Genesis Genetics about


Genesis Genetics is the pioneer of preimplantation genetic testing of embryos for inherited genetic abnormalities. Founded by world-renowned scientists largely responsible for discovering and implementing the first successful cases of Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), they have spent more than 25 years on their goal of helping build healthy families all over the globe.

Recently, RBD compared Genesis to other geneticsbased companies. While the company’s direction was still moving forward, serving as leaders in the field, its brand felt stuck, heavy and outdated.

situation From early in its existence, Genesis was ahead of the curve in terms of research and technology. But what their brand leveraged in science, it lacked in connection with a broader audience. The implication of the people impacted by the process was not as direct as it could be.

We began an exploration of the company, including interviews with staff, patients and clinicians. We developed mission and vision statements, as well as a wide range of new logo options. From streamlining the current logo to discovering new icons, we presented concepts that exposed Genesis to new colors, new typefaces and new ways of thinking about themselves. In addition, we created a style guide to support any design needs and to create a unified voice and appearance for all materials. Photography became more targeted to the audience, featuring emotive, family images for patients and clean science for clinics. With their new logo in place, we were able to create new brochures, patient and clinic folders, trade show displays, social media posts and website, connecting their rejuvenated identity with their advancing position in the world of genetic testing.

Consistently ranked at both state and national levels, the University of Michigan Health System is at the forefront of modern health care. Their vision is to create the future of the field through discovery and to become the national leader in health care, health care reform, research, biomedical innovation and education.

Working within the structure of U-M’s branding guidelines, including typefaces, color palette and logo usage, RBD Creative designs outreach brochures and fliers featuring specific services of the Health System. Internal and external programs are handled with unique designs while still being dedicated to the overall brand.


Outcomes and Activity Reports for the Frankel Cardiovascular Center and Congenital Heart Center at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital present a yearly challenge of displaying data in a clear and concise manner while still conveying U-M’s patient- and family-focused nature.

In addition to the work done within the hospital and its satellite clinics, the multidisciplinary teams at U-M reach out to physicians across the country to keep them apprised of the Health System’s newest techniques, latest research and current outcomes. Physician referrals are key to the Health System’s success and help U-M provide optimal care for patients in a cost-effective manner.

The Health System stays active on social media as a means to connect with a broader audience and news sources. situation In an effort to keep Michigan top of mind for prospective students, the Admissions team was looking for new ways to reach them throughout their school decision-making process. They also wanted ways to attract more top tier students, building upon their goal to develop the “leaders and best.” Students needed to receive messages and designs in ways that embodied the Michigan experience — energetic, engaged and informed.

RBD Creative researched not only U-M but other medical schools across the country and around the world. Interviews with current students and Admissions team members revealed key attributes of the school and its philosophy. Working closely with the Health System’s Marketing and Communications Department, we devised themes and creative styles that complemented the University’s larger branding mission. Print and digital media worked hand in hand, sharing styles from brochures and Z-cards to social media infographics and email newsletters.

CryoWellness USA about CryoWellness offers whole body cryotherapy, a noninvasive cold therapy that can reduce inflammation, increase metabolism and enhance overall health.

situation As a new company offering a relatively new service, CryoWellness was working from the ground up. They needed a presence across the board — from print to web to social media.


solutions RBD created a logo that expressed the powerful transition from cold to health. This same sentiment was carried over to the website, where dynamic images are infused with the corporate colors, referencing the healthy potential of cryotherapy. All information, including videos and patient testimonials, is presented clearly and concisely. Evangelical Homes of Michigan about Since 1879, Evangelical Homes of Michigan has maintained a commitment to create lasting senior living and care communities for Southeast Michigan. As an agent of transformation, Evangelical Homes offers a full continuum of services and solutions to their residents and clients.

situation As our senior population continues to grow, Evangelical Homes realized the need to reach potential residents with a new range of services. It is no longer just about making plans to move into a community; it is about maintaining a level of wellness in your own home for as long as possible.

solutions Given the specific audience, RBD researched attributes such as point size, formatting and color to ensure an older adult would feel comfortable reading the material. We then developed informational brochures featuring Brecon Village, Evangelical Homes’ flagship community, and LifeChoices, their continuing care at home program. Designs that evoked the desired, modern lifestyle were explored, bringing a sense of comfort and support to what may be a momentous decision about one’s parents and potentially oneself.
