Pasmore represented Britain at the 1961 Venice Biennale, was participating artist at the Documenta II 1959 in Kassel and was a trustee of the Tate Gallery, donating a number of works to the collection.

This exhibition features a selection of etchings, aquatints, screenprints and lithographs dated between 1986 and 1997 Pasmore developed his imagers in print form over four decades, from the renaissance of printmaking in Britain in the 1960’s untis his death in 1998 The process was invariabley a collaborative one between Pasmore and the printer, with the artist drawing on the studio’s particular skills and developing images appropriate to them
Born in Chelsham, Surrey, on 3 December 1908, Victor Pasmore pioneered the development of abstract art in Britain in the 1940s and 1950s.
He studied painting part time at the Central School of Art and was associated with the formation of the Euston Road School His break into abstract art was inspired by the artists Piet Mondrian and Paul BeginningKlee in 1947, he developed a purely abstract style under the influence of Ben Nicholson and other artists associated with Circle, becoming a pioneering figure of the revival of interest in Constructivism in Britain following the War.. Pasmore's abstract work, often in collage and construction of reliefs, pioneered the use of new materials and was sometimes on a large architectural scale In 1950, he was commissioned to design an abstract mural for a bus depot in Kingston upon Thames[8] and the following year Pasmore contributed a mural to the Festival of Britain that promoted a number of the British Constructivists

The source material that de Lima draws upon is as wide ranging as her mark making: memories, music, poetry and philosophy, are all meditated upon by de Lima throughout her process. In this exhibition, a sequence of her works take their titles from two of her favourite poems by Federico García Lorca, Ballad of the Moon Moon and the Canción de jinete The pieces may not explicitly reference these poems but something very personal in the experience of reading them will have inspired de Lima’s compositions and influenced her process “For me, painting is the letting go of the definite, of trying to control the outcome, but allowing for the unexpected, the joy of new discoveries ” Louise de Lima ,

The works in this exhibition use paint, collage and mixed media to create a broad repertoire of forms, gestures and surfaces The rhythms within the works form gentle meditations, with shapes placed with tremendous sensitivity Negative spaces judged expertly and balanced perfectly
Louise de Lima originally used photography as her medium for more than 20 years. She describes her move into painting over a decade ago, as a natural progression. The move from figurative work into abstraction providing a new form of communication and a new visual language to be explored
