As I was learning discipline in a moanstary in China for 4 months, I used my spar time to draw a mural for my master as a greating. This 100 hours drawing led other student to turn their rooms into a mural, so that the kung-fu academy became an art and a martial place.

From Turkey to China, the silk Road lead millions of people to digg troglodyte habitats. Caravaners were living inside the mountains to protect themselves from climatic rigours and attacks. In the Hexi corridor located in Gansu province in China there is a city called : gold city. The following programm is established in itâ€™s suburb.
The silk road has permitted material, cultural, religious, scientific exchanges between very various people (Turks, Thokariens, Ogdiens, Persiens, Eastern romans, Chinese...). But since the XV century most of the trade is done by shipping (faster and safer).
Creation of a set of workshops in Zhangye mountains

The following project is a balade joining different art houses integrated in the mountains. Every project is meant to be crossed by randoms art-pilgrins. The design is determinated by the environmental factor. Being located on mountain ridges, the shelters receive light on one side, wind on the other. The walls and roofs are shaped to optimize those inputs.

The following exercise is splited in two phases. The first one is a reflexion on an architecture school, the second is it’s implantation in an urban coherence. Even if architecture teachings are very various, The project has a central and dominant role in french schools. 22
We organized our school following the cycle of a project. We’ve devided the programme in 4 parts. • Reception (auditorium bloc), • teachings (Amphitheatre bloc) •Conception (Experimental bloc) •Achievement(Exhibition bloc)
These blocs structure the programme. Different fonction are grafted to the main blocs. Those different parts are like events that ponctuate the architectural balade and become points of reference.

The school is located in Saint Denis, at the jonction between anWW university (Paris 8), low budget collectiv housing and a field containing a racetrack.

During this workshop, 20 groups of student had to create a city, according to a specific ground occupation coefficient. The starting point was an analysis based on the Nolli plan in order to have a better understanding of the relationship between public and private areas. Following those resaerches and expermientation a frame of built spaces and small alleys emerged. A modern slum inspired by futuristic movies in wich one is able to circulate on different levels. Cars have no room in this project since the city is exclusively designed for pedestrians. Large open squares on each corner of the parcel are meant as an invitation to discover the inside. A big open area is to be found in the center of the housing project.

The following project is an exercice about collective housing. Three students had to devellop a project following an architectural element, ours was the roof. Then every student has to compose with three elements : a given typology, a material and a use. Mine were respectively diagonal, terracotta bricks and natural ventilation.

Système de patios
To optimise the ventilation and turn our building into a roof, we freed the groundfloor and superposed our projects. We had to create a constant dialogue between the indivual projects to adapt the global form to everyones needs. Part of the struggle was to adapt the program to the patios crossing all the building.
To enjoy an adiabatic cooling system we created basins under the patios. Then to optimise the ventilation every flat is stepped and has an access to the street and a patio (creation of a frame, every element has an oppening to the outside). Finally the arrangement of the bricks is the tool to handle intimacy issues and the thickness of the walls is used to frame views.

Open ground, open stairway. Through appartements connecting the street and patios
The 3d model upwards is the original project. After putting our three projects together, we had to rearrange in order to densify as much as possible. Being below the two others, i had to adapat my project according to the changement of patios. At first we created the vertical circulation, than we developped our projects and than we dialogued to harmonize the entire building.
