STORY

Jordyn and I, Cody, both grew up showing multiple species of show stock. Jordyn showed pigs, chickens, and sheep. But mainly sheep. Jordyn’s dad is very competitive by nature and started their flock, Achenbach Show Lambs, in 2011. Allegedly, Jordyn still holds the record for most sheep shown at the Boone County Fair with a grand total of 11 lambs. I started my show career with cattle, just as my dad and older brother did. We expanded from cattle to include pigs and goats eventually prioritizing just show pigs. Towards the end of my show career my brother and I began to farrow a few a gilts, which led to the start of Razin Cain Showpigs, in 2015.

When Jordyn and I met our lives collided and my passion for raising high quality show pigs evolved into a passion for show lambs as well. Even though I have always considered myself a “pig guy”, I take pride in and love the challenges of raising all forms of showstock. With the crossing over of species, I believe that I bring a unique perspective to our flock. From the start of the first bred ewe purchased in the fall of 2020, our flock has quickly grown. Our goal is to raise high-caliber sheep that will be able to compete on a national scale as we are constantly pursuing perfection. We feel so fortunate that we get to raise our son, Wilder, in the barn. And considering his first word was “baa” as he pointed at the sheep, I believe we will keep striving for banners and buckles for many years to come.

Jordyn wanted to get into the Southdown business so here we are! Lots 1 & 2 are the result of a bred purchase from Troy Longenecker. When I talked to Troy he spoke highly of Bar Rumor and what he brings to the table. I can see why!

24001 is balanced and complete.

He is tall at the point of shoulder and possesses a great look from the side. He reads to have a later maturity muscle pattern and with days on creep he is proving that.

Jordyn wanted to get into the Southdown business so here we are!

Lots 1 & 2 are the result of a bred purchase from Troy Longenecker.

When I talked to Troy he spoke highly of Bar Rumor and what he brings to the table. I can see why!

24002 is a notch smaller in frame and is shorter bodied when compared to his counterpart. He still has that same great look from the side just with more extras. He has more muscle, more bone, and more shag. In the pen amongst his crossbredfriends he definitely stands out!

Ninth Cloud is our keeper How High buck from last year.

He is moderate and heavy structured, but still has that How High look and hide which made it a no brainer that he needed to be used back in our flock. This trio is a perfect example of what we thought he would do!

Grandma's sibs were Champion Cross at Nebraska State Fair and Res Heavy at Wyoming State Fair.

This wether is a cookie cutter of his daddy. He is busted open with big muscles, a round cage, and stout bones.

He is moderate and heavy structured, but still has that How High look and hide which made it a no brainer that he needed to be used back in our flock. This trio is a perfect example of what we thought he would do!

Grandma's sibs were Champion Cross at Nebraska State Fair and Res Heavy at Wyoming State Fair.

A mate sis to the previous lot and is an absolute beast of a female. Almost identical, just bigger in size with more furrrrr, she could run with the boys!

24005 is one sexy lady. I love her look from the side, especially her front 1/3rd. When you step in behind she doesn't disappoint!

Momma had a Black Label ewe last year that we retained in the flock.

Last year Chit Chat was the buck that excited me the most and still does! I elected to flush him to my two Daisy ewes in hopes that likeness would knock it outta the park. I couldn't be more pleased with the results! Last year the Shameless ewe had triplet Gable’s. The male stayed intact and is working for Blaine Huber out west, I offered choice on the females, the one we retained went on to be Reserve Breeding Ewe at Boone County.

This male definitely catches your eye being as loud marked as he is, but when you put your hands on him is when he truly stands out! I think he could make a killer wether but if a guy wants to keep him intact his pedigree is royal and he bleeds FF!

I elected to flush him to my two Daisy ewes in hopes that likeness would knock it outta the park, and couldn't be more pleased with the results! Last year the Shameless ewe had tripplest Gable’s where the male stayed intact and is working for Blaine Huber out west, I offered choice on the females where the one we ended up with went on to be Reserve Breeding Ewe at Boone County.

I wasn't mad when we ended up with the little sis last year because I knew she would continue to get better. Today that ewe looks even more impressive than when she won and gets us excited to be in our breeding program. 24008 reminds me a lot of her!

Backseat Driver has some of the wildest raw muscle I've ever seen and I had to use him.

24010 is a solo flush babe out of the 78 x 15197 ewe and if you are familiar with the Hild’s program you know how influential the 15197 ewe is there.

Man this guy props up nice, but what I love most about him is his rib and cage. When you get on top he is a monster from his blades to his hip, these qualities won't go unnoticed in the ring!

If you asked me which female was my favorite ewe we own, it would be hands down be the Freestyle x Daisy ewe we call Poppy. That ewe will forever leave a lasting impression from the moment I laid eyes on her the first time I visited Hild’s. On the way back through the barn I then saw the Daisy donor in the drop pen, even more solidifying Poppy as one of those “must own” females. Poppy is just getting started here and is the one we plan to build around, it truly kills me to let this one go!

Last year She had a pair of Ride Time’s, Barrett Carlisle buys the ewe and the wether went to Oklahoma where he dominated for the Johnson/Barnes family.

Lot 10 & 11 are out of the same recip and are a little further behind than the rest. They are very similar in their make and kind, I honestly don't think you could go wrong either way. I haven't kept a female out of the Bullseye ewe yet which seems silly because she works on any buck you throw at her, take advantage!

A barn full of wethers like this would sure make a guy happy! Great lines, plenty of muscle, and is up and out on his front end. Another one that is sure to get you that “second look” in the ring!

When Justin was having his bred sale this past year I asked him which ewe was under the money, he replied with "orange 17" and that she was “a freaky lady”. After getting unloaded and seeing her for the first time, I couldn't agree more.

This wether is the smallest in the offering, but only because he is almost 2 weeks younger than the rest. I thought about waiting a week to take his picture but was happy with what we got when we did the whole set. Momma passed on her freakishness and I really can't poke a big hole in this guy. Creasy top?

Check. Elevation? Check.

Length of neck? Check.

Big feet, big bone, and shag?

Check, check, and CHECK!
