FROM THE PULPIT
Text: Gen. 26: 18-33 - By Revd. J.O. ADEBOYE
SAAC dug wells that his father had dug before in order to give their flocks and family to drink. Just like you need certain things that your family require. When the first well was dug, as soon as reached water, the Philistine heard and came to possess it. They claimed that the well belonged to them and so Isaac called it Esek and left it for them. Esek means contention; strive; quarrel. Are you here and men are quarrelling with you over what God has given you? Don’t be afraid, the Bible says, “whatever the Lord doeth, it shall be forever”. There is no man that can add or subtract from it. I declare that the blessings of God upon your life to be irreversible in Jesus name. Every attempt of men to reverse your blessings be met with the Divine judgement of God. Your blessings will be permanent in Jesus name. Isaac experience contentions, strive, and quarrel on the fruit of his own effort. So he left if for the Philistines and dug another well. Surprisingly, the Philistines came after Isaac struck water and claimed that the well belong to them again. Then Isaac gave it a name and called the place Sitnah, which means hatred, jealous, enmity, accusation. I don’t know if you are going through any of these for no just cause. May be people just hate you for no reason, they are jealous of you or make themselves your enemy for no just reason. Perhaps they even point fingers of accusations at you, saying that you did things you have not done. God will deliver you from them in Jesus name. Isaac had battles to fight, but God made him to triumph. The good news I bring to you this day is that whatever the contentions of men, their jealousy and hatred against your life; or even false accusations against your destiny; you will triumph in Jesus name. Isaac moved away from there and dug another well. This time God didn’t let the Philistine strive with him. So it was that ‘contention’ became tired and ceased. God weakened the ability of the men of Philistine to fight with Isaac. The Almighty is going to incapacitate your adversaries in Jesus name. all those that use darkness as cover and shoo arrows of trouble, impossibility, limitations into your life, the Almighty will break their power and their arrows will be destroyed by the fie of the Holy Ghost. The name of the new well was called Rehoboth, which means spacious, roomy, enlargement. That is where God is taking you to in Jesus name. Nobody will contend with you with your ‘well’ in Jesus name. God will enlarge you and Everlasting Father’s Assembly in Jesus name. They were also given the promise of fruitfulness by God. God added another well to them and Isaac called it Sheba, which means good fortune, fullness, satisfaction, abundance. Peradventure you had been under any ill luck; God will turn all those ill luck to good fortune in Jesus name. Every power working against your head to be destroyed by God. May all misfortune attached to your life be changed to fortune in Jesus name. May God satisfy you with His goodness and abundance. There are some here that their eyes had seen many evil in life; I prophesy to you that from today, you will only see God’s glory, goodness and greatness in Jesus name. Things can only get better from now on for you. The life of David was similar to that of Isaac. He had a great destiny. He enjoyed three fold ministries: a warrior; a king and a Psalmist to God. He however had a lot of battles to fight in life. In Psalm 120:2, he said the sort of people that gathered around him. May be you have been surrounded by lying lips and deceitful tongues. People speak evil propaganda against you to malign your integrity and character. Possibly people you have been a blessing to have been sponsored to lie against you. The Lord will wipe away the effect of such from your life. May every arrow of evil repayments against you be destroyed by the Blood of Jesus. For every man that is supposed to your friend that has turned against you, God will raise people in their stead in Jesus name. In Psalm 120:6-7, David lived among those who hate peace. When he is speaking peace, the people wanted war. Is it your spouse or children that is speaking war against you like David experienced? God will change the situation for you. May be its friends that are doing that to you. May God reverse the trend. You will no longer drink from the cup of affliction and bitterness; rather you will drink from the cup of God’s goodness and mercy in Jesus name. The Not Sleeping God
LEEPING is something that virtually all living organism observe. Humans, animals and even plants (stomata) do sleep. Through sleep, zoological organism’s lost energy is replenished; the brain gets to rest; dead tissues are replaced; physical growth is experienced; etc. It is interesting to note that gods do sleep as well! In the land of Egypt, when Moses and Aaron were declaring the power of God by bringing down plaques upon the people, the Bible said the magician of Egypt would replicate the same thing too. But when it came to the third plaque of lice, the gods of Egypt went to sleep (Ex. 8:16-19). Also at the contest on Mount Carmel, when Elijah was faced with the 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah; the God that would send fire from the sky and consume their prepared sacrifice was to be acclaimed God by all! The prophet of Baal agreed to the contest because they believed their god would send the fire or has sent such fire before. Unfortunately, on that fateful day, Baal was asleep. So it happened that the God of Elijah was acclaimed the Living God (I Kings 18:18-39). Psalm 121:4 tells us that the God of Israel does not sleep nor slumber. This is great news to us who believe in this God. It means that we are enjoying 24/7 heavenly surveillance and nothing can happen to us that is unknown to God. In this month of May, the Almighty God will be very active in our lives; He will not let anything bad happen to us; He will also answer us promptly whenever we call upon Him in Jesus name. THE RCCG (EVERLASTING FATHER’S ASSEMBLY) 2013 PROPHECY. THEME: OUR YEAR OF GOD’S REST Isaiah 65: 21-24, Isaiah 14:1-4
WAS meditating recently to find out from God what will be our theme for 2013. There were certain challenges I saw in 2012 that I was asking God to completely eradicate in the next. God answered and said, "All covenanted ministries (whether individual or church) will hit major storm in their 3rd year. If the ministry escapes that by grace, a greater storm will come against it in its 6th year. If the ministry equally escapes the double storm, it will then qualify for the blessings of the 7th year”. For us in Everlasting Father's Assembly, there were storms that we went through at three years. To the glory of God, we escape them all. Also at six years, thank God for all the astounding accomplishments that we have enjoyed, we also escaped double storms. Glory be to God! So I asked God, since we have escaped the sixth year, what is the blessing of the seventh year? He took me back to the creation of the world. He said, ‘What did the bible says I did on the seventh day’? And I said that You rested from Your labours. So, God said "2013 is your year of My rest". Note that it is the God's rest, not our kind of rest. The bible says that God does not sleep nor slumber (Ps. 121:4). So it's not a rest of sleep. Neither is it of folding of hands. It is a rest from excessive labours and entering into excessive favours. The seventh day was a time when God stopped creating on this earth, but switched to watching over what He has created. In 2013, God will help us to look after what He has created for us and through us. We will supervise and oversee machinery that will run itself. Every system that God has helped us to create will begin to work for us. Grace will supersede haste. There was a time when the Israelites were fighting Canaan, the Israelites were outnumbered. So God began to use constellations to fight for them (Judges 5:20). God will assign hosts of heaven to work for us in 2013 . By Pastor Samuel Obafaiye
THE RCCG (WORLDWIDE) 2013 PROPHECY
Year of Signs & Wonders
FOR INDIVIDUALS: 1. No matter the darkness around you, your star will shine brighter. 2. God says, He will speak peace to your storms 3. Certain individuals have been stagnated for sometimes, the reasons for your stagnation will become known, will be addressed and will be eliminated, therefore progress will follow. 4. In many senses of the word, this year will be of completeness. FOR NIGERIA: 1. The prayers of some of you minimized death of prominent Nigerians last year, don’t stop praying. 2. Before the middle of the year, many will say hope rising. 3. Learn from disasters of 2012 and take precaution soonest to avert bigger ones.. INTERNATIONAL: 1. The Lord says prominent world leaders need a lot prayers so as not to die in office. 2. Prominent Church leaders need prayers against planned scandals. 3. Weather conditions may get worse, much worst, unless prayers are intensified. 4. We should expect a major breakthrough in medicine this year. 5. Nations who pass unholy laws will have a taste of divine fury. By Pastor Enoch Adeboye (Gen. Overseer RCCG Worldwide)
CONGREGATIONAL HYMN COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed, When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done. Refrain Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your blessings, see what God hath done! Count your blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done. Are you ever burdened with a load of care? Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear? Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly, And you will keep singing as the days go by. Refrain When you look at others with their lands and gold, Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold; Count your many blessings. Wealth can never buy Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high . Refrain So, amid the conflict whether great or small, Do not be disheartened, God is over all; Count your many blessings, angels will attend, Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end. Text: Psalm 30.5b, Isaiah 43.1-7, 2 Tim 4. 5,18, 2 Cor 4.17-18 Job 42.1-6, 10-17
- By Doctor Abayomi SANUSI
thank God for the reassurance that God who neither slumbers nor sleep remains concerned and interested in the affairs of His children. Our responsibility is to remain focused on His pleasures, strive hard to please Him, assured we shall never be disappointed There will always be struggles, challenges, ups and downs in the journey of life. There is no biblical promise that the Christian race would be entirely smooth, and without confrontation from sundry adversaries including spiritual ones. We should learn to accept the reality of difficulties, and summon the relevant help needed in tackling them. Keeping our focus clearly defined makes our efforts easier. Jesus only is the focus of the Christian! In tackling the challenges as we walk our master’s path, and do his bidding, we must follow his command and refuse to yield to the pressures of the world, Satan, and sin. We already know the eventual outcome of the many challenges, troubles and afflictions that will confront us as we remain righteous. Psalm 34.19 Take heed to your well-being and progress if every aspect of your life and each of your endeavours are always smooth and easy. Dangers lurk if you seem to face no serious challenges. The normal life encounters storms, difficulties and challenges. If you’re normal, ‘You’re either in a storm, coming out of one, or just about to enter into one’. What is important is entering into every storm with God by your side. Remember the three Hebrew children! They consciously decided to obey and honour God rather than mingle with the system and preserve their privileges and positions of favour. They however were prepared to lose everything even if God somehow had ‘slumbered and not come to their rescue’, or chosen not be in the midst of the fire with them! In Isaiah 43.1-7 God through David His servant explicitly spelled out the precondition that you have to be called by His name. David understood that God was in involved in his life regardless of the nature of the sins, sorrows, pains, even joys and triumphs. He recognised and acknowledged that God was in control of his life and every situation. Psalm 30.1-5. This was a man who knew something about God. Whatever he knew personally about God, he fervently held on to. What ever he hung on to he never let go of! Do you know something about God which you personally hang on to? Like David do you know God is in control? Examples Job had the same attitude, and knew something about God. Job knew something about hanging on to the truth, even though you may not know all the correct answers. He underwent serious life-changing afflictions so severe that his faith, confidence, and resolve to continue believing in God’s abilities, faithfulness and promises could have been compromised. Although Job was unable to explain or rationalise everything happening in his life, he chose to hang on to the word of God he knew. He kept it simple. He knew some basic facts about God and hung on to them. His night of affliction regardless or the taste of eventual relief whenever it eventually turned up: this man of faith resolved in his heart that God was still in control simply because God said so! Nehemiah was another example of someone who knew something about God. He was personally privileged and physically comfortable, in a position within the palace of a king whom he directly served. His heart was aggrieved by the state of God’s people and God’s city. By the desolation of the temples, sepulchres, and various symbols of Judah. Believing that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob would be his real help, he used his influence, position and understanding of the system to do the work of God. Whatever knowledge he had about God, Nehemiah hung on tightly to. He knew God was ultimately in control. In 2 Timothy Chapter 4, Paul appeared to be writing in a hurry. It seemed like he had so much to say but not enough space to compress everything into. In verse 5 we are encouraged to endure afflictions and adverse situations such that our work for God remains perfect.
