Treatment & Prevention Diagnosis
The treatments of prostate cancer varies on its grade and stage.
During the digital rectal exam, the doctor inserts a lubricated, gloved finger into the rectum to examine the prostate. Irregularities may indicate early signs of prostate cancer.
Low-grade prostate cancer do not immediately require treatment. Active surveillance and watchful waiting are done to cancers that grow slowly and for managing the symptoms.
However, high-grade prostate cancers are treated with various procedures to eliminate cancer cells, remove prostate gland or tissues, and inhibit the production of hormones.
P S A Surgery
The blood drawn will be analyzed for PSA. The prostate-specific antigen is produced by the prostate gland. Elevated levels may indicate prostate issues, including infection, inflammation, enlargement, or cancer.
Radiation
If the tests detects an abnormality, further diagnostics are recommended. This includes either an MRI or an ultrasound, and a prostate biopsy.
