The President’s Club “Redcoats” celebrated the events of December with the ILEA Reception; our annual Christmas Party; Business After Hours at Holiday Inn and the Ribbon Cutting at Progressive Residential Services (PRS). We know that December was a busy month for all of us; so, we would like to thank all the Chamber members for allowing their employees the time off to attend the various functions. The 2013 Christmas Season brought thoughts of the Christmas Story, which I would like to relate to you by my own mother’s words: “Away in a manger, many centuries ago, lay a small baby boy no one seemed to know. But out in the fields to shepherds watching their flock, an “Angel” appeared saying – “fear not”. After hearing a heavenly host, proclaiming Glory to God in the highest and on earth good will toward men. They quickly to the City did ascend. Because of this true story related each year, we to can rejoice when the Christmas Season is near”. The Redcoats would like to ‘Thank’ the Chamber businesses for allowing us to share with you during your special events this past year and would like to wish everyone a very ‘Happy and Prosperous New Year’. If there is anything that the Redcoats can do for you and your business, please let us know. Request forms can be obtained at the Chamber Office. And if you would like to recommend an employee for representation with the Roswell Redcoats, please contact Janice Stewart, President at (575) 317-7930 or any other Redcoat member.

The Roswell Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Roswell Class continues to impact lives in our community with the 31st year of its program. The 29 students from all walks of life in the Class of 2014 has completed four of its ten classes. This past fall the class had its orientation and City of Roswell Day in September, visited the Assurance Home and did the ropes course in October, participated in County Day in November, and learned about youth in our community and law enforcement in its December class. Mixed into the classes has been leadership training in making a difference one day at a time and one life at a time, goal setting, overcoming failure, and traits of effective leaders. The class is looking forward to two classes in January, one focused on health and human services and then a two day trip to Santa Fe to learn about the State of New Mexico and the three branches of government. Ahead in the spring is education day, a trip to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy in Artesia, manufacturing day, and agribusiness day with graduation set for May. Besides learning about our community and obtaining tools to be more effective leaders, the program provides a great networking with other community leaders. Applications for the Class of 2015 will be accepted this summer. If you or someone you know has an interest in participating in the program, mark your calendar for June and pick up an application from the Roswell Chamber. Rick Kraft
