Also it will include the technical as well as non technical articles from students of Electronics and Communication Engineering department. One day a man had a conversation with God and said: “Dear God, I would like to know what heaven and hell are like?” God led the man to two doors; he opened the first one and let the man look inside. In the room there was a large round table and in the middle of the table was a large pot of stew that smelled delicious. However, the people around the table were thin and sickly, and they seemed to be very hungry. Then the man noticed that they had very long spoons ties to their hands, it was possible for everyone to reach out and get the food from the pan, but because the spoons were longer than their arms, they could not bring the spoon to their mouths. The man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering. God said, “Now you have seen hell.” And they went to next room. God opened the door and the room was exactly the same as the first one, there was also a large round table in the middle of the room containing a large pot of stew. The people had exactly the same spoon attached to their arms, but these people were well nourished and healthy. They had fun and were laughing and talking with each other. The man said, “I do not get it, I do not get it!”. God said:” It’s Pretty simple, you only need to know one thing. You see they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy people only think of themselves”.

Abstract- The paper is intended to forecast the present condition of energy utilization and the usage of the resources in the generation process. According to International Energy Agency’s New Policies Scenario demand of global electricity consumption will grow by almost 80% by 2040.The contribution of renewable resources in accordance with power generation will increase up to 33% by 2040. The rapidly-increasing contribution and importance of renewable resources in power generation field has led to developments of several sustainable technologies. It’s an opportunity to generate a clean and green energy using the resources what we have in present. Piezoelectricity is a very old discovery not much been developed yet and not much trusted due to its inefficiency. The recent research and development in the electronics sector and its applied streams of electricity production and storage techniques have made possible to capture the energy that was always unnoticed so far. Energy which is in fact invisible energy which can be generated by applying pressure on specific substances with varying pressure produced by the on road moving vehicles. Thus, making the Piezoelectric effect a sensible concept. It is a new concept and has greater prospects in the maintainable energy circles. It is relatively inexpensive and easy to install, and recycles otherwise wasteful forms of energy. Here we mention that the conditions presented are approximations and recent practices have shown that greater amount of energy can be generated from such practices. Index terms- energy harvesting, piezoelectricity, eco-friendly, green energy. I. Introduction In India generally 18-20% of the total energy bill goes towards street lighting and therefore this is one domain that needs major attention.Our objective is to harvest mechanical pressure generated from running vehicles on road into electrical energy and store the generated power for further use. We are using the concept of piezoelectricity to generate electricity from the moving vehicles on road. Vehicles in today’s world are one of the most necessary mean of transportation, and are convenient and flexible. There is a lot of variations in traffic density, much traffic during the day time than night. By embedding the piezoelectric generators in the road can convert the pressure created by vehicles into sensible form of electricity. Presently, most commercial ones are the asphalt roads on which most of the vehicles runs. From the assumptions it is clear that greater amount of electrical energy can be generated from normal vehicles like cars, bikes etc. Also it has the ability to survive the load created by the heavy vehicles having tones of load transforming into a much greater amount of electric power. The generated power is stored in the batteries and can be used further for roadside applications e.g. street lights, advertisement boards. a. PIEZOELECTRIC EFFECT Piezoelectric effect is the capability of certain substances to generate an electric potential in response to applied mechanical stress. The term piezoelectricity means electricity generated by applying pressure. The term is derived from Greek word piezein, means to press, and elektron, an ancient source of electric charge. It was discovered by French physicist Jacques and Pierre Curie. Piezoelectricity is the relation between mechanical stress (pressure) and electrical voltage. On applying force on the piezoelectric material, results in the production of charge in the material. When no force is applied, the piezoelectric substance is in balance condition and the positive and negative charges are evenly distributed. On application of force over the material it slightly R-TOES 2K17


deformed disturbing the lattice structure of the material resulting in the generation of electric potential. The electrical charge is accumulated over the crystal surface that can be extracted using wires.

The direct piezoelectric effect is related to the internal generation of electric charge resulting from applied mechanical force whereas; the converse effect is related to the internal generation of mechanical stress resulting from applied electric potential. The converse effect is used in the production of piezoelectric actuators. II. The block diagram shows the process involved in the harvesting process. Piezoelectric generator is a type of device which works on the principle of piezoelectric effect. The piezoelectric generator is used to convert the mechanical pressure exerted by the vehicle on road to electrical energy. The output of the generator is an AC voltage. So to store the charge into batteries it has to be first converted into DC voltage. Rectifier is a circuit which is used to convert the AC into equivalent DC. Here fullwave bridge rectifier is used. The bridge rectifier is converting the incoming AC into equivalent DC voltage. The voltage source in a circuit may have fluctuations and would not give the fixed voltage output therefore, voltage regulator is used. The voltage regulator maintains the output voltage at a constant value. The final output is given to the battery charging circuit. III. Efficient scenario for large scale generation of electrical power from piezoelecticity We are incorporating the idea of embedding the piezoelectric generators in the roads to convert the wasted mechanical pressure by vehicles into useful form of electrical energy. As nowadays the most commercial roads are asphalt roads (Tar roads) consisting of several layers on which several vehicles run. The first layer laid consists of fine gravels and sand content. Then a thin layer of asphalt is laid which acts like a strong base for the generators. Then the piezoelectric generators are placed in quick drying concrete. Then all the generators are wired in series to get the collective output of all generators. A bitumen sheet is used to cover all the generators

to provide better adhesion between concrete and asphalt. At last a thick layer of asphalt is laid which Completes the construction.

Recent experimentation carried by Innowattech in Israel, consists of putting PEG’s (Piezoelectric Electric Generators) 6cm under the road level and at a distance of 30cm apart, and the whole system of being covered by layer asphalt. From trials, it has been observed that a tuck whose weight is around 5tons can generate about 2000V, and 1km stretch of generators along a dual carriageway assuming 600 vehicles go through that road segment in 1hour, can generate about 200kWh much enough energy. Similar method if we try to implement. Based on our calculations, we are considering an area about 100sq.ft & generation of power by single compact car. Supplied Data:Generator Size=1sq.ft. Cost of 1 generator= Rs.2000 approx. Required no. of generators= 49. (Distance between two consecutive generator= 0.5ft) Per kg generation= 0.4V/press. Weight of a compact car= 1354kg. Total charge generated= 1354*0.4 The minimum lifetime of this piezoelectric road is 15 years and also from the calculation we can observe that sensible amount of power is been generated making benefits of the invested money in much smarter way. The most profitable sides of this project is the green solution for generating power, conserving the energy used in road applications, working in all weather conditions and continuous generation. It doesn’t require any additional space and easily feasible to be fitted in current system. IV. Applications As the structure of the proposed system is compact, therefore it can be fitted in any structure increasing the areas of the applications. It can also be installed on footpaths to capture the wasted energy by the movement of peoples. It can also be used in runways converting the massive amount of pressure exerted by the aircrafts while landing and take-off converting it into huge amount of electrical potential. Also the system can be fitted in railway tracks in order to convert the pressure applied by the trains on tracks to a useful amount of energy. Piezoelectricity makes productive use of the wasteful energy that remains untapped every single time. It also R-TOES 2K17


could make a good amount of energy from high traffic area such a station platforms, and the areas having large number of public. V. Conclusion The recent venture on eco-friendly sources of energy has opened new doors for the global energy market. Piezoelectricity offers a valid alternative to conventional fuels. It is much cheaper and relatively easy to install and recycles the wasteful energy. However it should be mentioned that the scenario presented here is based on approximations and recent experimentation had proved that large amount of energy can be generated using the full amount of generated energy. Currently the efficiency is low, in range of about 20 to 30%. More development is required in this field in order to increase its efficiency and to develop efficient methods of utilization. As the field of electronics is advancing day by day, better synthesized crystals, efficient generators and better palaces for installation generating more amount of electricity and can be viewed as the next remising source for generation of electricity REFRENCES [1] Piezoelectricity. Development of Smart Monitoring and GSM Based Security System for automobiles Vedashri Dixit , Mayuri Jaodand, Anagha Deshmukh, Shyamalee Badole, Priyanka Vyawahare Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, G H Raisoni Academy of Engineering and Technology ABSTRACT: Security, especially theft security of vehicle nowadays has become a matter of concern. An effective two wheelers security system is implemented using an embedded system integrated with Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM). This proposed work is an attempt to design and develop a smart system that uses GSM to prevent theft. GSM system is used for sending the information regarding the key status to the owner of veh0icle. The measures like key detection, detecting if owner is sitting on the vehicle, locking the vehicle to stop it from getting started are installed in the vehicle which is controlled using owner’s mobile. The owner can unlock his/her vehicle with the help of SMS. This complete system is designed under taking considerations for small range vehicle to provide extreme security. Sometimes we run out of fuel because of less accuracy of analogue readings displayed on the LCD. Our project aims to overcome the problem mentioned above. Therefore, our second objective is to replace analogue fuel indication by the digital readings. Here we will digitally indicate exact availability of the fuel in the tank (e.g.: 1.4L, 2.4L, and 3.4L). By using this information we are also displaying how much distance will be travelled with the available amount of fuel. The precise reading of fuel will also help us to know the mileage of vehicle, and as the mileage is known the maintenance of vehicle will become easier. Keywords- BMP180, Hall Effect Sensor, Key Detection, Limit Switch. INTRODUCTION: Have you ever forgotten your two wheeler’s key, and go restless if you can’t find them? Yes, right? I think this should be the common answer amongst many people. In our lives, one or several time we all go through this anxious situation. So to overcome this problem of forgetting keys which in turns provokes larceny of twowheelers, we are providing theft security using GSM system to send an SMS to the owner if he forgets his key on vehicle and if he doesn’t reply back instantly the vehicle will be automatically locked and it will not start even if someone tries to. Also, because of analogue readings which are less accurate we cannot realize about the amount of fuel remaining of our vehicle due to which we end up going out of fuel many times. Therefore for this we are replacing the analogue speedometer and the fuel indication by the digital ones. The approximate distance that can be travelled with the remaining fuel is also displayed. The motive behind digital readings is to avoid human trouble and to make it user friendly. COMPONENTS AND TESTING: GSM: GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) is a digital mobile telephony system. TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) is used by GSM. It digitizes and compresses data and sends it down a channel with R-TOES 2K17


other streams of user data each in its own time slot. It operates at either the 900 MHz or 1800 MHz frequency band. GSM module is being used in this project to send and receive acknowledgement about the key status. LCD: A graphical LCD of size 128X64 is used. Fuel indication (graphical and digital), digital speedometer, odometer and distance to be travelled by the remaining fuel has been displayed on the LCD. RELAY: It will act as a circuit breaker. It will break the key to spark plug connection if the key is left inserted, refraining the two-wheeler from getting started. BMP180: BMP180 is a temperature and pressure sensor. It has a pressure sensing range of 300-1100 hPa. BMP180 has a resolution up to 0.03 hPa/0.25m and has a temperature accuracy of the range -40 to +85 degree Celsius. LDR: LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) are the devices whose resistivity is a function of incident Electro Magnetic radiation. They are made up of semiconductor materials having high resistance. It has been used for key detection along with laser

Fig (2). Key detection Limit Switch: It is a switch giving two potentials (high or low). The output depends upon the ON/OFF condition of switch. It has two conditions normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC). We are using limit switch in NC condition, in which if any object is placed on it the circuit will give low potential. Here, we are using this sensor to detect the presence of any person on the vehicle.

Fig (3). Testing of limit switch CONCLUSION: The testing of GSM module for key and RELAY switch to unlock the key and to get start ignition is done. We tested HALL SENSOR which is implemented for calculating Rpm, the objective of this technique is to get the average speed of vehicle. Also, with the indication of digital readings of fuel we have calculated distance to be travelled with the remaining fuel. The future study will involve the indication of fuel level by using Impress IMP-LR which will give more precise readings. NON TECHNICAL SECTION Average College Student Hello my fellow students, They told me that I have to write an article in college magazine because of one quality they recognized after my interview, that “I am an average student�. I said finally our time has come, for far too long our voices, the voices of the average students were drowned out in a sea of unique individuals and over the exceptional people. So I decided not to write an article but to have a conversation with you from my heart. All the years of relative mediocrity and refusing to think outside the box had finally paid off. We the average continue to proof that procrastination and apathy are not just big words but a way of life. This article is for the student who have never encounter a problem as an opportunity but instead a threat, for the same students who believes one day will be theirs, the ones who think Wikipedia is the greatest invention of 21st century. Looking back to 1st year it does feel like just yesterday, the first class, the first test, the first roommate, the second roommate, the third roommate and figuring out that you were the problem. The very first time you realize that money doesn't grow on tree, it's actually millions of tons of fibers and there's no sheeps in Nagpur, so you have to call your parents, then they send you sheep in the bank and you have to give clarification on that. The point is, we all came to college without knowing what we will become or what we will accomplish but we leave knowing who we are, what we have become and that is a gift treasured and remembered. May be average is the new exceptional. We live in a society which emphasizes on wealth, power and achievements. We are taught by the society that we should work for fame, fortune and dreams but I am sorry to say average is much more. Average is a parent who puts their child in school every day so they live a better life than what they had. Average is a professor who helps you understand that knowing who you are and owning your own sense of identity will only make you stronger individual here but more important in life. Average is knowing you don't receive respect, you have to earn it and you R-TOES 2K17


aren't given opportunity, you fight for it. If anyone is telling you different then they are lying. Average is amazing next to 20s on facebook; it is one of the greatest things in the world. As you spent time in college you should celebrate it. Thank all the people at each and every step of your life for being with you or had been with you, since they helped to shape us and to become what we are today. Thanks all of those people around you. As we move ahead into the future, do not forget the lessons of the past. Remember there is a fire to achieve greatness in you. Let’s face it, being average has it perks, no one thinks you are crazy and people will generally like you. Which bring to me to my final point “Know yourself, Fight for Yourself and win People's Hearts…”

It is all about the journey and what has yet to come. Life is what you make of it; you are what you've become. Life is too short to hold onto regrets. Forgiveness is key even though you may never forget. Cherish the good and remove the bad. Some people don't realize till it's gone what they've had. Moving on is a way of life. There will always be obstacles, pain, and strife. You must believe that you are strong enough to fight. You have to believe in yourself to do what is right. Always do for YOU no matter what you do, Because in the end the only one who has your back is you. Never be afraid to take a stand, And always be willing to lend a helping hand. Students from Electronics and Communication department secured 1st runner up position in Nagpur University Badminton Tournament. The Badminton tournament was conducted on the University ground dated 8th October 2016.

Four students Ms. Anagha Deshmukh, Ms. Mayuri Jaodand, Ms. Shyamlee Badole and Ms. Vedshri Dixit of final year of E&C Engg participated in zonal round of IITTECHFEST BOMBAY which was held at Bhopal on 25/09/2016. The name of the event was Meshflare (line following robot) in which they secured second position, making them eligible directly for the finals which is going to be held at IIT-Bombay from 16th – 18th December.

Also they won first prize in IIT Bombay Techfest Meshflare held at IIT-Bombay from 16th – 18th December. Supriya Sharma, Student of 3rd Semester, Electronics and Communication Department, GHARET, Nagpur has Won Prize as best Star Group Dancer in Dhamal Dandiya organized by Raisoni group. Event takes place on 7th of Oct. 2016.
