EU GREEN WEEK AWARD 14th June 2019

Location:

Huis der Provincie Markt 11, 6811CG Arnhem (NL) 8.30 am - 16.30 pm

Motivation of organizing the EU Green Week 2019 To extend the vision of the ‘Nijmegen European Green Capital 2018’ and to build on its sustainable achievements, Foundation “Circle of Sustainable Europe” (CoSE) organized Fin collaboration with the Province of Gelderland and the HAN University of Applied Sciences, the ‘EU Green Week Award Event’. This event is the evaluation of the European Green Week which was held from 13 until 17 May 2019 in Gelderland. A wide range of participants and stakeholders from many different fields and backgrounds came to Gelderland. From politicians to government and from education, businesses to citizens building on sustainable future. This event was organized not only to exchange the immersive experiences in sustainable innovation that happens in this generation, but also to make young people aware that they are the leaders of the future and the builders of a new generation. They need the current leaders to make this sustainable shift happen. Driven by the immense surge of both technological and digital growth that happens today, as well the exponential decline in natural resources, the world is becoming a more complex system than it has ever been before. Economic, ecologic and social systems will no longer follow the linear, but rather a circular pattern in order to survive. By sharing and building this knowledge and experience with current and future leaders, they will become more capable to create sustainable economic, ecologic and social systems. This flow, combined with the velocity of the future, inspires not only leaders with vision and passion, but also leaders with and entrepreneurial and sustainable mind-set. Adding to a new way of cross-border education, how to live sustainably. With the ‘EU Green Week’ we targeted both young talents, educational organizations, cultural, gamechanging companies and civilians to gain profound insights into how to innovate in a sustainable way, share and connect their new sustainable mindset and initiatives. This event is based on a proven formula of confronting, brainstorming, and seeking innovation that’s based on real-life entrepreneurial challenges with committed project partners. It has been five days of municipal-level exploration with action and connecting people through sustainability and through exploration with sector experts, corporate leaders and major companies. The citizens and the innovation teams have identified the needs, frictions and opportunities for real life actions. The final of the week marks the beginning of a new sustainable movement. We want to create a 'Green Office Gelderland' platform to track and improve the results of this event in order to define innovative sustainability projects for the foreseeable future. The goal is to drive cascade effect and bring growth to the event partners, stakeholders and participants. This event is to stimulate sustainable initiatives and to keep building on the legacy of EU Green Capital 2018 as well the EU Green Week 2019 to be worthy of being the most entrepreneurial region in Europe.
