Cabinet finalizes talks with GE Transportation on renewal of Ukrzaliznytsia rolling stock The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has completed negotiations with U.S.based GE Transportation and by the end of this year an agreement on strategic partnership to implement a seven-year rolling stock renovation program for Ukrzaliznytsia will be signed, the government’s press service has said. The relevant agreement was achieved during a meeting of the GE Transportation leadership with Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman. «I am glad we have finalized our agreements, and all the documents must be coordinated and signed by the end
of the year. The government will facilitate this process,» the head of government said. The report says the active phase of negotiations on this project has been conducted for the last three months by the leadership of Ukrzaliznytsia with the support of the Ukraine Investment Promotion Office UkraineInvest. The parties agreed that within the framework of implementation of all agreements localization (the use of Ukrainian capacities) will increase to 40%. Quality management system of PJSC «Dnipropetrovsk Railway Switch Plant» is the basis for sustainable production management and release of high quality products PJSC «Dnipropetrovsk Railway Switch Plant» produces components for permanent way: turnouts (ordinary, symmetric, curved, double cross turnouts), diamonds of various types from rails R50, R65, European rails 49E1, 54E1, 60E1 for tracks with 1435 mm, 1520 mm and 1524 mm gauges, derailers, expansion joints. There are foundry and mechanical shops at the plant that provide production of turnout parts, diamonds and other elements for the permanent way. Complete production circle is implemented at the enterprise, starting from inhouse design department, specialized pattern shop, foundry shops and ending with machine-assembly shop where serial turnouts

Baku – Tbilisi – Kars railway corridor inaugurated The presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan and the prime ministers of Georgia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan attended a ceremony at the Port of Baku on October 30 to dispatch an inaugural freight train on the Baku – Tbilisi – Kars corridor. The heads of state and government then travelled to Alat station by train. The 849 km BTK programme is central to plans to create a rail corridor from the Caspian Sea to Europe via Turkey. It involved upgrading infrastructure in Azerbaijan and Georgia, rehabilitating 153 km of unused 1 520 mm gauge line from Marabda to a break-of-gauge facility at Akhalkalaki, and building 110 km of 1 435 mm gauge line to Kars via a 4,4 km tunnel under the Georgia-Turkey border at Kartsakhi. This completes the missing link between Georgia and Turkey, replacing a route through Armenia which has been out of use since the crossing between Turkey and Armenia was closed in 1993. Speaking at the inauguration, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said the BTK railway had become a reality because of the friendship of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia. He said shipments from China would be able to reach Europe in 15 days using the BTK route, and the initial capacity of 6,5 million tonnes of freight and 1 million passengers per year was expected to increase to 17 million tonnes and 3 million passengers per year in 2034. www.railwaygazette.com
Indian Railways is planning a massive surge of renewable energy deployment for its enormous network, aiming to meet 25% of its power demand with renewables, primarily solar, by 2025. Indian Railways could provide 5GW of solar power to its network through a $3.6bn investment. Annual advertising project! Saudi Arabia is planning to issue tenders for its longdelayed Land Bridge rail project linking the Red Sea port of Jeddah with the Arabian Gulf and the capital Riyadh by early 2018. The project originally included 958km of track between Jeddah and Riyadh, the upgrade of a 450km line between Riyadh and Dammam and a second 150km line between Dammam and Jubail. The consumers of our products are such enterprises as Illicha MMK in Mariupol, OJSC Turboatom, and Georgian Railways.
AND KNOW WHAT TO OFFER! To reduce the risk of locomotive derailment and damage of railway tracks, wheelset turning should be performed regularly. Doing this in time increases the wheelset service life. Presently, we have developed and put into quantity production lathe carriages for modernising wheelset lathes UBB112, UBC125, UBC150, 1836, and other machine tools. The carriages are installed instead of old hydraulic or mechanical ones. They are equipped with the Sinumerik 840Dsl NC system, linear guideways HIWIN and laser gauges for measuring the wheelset profile.
Lathe KS905F3, as regards its parameters, is close to UBF112N but it is much cheaper. It has two carriages fitted with a Siemens NC system. The wheelset is rotated with grippers that clamp the inner part of wheel treads (the force is applied radially). The grippers are of unique design requiring no readjustment for the diameter of machined wheelsets. The wheelset is positioned with a hydraulic jack.
Retrofitting the machine tools implies the installation of a variable-frequency spindle drive, new electric cabinets and a new hydraulic power unit.

During 2011-2016, AVIS retrofitted six wheelset lathes for the Georgian Railways. Machine tool 1836.10 was also retrofitted for the Luhansk Diesel Locomotive Plant.
We can also offer new lathes for machining wheelsets with roll-out (KS905F3) and with no roll-out for commuter trains and locomotives (KS906F3 and KS909F3).
RAILWAY WHEEL LATHE КS905F3 – TURNING WHEELSET TREADS The model KS905F3 machine tool is a special wheel lathe for turning wheelset treads over the range of wheel rolling circles of 840-1120 mm (or 840-1250 mm in a special design version) for a railway track gauge of 1520 (1524) mm. The machine tool is equipped with two lathe carriages for simultaneous machining of the left-side and rightside treads of a wheelset. Each carriage is fitted with a mechanism for automatically determining the geometric parameters of the machined surfaces. A Siemens NC system controls the machine tool. The special features of this system provide for operation of the left-side and right-side carriages simultaneously, though independently in time. The treads on both sides are machined using optimal cutting parameters and number of passes. Such an approach reduces overall wheelset machining time. Our unique proprietary software enables determining cutting parameters in a fully automatic mode. The machine tool operator has the option of adjusting the machining parameters provided by the control system. After such adjustment, the control system checks whether the input data are admissible.

It does not extend beyond the frame parts.
Automatic calculation of the cutting depth for the left-side and right-side carriages allows minimising the thickness of the metal removed for both sides to ensure equality of rolling circles of wheelset treads after machining. The operator can adjust the cutting depth to account for defects in the machined surfaces such as flat spots, cracks and others, which are not detected automatically. In so doing, the rolling circles of wheelset treads are machined to equal dimensions.
UNDERFLOOR WHEEL LATHE KS950F3 FOR TURNING LOCOMOTIVE WHEELSETS WITH NO ROLL-OUT FROM UNDER A LOCOMOTIVE Machine tool model KS950F3 is a special-purpose underfloor wheel lathe intended for turning locomotive wheelsets with no roll-out from under a locomotive. The range of diameters of wheel rolling circles is unlimited, with the rail track width of 1520 (1524) mm. The overall dimensions of lathe KS950F3 allow installing it in the underfloor space of machine tool model KZh20 made by other manufacturers. The wheelset is rotated in the lathe by electric motors with the help of friction rollers. The model is equipped with two lathe carriages for machining simultaneously the left-side and right-side wheelset treads. Each carriage is fitted with a mechanism for automatically determining the geometric parameters of the machined surfaces. A Siemens NC system controls the machine tool. The special features of this system provide for operation of the left-side and right-side carriages simultaneously, though independently in time. The treads on both sides are machined using optimal cutting parameters and number of passes. Such an approach reduces overall wheelset machining time. Our unique proprietary software enables determining cutting parameters in a fully automatic mode. Another option is the delivery of software for maintaining machining logs. The log contains information about the locomotive, the number of the machined axle, the date and time of machining, and the geometry of the rolling circle profile after machining.

OJSC Holding Management Company «Belkommunmash» is one of the leading CIS enterprises in the field of electric transport with more than 40 years history of successful work on repair and production of trolleybuses and trams. The world community has begun to pay more attention to the care of the environment, in recent years. In particular, many governments have been thinking about the gradual abandonment of diesel and gasoline passenger transport, which causes irreparable damage of the atmosphere and affects adversely people’s health, especially in large dynamically developing cities. The newest development of OJSC «Holding Management Company «Belkommunmash» is electric bus model «Vitovt Max Electro» E433. Ukrainian enterprise CE «Odesgorelektrotrans» had already shown interest to this machine. «The electric bus is an innovative product with all the advantages of a trolleybus and a bus, while excluding their disadvantages,» says Oleg Bytsko, one of its creators, director of the «Belkommunmash» Research and Production Center». «Belkommunmash» chose the fast charging system based on the supercapacitor for the electric bus. To charge from 30% to 100%, the electric buses «Vitovt» need only 6-7 minutes! This short time fits into the driver’s break between trips, which allows the bus to run both shifts, the whole working day and doesn’t require a long night charge. By the way, the system of supercapacitors can be used at ambient temperatures from -40°C to +40°C, without losing its capacity in extremely cold weather conditions. The enterprise has already implemented the project of electric buses launching in Minsk. It should be noticed that the Belarusian capital is the first city in the CIS, which launched fully electric bus route. Since May 2017, 20 electric buses «Vitovt Max Electro» E433 have been running routes in Minsk. In terms of comfort, the electric bus is not worse, but even better than bus and trolleybus. One of the main advantages: this type of vehicle works almost silently, it’s indispensable for the big cities, because the noise level there is very high. The World Health Organization more than thirty years ago proved that noise significantly affects people’s health: they become more prone to stress and insomnia, and the risk of cardiovascular diseases increases. Also, the electric bus produced by «Belkommunmash» is equipped with a system of the floor level lowering from the entrance side («kneeling»). Another very nice characteristic of the Belarusian electric bus is the instalation of sockets and USB-connectors, so passengers will be able to charge their mobile gadgets during the trip - for modern citizens it is necessary, because in our time it is important to always stay online. The range of transport produced by the enterprise is wide. The most popular and beloved model operated by the transport organizations is the 321 trolleybus. This model has been produced since 2001, it is a single-section maneuverable vehicle. Trolleybus model 321 passenger capacity is up to 101 passengers, it has 26 seats, as well as one space for a wheelchair. There is low floor level along the entire length of the cabin in the trolleybus. this model is equipped with a ramp, which facilitates access to the vehicle of passengers with limited mobility or with baby carriages, which reduces the time of boarding at stopping points. Apart from other advantages, trolleybus model 321 produced by «Belkommunmash» is a safe vehicle: thanks to the unique body structure with the placement of power equipment on the roof in hermetic compartments, operation of the trolleybus under all weather conditions is guaranteed to be safe. To improve maneuverability, this trolleybus model can be equipped with an autonomous system based on a diesel generator set intended for pow-

However, the line of vehicles produced by the Belarusian company is expanding, because in a modern fast-growing, dynamic city, the transportation must be mobile. Therefore, the constructor department of «Belkom-
Tram model 843 munmash» developed the 32100D, the modification of the classic 321 trolleybus with an increased autonomous motion of 15 kilometers, which can travel either using or not using current collectors. This feature makes it possible to connect new areas of the city, where there is no contact network, with the oldest ones, without harming their ecology. The 32100D accumulates electricity during the movement under the contact network, and then it can put down current collectors and to run autonomously, depending on the battery power. The enterprise has already produced and sold 32 units of this model, which are running now in the CIS countries. In addition to trolleybuses and electric buses, the company produces tramways. Since 2011, the articulated three-section tram model 843 is operating in Kiev. The
competitions for the renovation of tramway parks on the basis of new bodies installed on the overhauled carriages would be hold in several cities of Ukraine and OJSC «Holding Management Company «Belkommunmash» plans to participate in them. «Belkommunmash» will continue cooperation with Ukrainian consumers. The enterprise established JV «BKM-Ukraine» in Lutsk for trolleybuses joint assembly. Also the creation of a joint venture for tramways assembly in Odessa is being worked out.

EXPRESS SERVICE LOCOMOTIVES â€“ RELIABLE SOLUTION TO EVERY SHUNTING TASK MDD 3 diesel shunting locomotives MDD 3 is the smallest two-axle shunter. It is powered by two synchronized diesel engines that deliver 300kW of power. Due to a good choice of gearboxes, vehicle top speed could be adjusted between 15 and 60km/h thus customers select the optimal tractive effort. These locos are quite flexible not only in terms of top speed â€“ their mass is adjustable from just 20 tons for metro and urban rail projects to 36 tons for heavy industrial shunting works. Hauling capacity is up to 1600 tons. This model is homologated in Bulgaria, Ukraine, Kosovo, Macedonia but it is generally intended to perform in-yards at industrial sites, ports, factories.

MDD 3 diesel shunting locomotive
MDD 4 diesel shunter MDD 4 meets all medium shunting requirements. It is powered by a 400kW Tier 4F engine thus the loco is the most eco-friendly diesel shunter in Europe. It is homologated in Switzerland, Italy and Bulgaria and could obtain permission in most EU administrations. Locomotive is extremely economic with idle fuel spending of just 2l/h. ES battery-electric shunters Battery traction offers very economic, clean and safe shunting. That’s why Express Service developed several series of battery-powered vehicles – both rail and rail/ road ones. Battery locos have extremely low operation costs and are virtually maintenance free. They have numerous advantages over the diesel shunters and one major drawback – design speed. Battery shunting locomotives are the best-selling products of Express Service. Through cooperation with its main customer – Hegenscheidt MFD from Germany – Bulgarian shunters are exported to many different locations in the whole world. Of course, all shunters are safety integrated with UWL machines of Hegenscheidt.

Apart from wheel lathes applications these shunters are mainly used in locomotive and wagon repair depots and workshops, rolling stock factories, industrial plants, ports, logistic terminals. ES600 and ES1000 battery shunters These two series are the most popular models. Their full-load shunting speed is up to 10km/h – their advantage is at slow, repetitive operations with a lot of idling time. In January 2017, Ukrzaliznytsya commission carried out qualification tests of permanent way elements in order to set up mass production according to Ukrainian state standards. Commission made positive conclusions as to preparation of all technical documentary processes, incoming inspection of raw materials and identified key physical and mechanical properties of products that are ordered by Ukrzaliznytsia. As a result of the commission, protocols and acts were put together of qualification tests that proves the ability of the company to manufacture and supply high quality products to the consumer that meet modern technical requirements.

The task of the ROTRAC E2 (shunting capacity up to 250 t) and the Rotrac E4 (shunting capacity up to 500 t) is to haul locomotives and railcars at locations like unloading docks, harbours, private railroad companies and repair workshops. Two main requirements of these application areas are very high tractive force of the shunting vehicles as well as their capability of leaving the track and travelling distances between tracks on asphalt. The rubber-coated drive wheels of the ROTRAC E2 and ROTRAC E4 run on the rails and provide the vehicleâ€™s drive, while the lateral guide on rail is achieved by means of metal rollers. The four fully synchronized single-wheel drives are controlled by means of two control units (one per axle) that function in master-slave mode. The key features of the ROTRAC E2 and ROTRAC E4 include a high starting torque, four-wheel drive with electric drive system technology from Linde Hydraulics

The Road/Rail Unimog is also an appropriate road/rail winter service vehicle. Equipped with snow plough, sweeper and sanding system it can remove snow from tracks and roads with the sanding system increasing traction on rails. The Unimog’s hydraulically lowered rail guidance system serves for keeping the vehicle on rail, while the main traction is guaranteed by rubber tires. Eight forward and eight reverse gears enable speeds of up to 50 km/h in either direction on rail and 90 km/h on road.
Unimog as a shunter It’s first-class diesel engine, high-performance transmission and all-wheel drive with differential locks speak for Unimog’s power. Thanks to its rubber road tires, the Unimog creates a very high coefficient of friction, generating high tractive force. This enables the Unimog to easily pull or push heavy loads up to 1000 t. For shunting, the Unimog is additionally equipped with a railway wagon brake system for loads of more than 100 t. The brake system comes from the Knorr- Bremse AG, which is the worldwide leader of braking system and ensure quick filling of the railcar’s air tanks for reliable and safety work. The construction of the Unimog allows the installation of different types of rail coupling systems – mechanical, automatic or custom-tailored special versions. The vehicle is optionally available with radio remote control and can thus be operated by one driver only.
The Unimog –cross functional assistant for plenty of tasks The Unimog is not just a multifunctional road vehicle as we are used to see it on the streets. Besides its operation on roads it is also a full-fledged rail vehicle which can rapidly switch between rail and road. ROTRAC RR Alternative for locks ROTRAC RR is a line of rail/road vehicles ranging from 16 to 40 tons and capable of moving trains weighing from 1800 to 4500 tons. They find their application in sidings, ports, cement- and chemical industry, steelworks, terminals, in brief on places where freight cars are to be moved locally at low speed (< 25 km/h) The guiding of the vehicle on the rails comes from two guiding axles. They are lifted and lowered by 2 hydraulic cylinders per axel. The controlling of the guiding axels occurs from out the cabin. Only a limited space of 6 m, where the rails have the same level as the road, is necessary for re-and de-rail. Almost all ROTRAC RR vehicles are available with execution for rail gauges from 1067 mm to 1676 mm. The ROTRAC RR vehicles are equipped with two brake systems: the vehicle braking and the wagon braking system. The traction of the vehicle always comes from its rubber wheels. As the friction coefficient of rubber on iron is Âą 3 times bigger then iron on iron, a rail/ road vehicle with 1/3 of the weight of a locomotive is able to pull the same load. All RWA systems are adapted to current railway maintenance regulations. Our systems use exclusively standard protocols and interfaces, and batch production equipment. This facilitates the development of systems along the following lines: integration with other systems; identification of mobile units, train traffic schedules, etc. RWA-developed systems are built around Schneider Electric components intended for industrial automation systems. The “two-out-of-two” system structure, jointly with high-reliability hardware (e.g., the MTBF is 300 000400 000 hours (~ 30-40 years)), enables building systems whose safety and reliability parameters meet railway standards. The application software of the systems is developed in the UnityPro programming environment, which supports international standard IEC 61131-3. All this provides an integrated program development environment for control systems in several programming languages.

RWA control systems are open architecture ones. The UnityPro software is based on the open systems principle. This facilitates its effective and seamless interaction with the software of other systems. This program environment enables programming in the following standard languages: FBD – function blocks language, graphic programming language of the IEC 61131-3 standard and LD – the ladder logic language with a convenient syntax to replace relay-based logic circuits. Hence, when developing systems, programming languages are used that match closely the specific features of building railway automation systems, and include relay equipment and a set of standard blocks.
Standard programming languages enable building open-architecture systems with user-friendly software for service personnel having basic skills in computer engineering. The strict program execution sequence yields a simple internal structure of commands, which are translated to an efficient and reliable code. This excludes the possibility of introducing errors, which occur often when developing programs with object-oriented languages. Development and debugging is performed at all levels with utmost use of off-the-shelf computer-aided design (CAD) systems.
RWA includes four divisions: RWA development, RWA design, RWA supply, and RWA construction that embrace any tasks ranging from design and through to commissioning.
RWA control systems require no user fees. Why pay more? Using the software requires no payment of regular user fees in the future. The software includes diagnostics tools. Such an approach enables operating RWA-developed railway automation and telemechanics systems by the standing staff of industry specialists. Upon system commissioning, the customer is given a complete package of technical documentation, including application software presented in clear graphic form that duplicates the signalling arrangement (SA) ladder diagrams. The printed text keeps the original application software intact and allows for amendments in compliance with the procedure in effect at railway transport for making changes in SA ladder diagrams.
We adapt customer’s personnel! Our systems – Your personnel! No programmers are needed to make changes in the application software. It suffices to have industry specialists employed by your enterprise or specialists who have been trained at our training centres or on site during pre-commissioning activities. These specialists are granted the right to make changes in the application software similar to that as in the practice of operating relay systems (making changes in the copies of the traffic department, division, and line section). To protect from making unauthorised changes in the application software, the service personnel is assigned the following access levels: • review and introduce changes; • only a review. The list of persons authorised to make changes in the application software is compiled by the division management and approved by the signalling and communication department management. The above-stated principle concerns all the varieties of railway automation and telemechanics systems – station, blocks, hump interlocking, level crossing signalling, dispatcher control, CTC, etc.

Electric locomotives of series ВЛ11М/6 are successfully exploited on rail roads of Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
Modification of mainline electric locomotive ВЛ11М/6 is an electric locomotive 8E1. While designing this locomotive, latest technical solutions of contemporary electric locomotive construction were used. The electric locomotive is equipped with 8 traction motors (volume of each – 820 kWt) of the collector type ТЛ-6R, in which instead of motor-axial bearings, rolling bearings are used. Transmission of the traction force and breaking from the cart to the body is performed by inclined tractions. Second stage of the springing is realized with «FlexiCoil» springs. For pneumatic system is used screw compressor with asynchronous driving gear. For cooling system of electric locomotive is also used asynchronous driving gear. Electric locomotive is controlled with electric controller. Control systems and diagnostics are microprocessor-based. Electric locomotive is equipped with alarm and firefighting systems. For on-board power supply and excitation coils for supplying electric traction electric motors, static converters are used. Electric locomotive is equipped with ecologically clean sanitary-technical module. On December 30th, 1957 the plant produced its first mainline electric locomotive of a direct current Н8-201.
Coke-quenching electric locomotives ЭК15, ЭК14У, ЭК14 and ЭК13, produced by JSC «LOCOMOTIVE BUILDER», are successfully exploited on coke-quenching batteries and in steel mills of the neighboring and distant foreign countries, and surpass all the famous, foreign produced similar electric locomotives in accordance with the pricequality. These locomotives are produced with the consideration of climate zones, gauge standards and technical conditions.

The plant has developed and implemented a program of modernization of mainline electric locomotives of ВЛ10 and ВЛ11 series, which considers mounting auxiliary engines, control panels, microprocessor technology and statistical converters of new generation. At present, in the scope of joint project with company SKODA ELECTRIC a.s, development of design documents are over on eight-axle mainline electric locomotive 8Е1А with asynchronous traction engines, which is intended for freight trains with electric load of 3000V with 1520 mm of gauge width. Electric locomotive has high traction volume and constructional speed of 120 km/hr.
At present, the plant is carrying out a massive modernization and technical re-equipment project of the production. Projects for the galvanic and hardware workshops reconstruction have been performed, is accredited the center of performing certifying tests of electric machinery and devices. On the plant is systematically implemented the introduction of new technologies and is being performed update of equipment park. The policy of the enterprise in the scope of quality development is an important function of the plant management. Is being performed control of all the production stages of electric locomotives and their supporting accessories. Due to the efficient functioning of the quality management system, which is certified according to the ISO 9001:2015 requirements, systematic improvement of production activities is carried out. At the plant, a multi-stage quality control system for the products was introduced. Electric locomotives, produced by JSC “LOCOMOTIVE BUILDER” are successfully exploited of Railroads of Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia and Ukraine.
In the development process of 8Е1А specialists were guided by the following principles: • contemporary salvation in locomotive construction; • development of safety level; • simplifying technical service and repairs • reducing operating costs. JSC “LOCOMOTIVE BUILDER” is successful in performing overhaul and modernization of mainline and industrial electric locomotives of different modifications. Modernization of Locomotive Park is directed to development of technical characteristics and increase of reliability. «GROZA» set of electrical equipment for galvanic isolation of high-voltage equipment
“Groza” set of electrical equipment is developed by us for retrofitting electric locomotive of VL11M series. The set provides galvanic isolation of electrical circuits for measurement of currents of traction motors and voltage in contact system, fed from high-voltage chamber to visualization devices of the locomotive driver’s desk, during repair & restoration works and retrofitting. This development provides digital processing of analog signals fed to its inputs from current and voltage sensors, with subsequent transmission of information from these signals in digital form along communication line; stabilized supply voltage of the unit, as well as galvanic isolation from information communication line. “Groza” set makes it possible to process digital information delivered along communication line, to form transmission and reception of digital information signal along trunk communication line with provision of galvanic isolation.

«HAREKS - DG» set of electrical equipment is designed for gathering, processing and imaging of diagnostic information from DC electric locomotive control system. «Prometheus» fire-alarm and fire-fighting system «Prometheus» fire-alarm and fire-fighting system is designed for use in electric trains, electric locomotives, diesel locomotives, diesel trains and underground railroad cars for the purpose of automatic detection of fires in early stage of their development. Our system will notify timely the locomotive driver of ignition points, switching on automatic fire-fighting means, switching off/ on electrical equipment circuits and different actuators in case of arising any fire-hazardous situation, as well as it will retain in energy-independent memory information on all changes of system condition with reference to real time of event arising. The system meets the current requirements and European standards.
«Prometheus» fire-alarm system Our system provides indication and audio signaling of the point and cause of fire arising, as well as it makes it possible to combine sections (2 to 8 sections) into single system with possibility of indication of each section condition on DPUI display of the main section and data exchange between DPUI display of the main section and fire-section control reception devices by RS- 485 communication channel. «Prometheus» fire-alarm system controls serviceability of signal tail, fire annunciators, input-output modules, serviceability of circuits leading to actuating components – fire-fighting means, runs in real time, carries out programmed setting-up of annunciators actuation parameters and archiving of alarm events. «Prometheus» fire-alarm system is designed for annunciation and early detection of ignition places in cars of railway transport, electric and diesel locomotives. The fire-alarm system consists of receiving fire control device, remote control and indication panel, fire annunciator, input-output module, visualand visual/audio panels, as well as backup power source.
Set of electrical equipment for voice informing system
For the purpose of provision of emergency communication between electric train locomotive driver and passengers in extraordinary situations, voice reproduction of station names along train coursing route and other service information, as well as voice reproduction of information from the locomotive driver over all train cars, we developed a set of electrical equipment for loud speaking communication system, as well as voice notification on the basis of RS-485 digital interface or Ethernet, which is designed for installation in cars of electric trains of underground railroads.

Research-and-Production Enterprise Techvagonmash makes unique equipment – automated drilling machines for railway car building. AUTOMATED WORKBENCH FOR CENTER SILLS DRILLING Drilling and all other manufacturing operations are fully automated. The operator needs only to place the center sill on the workbench frame by means of a crane, and the pneumatic clamps and the rammers will perform all other clamping and product positioning operations. Next, a hi-tech drilling gantry equipped with two drilling heads carries out the cycle of simultaneous drilling of the entire group of holes on both sides of the center sill. The gantry is
equipped with two interchangeable tool magazines capable of changing tools according to the operator’s program. Besides, the gantry automatic control equipment is capable of determining independently the positions of the center sill stops. For this purpose, it is equipped with a probe for accurate positioning of the drilled holes relative to the product, a pneumatic workholding system, and a system for supplying/collecting and cleaning the coolant-cutting fluid. Automation of the center sill drilling workbench ensures high accuracy and uniformity of drilled holes according to preset parameters during the entire drilling cycle. It also cuts substantially the parts machining time and reduces the production area needed for production operations half the size.
TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS MULTIPURPOSE WORKBENCH FOR AUTOMATIC FRAME DRILLING The workbench is used for making different types of railway cars: gondola cars, hopper cars, boxcars, etc. It has all the characteristics inherent to those of earlier described workbenches. It is also serviced by one operator and cuts car frame machining (riveting and drilling) time to 40 minutes, with drilling taking about 25 minutes. RPE Techvagonmash manufactures various lifting equipment and automated assembly and welding lines used for making bodies of electric locomotives, diesel locomotives, freight and passenger cars, and metro and tramcar bodies. Research-and-Production Enterprise Techvagonmash implements projects not only for railway car building and car repair enterprises, but also for heavy machine building and power machine building enterprises, constructional metalworks, enterprises for making towed vehicles and attachable implements, chemical machine building enterprises, and iron-and-steel works.
LINE FOR APPLYING SERVICE AND CORROSION-RESISTANT COATINGS ON RAILWAY WHEELS In 2016, a project on developing a line for applying service and corrosion-resistant coatings on railway wheels was carried out for Interpipe Company. The line embraces the entire range of wheels manufactured by the company. The line equipment was developed in full compliance with Interpipe-prepared technology of applying the most technologically involved service coating Wilckens SEB 9303, which is an indicator of wheel surface in-service overheating. The first indications of overheating on the wheel surface coating (at t=220-230 °С the coating changes its colour, and at t=250-300 °С, the coating bubbles) are evidence of the need to change the wheelset. In spite of the line service term being short, it has received a positive appraisal of the Customer.
In addition, RPE Techvagonmash manufactures a wide range of shotblasting and shotpeening equipment, painting and lifting equipment that can be used at enterprises with various specialisations. The enterprise is a leader in Ukraine in implementing robotic welding complexes. Welding professionals were trained at the Paton Electric Welding Institute and hold IWE qualification certificates (international welding engineer, international industrial process engineer). The Quality Austria Company also certified the welding engineering as per ISO 3834-2-2005. RPE Techvagonmash is the official system integrator of Fanuc Robotics (Japan). Since 2009, the enterprise has had the Quality Management System corresponding to ISO 9001:2008 international standard. This is confirmed annually by the independent audit performed by Quality Austria (Austria), a world leader in certification of quality management systems. AUTOMATED METAL ROLL STORAGE SYSTEMS Techvagonmash offers a multipurpose and in-demand product – automated metal roll storage system. This is a modern solution for storage of a wide range of metal roll, its control and identification. In automated storage systems, metal roll is stored in special trays; after being loaded they are moved automatically to storage cells. This is an essentially new storage method that offers many advantages: • stock tracking of materials with identification of their exact location (storage cell) • controlling the procedures of making book entries/ write-off, using the data of the automated warehouse controller • generating requisite reports • ensuring limitation of access to data, using the authorization mode, • building up substantial reserves of production raw materials in close proximity to machining equipment and tools. Automated storage systems provide for several safety measures that prevent the operator to overload a cassette. Cassette filling is controlled with weight sensors and filling level sensors. The storage control system has a user-friendly interface enabling any employee to master storage control after a short training session. Using automated storage systems for rolled sheet and shaped metal stock allows utilizing available storage units with utmost effectiveness at any production facilities. Besides, the principles of multifunctionality and multipurposeness are at the heart of the architecture of automated storage systems offered by RPE Techvagonmash. Using off-the-shelf solutions enables creating automated storage systems with a wide range of parameters to meet customer’s demands.

he main business lines of the Scientific Industrial Enterprise «Plant of communi cation technology and automation» include research and development works, development and production of equipment for signaling control systems on railway and under ground railway transport systems. The following equipment is produced at the company: • all kinds of crossover cable assembly system cabinets; • relay and battery cabinets of all modifications; • neutral electromagnetic relays; • contactless electronic relays; • relay blocks of the executive group; • plug in rack-mounted units of different types and modifications; • cable cabinets; • power-down boards, including those controlled remotely; • line boxes and cable coupling sleeves; • building-out and blocking networks; • cable ladders; • level crossing signaling system boards; • tonal rail circuits equipment; • jacks and distribution panels; • adjustable resistors and a number of other products.
As of today, the company’s product portfolio reaches more than three hundred items and continues to expand. Scientific Industrial Enterprise «Plant of communication technology and automation» («ZTZA» PE SIE) is the only Ukrainian manufacturer of neutral electromagnetic relays and relay boxes of electric interlocking. Each type of product undergoes a complete cycle of performance and investigation tests under the supervision of the Department of Automation and Telecommunication of the JSC «Ukrzaliznytsia». Department of Automation and Telecommunication granted the Signal Telephone and Telegraph Departments permissions to use all types of products on the railways of Ukraine. The «ZTZA» PE SIE in close cooperation with the Department of Automation and Telecommunication successfully carried out a seven-year package of measures to create such products as compact neutral electromagnetic relays (61 items), relay boxes of electric interlocking (17 items). These products are basic items in the signaling control systems on a rail transport system and until recently were supplied only from the Russian Federation. Besides, relays produced at the «ZTZA» PE SIE have several advantages over existing: • relay housing is made of non-combustible materials; • transparent casing does not tarnish and retain its properties during the whole period of its use; • external relay contacts are wedge-shaped, protecting cabinet socket contacts against crushing; • electrical and mechanical characteristics of relay remain throughout the whole period of its use, which is confirmed by reliability and endurance tests.
These benefits also apply to all units produced by the «ZTZA» PE SIE in the gear oil pump relay housings. For instance, time delay units, ground alarms, pulse-generating units, electronic relays and other plug in rackmounted units. Also, the Enterprise is constantly working to develop electronic blocks and relays. According to the technical requirements of the Department of Automation and Telecommunications, the Company has already designed, conducted tests and obtained a permit for application of time delay digital units of the second generation TDDU-D2 (BVMSh-Ts2). Among the advantages of these units is a large number of gradations of time delay, from 2 seconds to 6 minutes with a pitch of 2 seconds, remotely controlled alarm system signaling about potential problems and resistance to power supply voltage fluctuations. For a long period of time, the Company has been mass producing universal digital ground alarm systems GAS-DU (SZI-TsU). Their peculiarity consists in the fact that they replace the GAS-1M (SZI-1М) and GAS-1M (SZI-2М) types alarm systems and they can work with alternating (24V, 220V), constant and rectified not stabilized (12, 24, 60 and 220V) voltage of the controlled voltage source. The company recently successfully completed operational test of the electronic relay TSH-65Е. As part of the operational test, reliability test, during which relay components in-service failures were artificially simulated, has been carried out. As a result, it was proved that relay does not lead to critical failures (switching of more clear light signal) in the case of failure of the relay components. Relay successful without failure has been operating in areas, where mechanical analogs of this type of relay had accelerated wear of contacts.
In 2013, the «ZTZA» PE SIE received a Certificate for quality management system, which confirms the compliance of the Enterprise’s quality system with the requirement of DSTU ISO 9001:2009.

Electronic pulse relays PRR (IVB) and PR-1700E (IMSh-1700E) has been certified. Circuit design is meant to prevent failures such as continued work of normally closed relay channel in pulsed mode (13-33 contacts) in case of breakdown of normally open channel (33-53 contacts), while working in the code switching mode in AC or DC track circuits. Relays can replace mechanical relays of these types upon condition that additional supply voltage is provided. In late 2016, according to the results of successful operation testing and registration of technical conditions, the «ZTZA» PE SIE obtained from the Department of Automation and Telecommunications a permit for application of pulse-generating units PGU-1 (DIM-1) and PGU-2 (DIM-2). Unlike similar units from other manufacturers, in these units modern element base that meets modern standards is used. Moreover, the Company does not forget to support the products that are commercially available for many years. The Company constantly modernizes and adapts its products to meet new regulatory requirements and customer wishes. For example, new design of crossover cable assembly system cabinets is under development now.
