WESTGATE CONTINUES TO GROW UNDER YAM LEADERSHIP by Jessica Kubicki, Director of Marketing, YAM Properties
t’s been just over a year since YAM Properties – the real estate investment group of Bob Parsons – took over Westgate Entertainment District. Take it from me, it’s been a busy year full of amazing growth. The district’s development has been centered around a singular goal: create great experiences. Those experiences are offered in terms of exceptional dining, shopping and events as well as business and residential opportunities. As of July 2019, the facility sits at an amazing 93% occupancy rate for both the office and entertainment space – well above the average 87% commercial occupancy rate for the greater Phoenix area. This year, YAM Properties also took over management of The Lofts at Westgate and has leased out more than 80% of the center’s apartment space. We’ve also implemented a validation parking program to essentially offer free parking to guests who visit one of our participating restaurant or retail shops during major events. Below we’ve rounded up more highlights and Westgate information, including some things about the district that may surprise you. Entertainment Westgate is probably best known for our dining, shopping and entertainment offerings. In the past year, we’ve welcomed six new tenants including the recently announced

Lumberjaxes axe-throwing venue. This is just the latest example of how we are expanding and supporting local and small business owners. While we have some amazing national tenants like AMC, Buffalo Wild Wings and Yard House, more than a dozen of our venues are locally owned. In the past year alone Arizona residents have opened The Lola, Low Key Piano Bar, Escape Westgate and State 48 Funk House Brewery. Our local service/retail partners include Fine Ash Cigars, Bride Studio and Westgate Nails & Spa. Office The business side of Westgate allows us to be a part of the economic growth spurt happening in the West Valley and bring additional job opportunities into the area. Top tenants include Banner Health, DeVry, Lockheed Martin, RING, Terminix and William Ryan Homes. Events If you feel like there is always something going on at Westgate, you are probably right. We host more than 300 events a year. From weekly event series and live music to family fun nights and large signature events, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at the district. We’ve also brought in several Insta-worthy art installations including our summer Umbrella Pop and February’s 700-pound
heart-shaped sculpture. The upcoming fall and winter seasons welcome the return of popular events such as Fitness in the District, Bike Night, Hot Rod Night and plenty of holiday happenings. Don’t miss the annual Halloween festivities, ice-skating rink, nightly snowfall, carriage rides, the Santa Hustle 5K & Half Marathon, free photo opportunities with Santa Claus and rocking New Year’s Eve parties. It’s been an incredible year, and I know there are more exciting things yet to come. For more information, a tenant directory or to see what’s going on at the district visit westgateaz.com.
