THE KROC STORY The 65,000 square foot Suisun City Kroc Center is one of 26 Kroc Centers open and operating nationwide. In 1998, Mrs. Joan Kroc, widow of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, donated $90 million to The Salvation Army to build a comprehensive community center in San Diego, California. Her goal was to create a center, supported in part by the community, where children and families would be exposed to different people, activities and arts that would otherwise be beyond their reach. When Mrs. Kroc passed away in October 2003, she left $1.5 billion - much of her estate - to The Salvation Army, by far the largest charitable gift ever given to the Army, and the largest single gift given to any single charity at one time. The money was designated to build a series of state-of-the-art Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Centers nationwide patterned after the San Diego center. A total of 27 centers will be operational once the project is complete. Š 2013 THE SALVATION ARMY

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR I am delighted to welcome every person that comes through the doors of The Salvation Army Suisun City Kroc Center. Since we have opened our doors, we have found the Center has become many things for many people. Some come to enjoy the state of the art workout equipment while others enjoy having swim lessons in our indoor pool. Some come to have coffee and enjoy the company of their neighbors. Others come to enjoy the Sunday Service. As you spend some time at the Kroc Center you will realize there is something different about the facility. There is an infectious and positive feeling in the atmosphere. There are so many opportunities to help yourself, family and community. One can volunteer to coach in sports programs or help serve

meals to those in need. We even support first responders in emergency situations. We believe our community is shaped by the actions of the people who live, work, and play within the community. We are here to help provide opportunities to have a positive impact. We trust that your experience here will be a great one and you are able to share those experiences with your friends and family. We are glad you have decided to join us and welcome you with open arms!

Sincerely, Michael Brito, MBA Director of Operations

Allow us to greet you with a smile this Sunday at 11:00 am with classes for the whole family at 10:00 am teaching Biblical principles and foundational understanding. Over the last four years, thousands of people have discovered the Kroc Center and are now utilizing every part of it. From the gym to the swimming pool; rock climbing to our educational and enrichment programs, there is presence in all four corners of our center! At the center of all we do is Kroc Worship – a church where the family of believers recognize the importance of having a personal relationship with Christ, and aim to deepen their understanding of who He is as their personal Lord and Savior. Majors Randy and Tracie Hartt would like to personally invite you to join us for Worship at the Kroc on Sunday mornings at 11 AM. Our worship style is contemporary and the teaching is solidly grounded in Scripture. With activities for every age group and child watch provided during services, worship at the Kroc Center is family friendly, warm and extremely welcoming. But don’t just take our word for it, visit us any Sunday and see for yourself. We’ll be waiting at the door to greet you!

At the Kroc Center, intentional living starts with making a decision to get more engaged. Therefore, we have developed a number of elements that help families mature and grow spiritually through weekly character development programs. These programs are broken up into age appropriate groups with impassioned leaders who love God and the people they guide. Our objective is to meet people where they are spiritually and provide opportunities for growth in every aspect of life. In addition to the physical wellness programs offered at the Kroc Center, the Kroc focuses on spiritual wellness.

KROC WORSHIP VISION To be an outward focused community of believers. Deeply rooted in the Word of God Committed to serving, nurturing and loving people towards a devoted relationship with Jesus Christ.

Giving hope to a family in need can impact lives in immeasurable ways. We have heard countless times from people who are now working and back on their feet, or have recovered from an addiction or a major crisis in their lives, of how The Salvation Army provided hope for a better tomorrow at a time when they needed it the most. We can’t however do it alone. In fact, we can’t do it at all without the generosity of people like you. You can Give Hope year round, and especially during the holiday season by being generous with your time, talents, and treasures. Giving Hope can be as simple as:

Give Your Time

Be a volunteer. Opportunities for volunteerism include packing food bags for families in need, painting and general maintenance of our facilities, teaching classes at the Kroc Center and assisting in the various activities that take place every day. Individual volunteers are always needed. Groups of people can have an even greater impact. When Bible study groups, service clubs, churches, neighborhoods, businesses and even families all come together, we are able to provide even more hope to people in need.

Give Your Talent

Are you a great organizer, teacher, leader or have a particular talent that could be used to provide to people in need? We need individuals to organize food drives, teach classes, plan fundraisers and join our team of advisors.

Give Your Treasure

Financial gifts of all sizes make a difference. Your financial gift can put food on the table of a hungry senior, a roof over the head of a homeless mom and her children, or gas in the car of a veteran who needs to attend a doctor’s appointment. Your gift of whatever amount enables The Salvation Army to meet immediate needs as they arise. Giving Hope is really very simple and starts with your willingness to do so. Together we can transform lives forever. Will you Give Hope?

Bouldering is a form of rock climbing that is performed safely without the use of ropes or harnesses. It serves to build stamina, technique, and increase finger strength. While it can be done without any equipment whatsoever, most climbers use climbing shoes to help secure footholds, chalk to keep their hands dry, and bouldering crash pads to prevent injuries from falls. The sport originated as a method of training for roped climbs and mountaineering. Bouldering enables climbers to practice at a safe distance from the ground. At the Kroc, our bouldering height is 11 feet at head level, and boulderers position crash pads near the climbing wall to provide a softer landing, as well as one or more spotters to help redirect the climber towards the pads.

KROC STAR Berry Saraga, Lead Lifeguard

Berry Saraga joined our team in May 2015. While working out in the gym, she learned about the lifeguarding opportunity and pursued it head on. Berry’s hard work and determination were evident early on when she decided to take the lifeguard training class and practiced every day for six weeks prior to the class and then sailed through the course with a better understanding than most of her peers. She moved into teaching swimming lessons right away and has ascended into a lead lifeguard position. She had been a great role model for the children and her fellow team members alike. These traits will serve her well in her future as Berry continues to work towards a degree in nursing!
