 6th year. If the ministry equally escapes the double storm, it will then qualify for the blessings of the 7th year”. For us in Everlasting Father's Assembly, there were storms that we went through at three years. To the glory of God, we escape them all. Also at six years, thank God for all the astounding accomplishments that we have enjoyed, we also escaped double storms. Glory be to God! So I asked God, since we have escaped the sixth year, what is the blessing of the seventh year? He took me back to the creation of the world. He said, ‘What did the bible says I did on the seventh day’? And I said that You rested from Your labours. So, God said "2013 is your year of My rest". Note that it is the God's rest, not our kind of rest. The bible says that God does not sleep nor slumber (Ps. 121:4). So it's not a rest of sleep. Neither is it of folding of hands. It is a rest from excessive labours and entering into excessive favours. The seventh day was a time when God stopped creating on this earth, but switched to watching over what He has created. In 2013, God will help us to look after what He has created for us and through us. We will supervise and oversee machinery that will run itself. Every system that God has helped us to create will begin to work for us. Grace will supersede haste. There was a time when the Israelites were fighting Canaan, the Israelites were outnumbered. So God began to use constellations to fight for them (Judges 5:20). God will assign hosts of heaven to work for us in 2013 By Pastor Samuel Obafaiye

Year of Signs & Wonders

FOR INDIVIDUALS: 1. No matter the darkness around you, your star will shine brighter. 2. God says, He will speak peace to your storms 3. Certain individuals have been stagnated for sometimes, the reasons for your stagnation will become known, will be addressed and will be eliminated, therefore progress will follow. 4. In many senses of the word, this year will be of completeness. FOR NIGERIA: 1. The prayers of some of you minimized death of prominent Nigerians last year, don’t stop praying. 2. Before the middle of the year, many will say hope rising. 3. Learn from disasters of 2012 and take precaution soonest to avert bigger ones.. INTERNATIONAL: 1. The Lord says prominent world leaders need a lot prayers so as not to die in office. 2. Prominent Church leaders need prayers against planned scandals. 3. Weather conditions may get worse, much worst, unless prayers are intensified. 4. We should expect a major breakthrough in medicine this year. 5. Nations who pass unholy laws will have a taste of divine fury. By Pastor Enoch Adeboye (Gen. Overseer RCCG Worldwide)

That Your Joy Might Be Full

You are welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We really appreciate your presence. May the Lord visit and bless you.

By Pastor Samuel OBAFAIYE

HERE are several passages in the scriptures that speak about fullness of joy. God does not just want us to experience joy, but He wants us to be full of joy. This message is to challenge us further in order that our joy might be full. John 15:11 - These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. Jesus had spoken to the disciples about abiding in His love and that by keeping His commandments, their joy will be full. John 16:24 - Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. Again Jesus told the disciples that if they asked His Father anything in His name, those things will be done, and their joy will be full. 1 John 1:4 - And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete. John was writing that the understandingly of Jesus being the Word of life, and having fellowship with God through Jesus Christ does bring a fullness of joy. In Psychology, we are taught that one could derive happiness in three ways: Be engaged in doing something; Be engaged in loving someone; and Be engaged in looking forward to something great. Interestingly, the scripture corroborates this as there are instances in the bible we can refer to which leads to joy because of these three ways. Engaging in doing something As Christians we can derive joy in what we do. There are certain deeds that bring joy to our hearts. The bible tells us that Jesus was taking for a census in His province by His earthly parents, on their way back, He was found to be missing. After three days journey, His parents had to go back to Nazareth to look for Him. Surprisingly, He was found in the Temple, listening, to, asking and answering questions from bible scholars! When His parents told Him how they had suffered looking for Him, His answer to them was remarkable. Luke 2:48-49 And when his parents saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?” Jesus was having joy in what He was doing, at twelve years old, to the extent that He wasn't perturbed about His parents’ absence for three days! Do you derive joy in what you are doing? Do you know that you can be a brother of sister of Jesus? Will that make you joyous? Matthew 12:46-50 While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” Excerpts of a sermon by Pastor Samuel OBAFAIYE on November 17th, 2013 at RCCG EFA York.
