Press Release Herrington and Bluetooth On Podium At Sebring Daniel Herrington Finishes 2nd In First Star Mazda Series Race Sebring, FL – March 20, 2006: Daniel Herrington (19) charged to an impressive 2nd place finish at the first race of the 2006 Star Mazda Championship at Sebring International Raceway this weekend with AIM Autosport and Bluetooth support.

Quick all weekend, Herrington was regularly in the top 3 before getting caught out in a crash-filled first qualifying session, which resulted in him starting in 10th. However, the rookie Mazda driver quickly carved his way back to the front in the Bluetooth car, having a race long battle to challenge eventual winner Gerardo Bonilla.

Herrington states, “What a great start to the 2006 season. We were challenging for top spot all weekend, and a 2nd place proves that we have the speed to challenge for the championship, and we now have a lot of points towards that goal. I can’t wait to get to the next race of the year.”

Herrington used a Bluetooth enabled wireless headset in his car during the week. “The Bluetooth device worked flawlessly in its debut outing,” says Herrington. “The fact that our first version of a Bluetooth wireless headset worked at one of the roughest race tracks in North America says a lot about the reliability of Bluetooth technology. I am excited to see how the device develops over the year.”

About Bluetooth Wireless Technology Bluetooth wireless technology is the global short-range wireless standard for personal connectivity of a broad range of electronic devices. The technology is now available in its fourth version of the core specification and continues to develop, building on its inherent strengths – small-form factor radio, low power, low cost, built-in security, robustness, ease-of-use, and ad hoc networking abilities. Three new Bluetooth enabled products are qualified every day and 9.5 million Bluetooth units are shipping per week. The installed base of Bluetooth devices was over 500 million products at the end of 2005 and is projected to surpass one billion by the end of 2006, making it the only proven choice for developers, product manufacturers, and consumers worldwide.

About the Bluetooth SIG The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), comprised of leaders in the telecommunications, computing, consumer electronics, automotive and network industries, is driving development of Bluetooth wireless technology and bringing it to market. Bluetooth SIG Sponsorship Identification

The Bluetooth sponsored Mazda of DMH Racing won the praise and accolades of race officials, competitors, fans and media for its clean graphic design. From all angles, on the straightaway, in the corners and even at full speed, the Bluetooth logo identity was clearly visible and easily identifiable.

DMH Racing, in association with Aim Autosport, did a fantastic job of providing Bluetooth with maximum exposure on the race car as well as on Daniel Herrington’s race helmet and driver uniform.

PR / Marketing Support

This section contains a representative sampling of the press releases and visual representations (screen shots) of the media coverage leading up to and after the Sebring event.

As a result of the PR / Marketing support provided directly by DMH Racing, Aim Autosport, and the Star Mazda Series, the traditional race media readily ran with the Bluetooth sponsorship news. Moreover, as a direct result of the fine on track performance of Daniel Herrington, interest in Bluetooth technology and its role in racing has begun to filter in.

n addition to the press releases and media coverage referenced in this section, Bluetooth is also benefiting directly from a strong online presence via content and race coverage from an extensive list of outlets promoted regularly by the Star Mazda Series, and linked to DMH Racing and Aim Autosport, to name a few.

Bluetooth not only captures the attention of race fans on-site, but SPEED Channel coverage will consist of 12-one-hour cable TV broadcasts following each event on a tape-delayed basis with seven shows scheduled for Sunday afternoons and five set to air on Saturday afternoons.

The first race broadcast from the opening round of the championship at Sebring International Raceway, is scheduled to air on Sunday, April 9th at 4:00pm Eastern Time. Media clips and race highlights have been provided under separate cover.

Press Release Daniel Herrington Joins With Bluetooth SIG Young Driver To Vie For Star Mazda Championship In 2006 Winston-Salem, NC – March 9, 2006: A winter season of preparation paid off this week when Daniel Herrington signed an agreement with the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) for the 2006 Star Mazda series. Herrington, a freshman at NC State, participated in the Formula BMW series in 2005 as well as entering and winning his first Grand Am Cup race in November. Now, after a winter of training, Herrington is ready for the Mazda series.

“Wow, what an exciting way to kick off the racing season,” said Herrington. “I can’t thank the Bluetooth SIG enough for the opportunity to race this year with its support. I am very excited to use Bluetooth wireless technology this year and to showcase its abilities.”

Herrington will use Bluetooth wireless technology to communicate with his crew throughout the year. The first iteration of this technology will be on display at Sebring, Florida, on March 15th through 17th, at the first race of the year. Eventual plans include a wireless Bluetooth device fully integrated into the helmet. “Implementing Bluetooth wireless technology has many benefits to the driver and race team,” explains Herrington. “First of all, with no wires to deal with, we can avoid any deterioration of the wires and excess weight. In addition, Bluetooth technology will allow me to continue talking to the team while outside of the car.”

Also under consideration is the use of a voice-activated microphone. This would allow the driver the freedom of talking without using the “push to talk” button as well as reducing more weight and complication. Herrington also anticipates more applications of Bluetooth wireless technology.

“Bluetooth technology is powerful yet easy to use, lending itself to a wide variety of applications including data transfer. I look forward to exploring the possibilities for more implementation of Bluetooth technology throughout the year.”

Added Michael Foley, Ph.D., executive director of the Bluetooth SIG: “Bluetooth technology in the automotive industry has come on strong in recent years – consumers are using the technology in their everyday lives to keep hands on the wheel while still carry on vital conversations while driving. We are excited to see this usage of the technology carry over into the competitive world of racing and look forward to cheering on Daniel’s racing this year.”

Over the winter Herrington’s performances in test days have shown why he will be a contender in the Mazda series this year. Herrington will run with AIM Autosport, who in its first year of Mazda racing in ’05, finished 3rd in the championship. With AIM Autosport and the Bluetooth SIG behind him, Herrington is anticipating a successful 2006 racing season.

AIM Starts Season On Podium 2006.03.23 AIM Autosport's Star Mazda Championship team began its 2006 campaign at Sebring International Raceway with a second-place finish thanks to a good drive by Daniel Herrington. The result was backed up by Rob Bunker charging from 36th to ninth and Jay Poscente finishing sixth in the Masters Class (24th overall). A field of 37 came out for the season opener, part of the Twelve Hours of Sebring last weekend. Daniel Herrington took second

year and testing was not wrapped up until late February. Before the long haul to Florida, the team had only two weeks to disassemble, strip, prep, paint, reassemble and race prep three cars. Normally, this process takes over a week per car! Painting was planned and scheduled so that the cars could be reassembled as parts were delivered from the paint shop. The last pieces were delivered the day before the truck left for Florida. "The paint shop and the AIM Mazda team worked a minimum of fourteen hours a day, twelve days straight," said AIM's Formula Mazda Team Manager, Ian Willis. "The cars looked awesome and all the hard work put in by everyone paid off."

Rob Bunker passed 27 cars at

sessions prior to qualifying on Thursday. AIM mounted new tires in the hot afternoon sessions as qualifying and racing were to be held in similar conditions. Morning sessions were used to ensure the cars worked well on tires that had done half to full race distances. Qualifying The field was split into two groups, each getting 22 minutes on the track. Jay was in the first group and did well until a small mistake saw him spin and bounce the nose of the car off the wall. A quick stop revealed that only the tip was damaged, but a red flag came out before he was able to go for a better time.

Jay Poscente finished sixth in

scrambled off. As the swarm rounded turn three, someone was bundled off the tarmac and the red flag was out again. Rob and Daniel waited in pit lane while the rest of the field came back in and more unrecoverable minutes ticked away. With less than eight minutes left, enough for just two timed laps, the track was once

again open for business. Daniel's first flying lap was quick and he was really going for it next time around, but he aborted following a mistake, electing to reduce wear on his tires. Sadly, Rob suffered a rare and unusual failure on his out lap. A universal joint in the steering column broke and he was unable to post a time. When all was said and done, Daniel would start tenth, Jay 24th and Rob 36th. The Race The race was punctuated by three full-course cautions, the first of which occurred before the end of the first lap. Daniel was off to a good start, climbing to fifth before the yellow flag came out. Jay had gained two places to sit 22nd, and Rob had lunged to 28th. Daniel and Rob were on the move again once the green flag came out again while Jay was embroiled in a battle with some of his fellow Masters Class drivers. They managed only four laps of racing before the yellow flag was out again, but Daniel and Rob had made dramatic strides. Daniel's Bluetooth car was now second and Rob's Rennsport-sponsored car was fifteenth. With less than five laps of green racing, Daniel had moved up eight places and Rob had impressively gained 21! Jay had been shuffled back a few spots, but was ready to attack when the green came back out. The yellow flag came down after four caution laps, but before it was even rolled up, there was another crash - a car that hadn't even reached the flag stand! Three more laps went by the wayside and it was clear the race would now be limited by time of which there was enough for about four green laps. On the restart, Daniel fell back a bit from the leader while his rear tires came up to temperature. Rob managed to pick off four more cars and slot into eleventh. Once Daniel's rear tires were hot, he was able to close on the leader, but didn't have enough time to challenge for the win. Rob took two more places before the checkered flag waved and Jay fought his way back up to 24th, taking his NDA car to sixth place in the Masters Class. Afterthoughts Daniel Herrington: Daniel drove very well to finish second in his first Star Mazda Championship race and claim his first professional open-wheel podium! Rob Bunker: Rob was simply amazing, overcoming the disappointment of qualifying to pass 27 cars and finish ninth. Jay Poscente: Of the precious few green-flag laps there were, Jay spent most of them in a tough battle. Sixth place in the Masters Class is a good accomplishment for his first Star Mazda race. << Back to News

AIM Autosport Launches Three-Car Formula Mazda Campaign 2006.03.17 AIM Autosport will enter the 2006 Star Mazda Championship with a threecar line up. Drivers Rob Bunker, Daniel Herrington and Jay Poscente will spearhead AIM's second season of Formula Mazda competition which begins this weekend at the 54th annual 12 Hours of Sebring. Bunker, who has graduated to Formula Mazda from AIM's Formula BMW programme, will drive car number 18 with sponsorship from Team Rennsport. last year, improving throughout the season and peaking at the final event of the year. He is well liked at AIM and his continued relationship with the team can only help his prospects this year. A newcomer to AIM Autosport, 19-year-old Herrington of Winston Salem, North Carolina; will race car number 3. Another graduate of Formula BMW, Herrington tested with AIM last fall and convincingly showed his abilities. His sponsor, Bluetooth SIG will show off its technology on Daniel's race car by developing a wireless helmet which will eliminate the wiring between the driver's helmet and the car.

Rob Bunker has graduated from our Formula BMW team to drive one of our Mazdas.

Ian Willis, AIM Autosport's Formula Mazda Team Manager, is confident both Bunker and Herrington will fare well this year. “Rob will be a contender this year in the Star Mazda Championship as he has been quick and focused during off-season testing. He has adapted well to the faster Star Mazda car and I am pleased that he is entering his second season with us. “Daniel proved himself by setting some very impressive lap times. As we worked through various set ups at our Sebring pre-season two-day test, Daniel provided excellent feedback which helped us to find a fast, well-

balanced car. This resulted in lap times that would have put us at the front of last year's grid and race at Sebring.” Rounding out AIM's Formula Mazda line up is Jay Poscente who will drive the number 85, NDA car in the Star Mazda Masters Class (for drivers over 45 years of age). Poscente of Calgary, Alberta, is well known to Willis as they raced each other in the Canadian Pro Formula Ford series in the early 90s. Following a chance reunion at last year's Mazda exhibition race in Trois Rivieres where Jay was racing sports cars, he expressed an interest in trying a Mazda. Based on testing, after which Willis reported that Poscente had “too much fun and was impressively quick considering he had not been in a highperformance open-wheel car for many years,” Poscente decided to join AIM Autosport and run a full season. He is not only looking to win the Masters Championship but also hopes to mix it up with his younger team mates.
