early 2,400 homes across 16 subdivisions, six multifamily projects with 1,513 units and five hotels that will bring between 700 and 900 rooms are currently under development in Glendale’s Sports & Entertainment District. Glendale is home to one of the most dynamic sports and entertainment districts in the United States. During the last 12 years, our city has seen a tremendous amount of growth, most of which has been focused in the Loop 101 area. UNIQUE OFFERINGS The 6-square-mile, mixed-use district is the home of the NHL Arizona Coyotes and the NFL Arizona Cardinals. In addition, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox house their teams at the Camelback Ranch Spring Training facility yearround. Since 2007, Glendale has also been the home of the Fiesta Bowl,
which each year brings fans from all over the country to enjoy the popular college football championship. Also in the district is the Cityowned Gila River Arena, operated by AEG, which serves as the anchor for the Westgate Entertainment District now owned by Yam Properties. Thanks to AEG, Gila River has been the hub of many high-profile world tours. Earlier this year, Elton John, Kelly Clarkson, ACE Comicon and Pink brought crowds from throughout the state to Glendale. We look forward to welcoming Shawn Mendes, Cher and Celine Dion in the next year. Each time one of these acts chooses Glendale as their tour stop, it generates a significant impact to our community. This district has hosted Super Bowls, BCS National Championship football games, World Cup Friendly matches, NCAA Final Four Men’s Basketball Championship and count-
less world-class concerts at State Farm Stadium and continues to be a major driver for additional hotel and entertainment development. This vibrant, regional destination is becoming a major employment corridor for such national corporations as Ring, Bechtel, Humana, Terminix and others who employ nearly 20,000 people within the greater district. With significant land opportunities for new office development projects specifically along the Loop 101 freeway, this dynamic district is the prime location for new employment growth.
