T

HE word of the Lord to the body of Christ in this age is that we should worship God. What is worship? It means to regard something or someone with deep respect and affection. To worship God is to regard the person of God with much respect and affection. It’s not good enough to know God alone but to regard and respect Him for who we know Him to be . For instance We know God to be our Father because Jesus taught in Matthew 6:9 to refer to God as our Father in heaven – But according to Malachi 1:6: We’re worshippers of God not when we know God as our Father and our master but when we honour Him as our father and fear Him as our master. Isaiah 9:6 says God is: Wonderful – God is wonderful because He performs wonders – and Psalm 71:17 says “O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.” Hence, It is not knowing God as wonderful alone that makes us worshippers of God, but when we know Him as wonderful and also declare His wondrous works – rather than being too quick to declare (show off) our material values and possessions. We often sing the praises of people for who they are and for their achievements whereas we may be silent to declare the wondrous work of God; this doesn’t make us worshippers of God. Counsellor – Proverbs 19:21 says “there are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD that shall stand.” It is good to know God as the Counsellor but we are His worshippers only when we allow His Counsel to stand in our lives no matter what. In Luke 22:42, Jesus overcame the temptation of negating the counsel of God by saying ‘nevertheless, not my will but yours…’ otherwise he would have bowed to the devil. The Mighty God – Psalm 150:2 says “Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.” We can see ourselves as worshippers when we praise His mightiness rather than praising our achievements. The Prince of Peace – Hebrew 12:14 says “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” Our daddy in the Lord, Daddy G. O., told us a story about how he was going to give fire for fire to those who were against his being the general overseer. And then he was reminded of the name: the Prince of Peace. He was also asked a question: if he was the son of the Prince of Peace why would he want to be involved in any kind of trouble? We’re worshippers of God when we live in peace with people. Is there any benefit when we worship God? According to John 4:23 – God will come looking for you, not just to bless you but to enrol you in the list of those He can entrust with divine assignments, with power. And as well, in the list of those He can confide in. Examples: - Abraham – God said shall I hide anything from Abraham?… (Genesis 18:17). God will not hide anything from you again in Jesus name. Abraham worshipped God to the extent that God could not hide anything from him. The grace to worship God to this extent, the Lord will give unto us in Jesus name. Samuel – in 1 Samuel 3:19, it was said of Samuel that God did not allow his words to fall to the ground unfulfilled. As you make up your mind to worship God, your prayers shall no longer be redirected to a voice mail box in Jesus name. Joshua – in Joshua 10:12-14, Joshua commanded the sun to stand still and the Lord approved it. As you make up your mind to worship God, the Lord will hearken to your voice henceforth in Jesus name. Finally, words of instruction from these scriptures… Deuteronomy 11:16 “Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;” / Jeremiah 25:6 “And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.” P r a y e r p o i n t s Father, come and take your place in my life – Romans 12:1-3 Father, help me to set my affection on things that are above – Colossians 3:1-5 Excerpts of a sermon delivered by Pastor Yomi JOLAOLUWA on 22 December, 2013. SCAPE can be defined as: to break loose from confinement; or to avoid a serious or unwanted outcome. In Acts 12:6-16, the bible talks of how James the brother of a John was beheaded by Herod. When he discovered that it pleased the Jews, he locked up Peter to be executed also. He was waiting for the Passover Feast to be over before Peter's execution. He however did not leave out any chance for his escape. Peter was locked in an inner cell with several gates before the main gate. He was been guarded by 16 soldiers who were taking turns in twos every hour. Amidst all these security proofs, God assigned an angel to go and free Peter. The angel entered, smote Peter at the side, caused the chain to fall off, asked Peter to dress up and led him through the gates to the street without anyone noticing. Peter was shocked at his own escape; the church was equally amazed. The year 2013 was supposedly forecasted by experts to be an unfriendly year in the natural sense. To say that many unfriendly things happened worldwide is rather evident. Thank God for His grace that preserved us. Spiritually, there were many things the devil had lined up against us in particular as children of God that never happened. Thank God for sending His angels to deliver us at such times. The month of December shall be for us a further time of great escape from all premeditated and circumstantial evils of 2013 in Jesus name. Pastor Samuel Obafaiye

CONGREGATIONAL HYMN MY FAITH HAS FOUND A RESTING PLACE My faith has found a resting place My faith has found a resting place, Not in device or creed; I trust the ever living One, His wounds for me shall plead. Refrain I need no other argument, I need no other plea, It is enough that Jesus died, And that He died for me. Enough for me that Jesus saves, This ends my fear and doubt; A sinful soul I come to Him, He’ll never cast me out. THE RCCG (EVERLASTING FATHER’S ASSEMBLY) 2013 PROPHECY. THEME: OUR YEAR OF GOD’S REST Isaiah 65: 21-24, Isaiah 14:1-4

WAS meditating recently to find out from God what will be our theme for 2013. There were certain challenges I saw in 2012 that I was asking God to completely eradicate in the next. God answered and said, "All covenanted ministries (whether individual or church) will hit major storm in their 3rd year. If the ministry escapes that by grace, a greater storm will come against it in its 6th year. If the ministry equally escapes the double storm, it will then qualify for the blessings of the 7th year”. For us in Everlasting Father's Assembly, there were storms that we went through at three years. To the glory of God, we escape them all. Also at six years, thank God for all the astounding accomplishments that we have enjoyed, we also escaped double storms. Glory be to God! So I asked God, since we have escaped the sixth year, what is the blessing of the seventh year? He took me back to the creation of the world. He said, ‘What did the bible says I did on the seventh day’? And I said that You rested from Your labours. So, God said "2013 is your year of My rest". Note that it is the God's rest, not our kind of rest. The bible says that God does not sleep nor slumber (Ps. 121:4). So it's not a rest of sleep. Neither is it of folding of hands. It is a rest from excessive labours and entering into excessive favours. The seventh day was a time when God stopped creating on this earth, but switched to watching over what He has created. In 2013, God will help us to look after what He has created for us and through us. We will supervise and oversee machinery that will run itself. Every system that God has helped us to create will begin to work for us. Grace will supersede haste. There was a time when the Israelites were fighting Canaan, the Israelites were outnumbered. So God began to use constellations to fight for them (Judges 5:20). God will assign hosts of heaven to work for us in 2013 By Pastor Samuel Obafaiye

Year of Signs & Wonders

FOR INDIVIDUALS: 1. No matter the darkness around you, your star will shine brighter. 2. God says, He will speak peace to your storms 3. Certain individuals have been stagnated for sometimes, the reasons for your stagnation will become known, will be addressed and will be eliminated, therefore progress will follow. 4. In many senses of the word, this year will be of completeness. FOR NIGERIA: 1. The prayers of some of you minimized death of prominent Nigerians last year, don’t stop praying. 2. Before the middle of the year, many will say hope rising. 3. Learn from disasters of 2012 and take precaution soonest to avert bigger ones.. INTERNATIONAL: 1. The Lord says prominent world leaders need a lot prayers so as not to die in office. 2. Prominent Church leaders need prayers against planned scandals. 3. Weather conditions may get worse, much worst, unless prayers are intensified. 4. We should expect a major breakthrough in medicine this year. 5. Nations who pass unholy laws will have a taste of divine fury. By Pastor Enoch Adeboye (Gen. Overseer RCCG Worldwide)

FROM RCCG EFA YORK

In Reflection, Bless The Lord By Dr. Abayomi SANUSI

NEW HERE TODAY? You are welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We really appreciate your presence. May the Lord visit and bless you. Please wait behind after the service so the Pastor can pray with you. We hope to see you again.

Romans 15:13- Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. HE year is drawing to a conclusion. There is a lot of festivity around. As Christians and grateful human beings we reflect on the goodness of God on our lives. Our approach and attitude to the festive season is deeper. It goes beyond the traditional social congregation and the exchange of presents. Our understanding and reference to the festive season is not based on adverts, television or the print media. Also, our impression of the outgoing year, and perception of the festivities are based on God’s word. Our reflection is two-fold. Psalm 103 is a representation of our reflection on the year. We express our gratitude to God, blessing God from the depths of our souls. In reflecting on the festive season we thank God for what He has done to achieve the eternal salvation of our souls. Everything is in the perspective of the Christian's perpetual follower-ship of God and eternal destination. In the exhortation from Romans 15:13 (Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost) , Paul was reverting to quote a prophesy from Isaiah. [ Isaiah 11 verses 1 and 10, and verses 2-9.] The prophesy was of a perfect man, with a perfect attitude, perfect understanding, perfect knowledge, perfect record, perfect righteousness, with perfect solutions to every problem, and with the power to bring about a perfect situation. He is the perfect hope for not only the believer but also for the entire humanity. No wonder the sudden appearance of surprising language at the latter end of a prophetic paragraph-Isaiah 9.1-7when ‘unto us a child was born’! This is relevant in case you have not had an entirely perfect year in any aspect of your life: education, health, work, job, expectations, goals, aspirations, financially. Or if you have been less than enthused by politics, status quo, rules and regulations, unfair or unholy policies, imperfect relationships! Unto us a child is born, child given…… Let your hope be in the power and abilities of the Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, The everlasting Father, Prince of peace, through the power of the Holy Spirit. In effect it is essential to put things in perspective, and understand that REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE OUTGOING YEAR HAS BEEN LIKE, OR HOW OUR PERCEPTION OF THIS FESTIVE PERIOD HAS SHAPED OUT God is with us always (like He promised), and wants to continue to work in our lives through His Holy Spirit; so we can continue to be joyful and live in abundance of peace, as we strive for Him to achieve His plans. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year .
