Summer is not just a season, but a feeling of freedom, fun and lightness. Summer evokes a flurry of warm memories, from sunny days spent on the beach, snacking on ripe fruits, delicious summer dishes and refreshing drinks to barbecues on balmy nights. Summer awakens our desire for travel, light summer wardrobe and colourful accessories. 8

Life takes place outside again in the sum mer. Nature is in full juice and inspires us with its beauty and diversity to all kinds of activities. Summer hits take us mentally to the beach of our dreams. Who doesn't like to remember “Summer of 69” (Brian Adams) or Summer in den City (Joe Co graphics: @LeCoqDesign/creativemarket.com

WE TAKE YOU ON A JOURNEY THROUGH

SUMMER

AS WE KNOW IT.

Now it's here, summer, and with it that feeling of summer lightness. Finally. The days are longer, the mood is more relaxed. We deserve to indulge in the pleasures of summer. We must not hide the fact that overwhelming summer days - and nights - are overshadowed by climate cata strophes. So let's treat nature responsibly and mindfully so that future generations can also enjoy turquoise blue water under a pastel sky with white cirrus clouds drifting overhead.

The weather is getting hotter and it’s time to pull out the summer staples. This summer, men are leaving their sweat pants in the wardrobe and wearing jeans with casual tops or knitted shirts instead. On hot days, men prefer to wear outdoor/ hiking-style sandals with them. Men are surfing the fashion wave with prints and large-scale patterns in bright colours. At the forefront: the Hawaiian shirt.

The Beauty of Flowers

The Association of German Florists has identified four trend themes for 2023 that will be interpreted florally with the multi-talent Chrysanthemum: "Reanimated Real", "Riviera Roadtrip", "Autumn Atelier" and "Charming Carmine".

TRAVEL & CULINARY

“The hotel is beautiful and the food tastes good.” Probably you have written or received such or similar news from the holiday yourself. Today, holiday greetings may be more differentiated, because travellers pay attention not only to the taste of food and drinks, but also to their quality. As you know, you can argue about taste. But we don't do that here. Rather, we look at the quality and diversity of the culinary offer.

For the snacks in the early afternoon and the evening buf fet, traditional Alpine recipes are combined with modern cuisine. Connoisseurs of fine cuisine dine à la carte in the “Almstüberl”. On the table come hearty alpine dishes or light herbal cuisine. Grandma’s secret recipes, however, does not reveal the kitchen, but this summery recipe from the Rehlegg kitchen to imitate! What Is A Shrub? In terms of drinks, a shrub is a non-alcoholic syrup. It is made from three ingredients: fruit, vinegar and sugar. This sweet mix is traditionally enjoyed as part of a mixed drink with soda water. The word shrub is derived from the Arabic word sharab (to drink). In the American colonial period, the widely used syrups were used to prepare delicious drinks.

Photos by Nicole Müller

The vinegar brings out the intense flavours of the res pective fruits. Shrub can be used in a variety of ways: for cooking, dressings and drinks.

The room layout in the breakfast area al lows a stress-free self-service in the mor ning. A rich offer, partly regionally sourced and made from organic production, should satisfy every taste. People with intolerances should announ ce their wishes. The choice of alternative foods is limited. In the Mooshof, a lot has apparently been modernised and adapted to the taste of the time. In our opinion, the symbiosis of old and new succeeded quite well: Modern country style and rural classic complement each other. In the restaurant, different furnishing sty les meet. a new vison

Image right: Pantone Color Institute

The vibrant pinkish-red color PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta is officially the color of the year 2023 according to the experts of the Pantone Color Institute. Describing Viva Magenta as „a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family demonstrating a new signal of strength“, this pulsating color encouriges us to groundbreaking possibilities.

As virtual worlds become a more prominent part of our daily lives, we look to draw ins piration from nature and what is real. PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family, and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes be longing to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known. Rooted in the primordial, PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta reconnects us to original matter. Invoking the forces of nature, it galvanizes our spirit, helping us to build our inner strength.

50

– Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute

I S S U E 2 / 2 02 3

With its mix of warm and cold tones Viva Magenta stands for the hybrid time in which we live. It is the perfect color to symbolise uni versal harmony. Balance is the key: The right amount of Viva Magenta in the right places demonstrates a new signal of strength. Pantone mixes with a variety of hues in a series of four palettes: Between calm neutrals, it adds a fiery splash of colour; it unifies and harmonises a wide range of skin tones, adds a little drama to overly harmonious rich shades or blends seam lessly into a warm palette.

Viva Magenta can raise your looks and gives interiors new energy. This is proven by our editorial picks on the following pages.

Paula Taylor, Trend Specialist at Graham & Brown comments:

Pantone’s colour of the year may seem like a brave choice for paint if you’re a more classic and reserved decorator who usually remains loyal to the steadfast nature of a neutral. This colour however reflects the need for self-expression and confidence, inviting us to be more open and show our personalities to the world. [...] This is a warming colour that can really be worked into any room, whether it is in the furniture, window dressings, or of course, the walls!
