Tananger Havn Tanager is an idyllic town, with long maritime traditions. The History, the building tradition and the active harbor in Tananger gives the area beneficial qualities and character. The area is continually changing, today there are 7500 inhabitants, but the number is expected to increase to 13 000 inhabitants the next 30 years.

The town consists mainly of commercial buildings and apartments of different grades. The area has a lack of structure, logic pedestrian paths and few qualities that remind us of a town square. The asfalt dominates the area, with the road between the quays and the parking spot on the other side. Still, Tananger has managed to keep their fishing culture alive, and is one of the most popular spots on the west coast of Norway for buying fresh fish and lobster directly from fishing boats.

On the opposite side there are some women that express the need for a space to meet during the whole year and can be used for everyone in Tananger.

The seniors meet everyday at twelve o´clock, turn on the coffee machine inside the boat house and sit on the bench right beside the house. They are happy about the existing situation, no need to change.

1: The communication between the quay and the town

On the quay, there are normally three fishing boats at port in Tananger. There is a fine line between how the boats divide and use this space between them. One selling crabs, another crayfish, a third lobster. They are afraid that changes will create problems for them.

7.The new building The building connect the different directions together (the green axes, the town and the harbor). The open structure of the building, make it possible to still havr a visual connection to the dock. The open structure contain two boxes; one for the fishers, where they can store their nets and have a workshop and the other for the visitors.

A mosaic structures are exposed through the green axes. On the tip, this structure will be clearified with a ”Gaudi shaped wave”. It will be possibilities for bathing, shelter 1.

One of our ideas, is to design a table in granite where the leftover can be collected and used to other purpose.

Based on the round trafo (Transformer), we want to established a corner to sit and play with. Is starts around the trafo´s shape and are futher formed as a mini amfi against the noise from the road. This

the control from the human interference. Our ”preservation”, was to build a steel structure that can be filled with glass in the wintertime. 6. Rethinking CLT New wood, open form was a course where we was trying to rethinking wood structures in relation to open form. �Open form� is in this course based on Oscar Nikolai Hansens ( 1922-2005) use of the terminology. Very shortly it can be explained as a space that have the right conditions to create interaction with; a space where your personal actions easily create traces in the space.

REHINKING CLT

The investigation of this research is done in the challenge of creating a day-center for seniors and kindergarten kids in Sandviken, Bergen. This group and their activities, are used as the parameter to decide the shape of the form.


Making use of left over CLT cuts My starting point was my expression of the passiveness with a CLT wall. Is it possible to make this material easier to interact with and to make them more adaptable for more specific situations? In relation to this answer, I also included a recycle aspect, and question a new way of using the left-over material, versus today, where it is normally reused as fuel.

Crossliminated timber (clt), are glued together in five layers, where the outher part is made of lerk. They are precut in the fabric in the maximum size of a panel in the fabric.

The pieces are premade in the way that the ”leftover” material are also used as slabs or walls. The ”leftover” pieces are twisted horisontal or vertical, that manage to create a 3d spaces that futher development can be created.

The timber are transported to the wanted area and are elevated up piece by piece, combined together. Normaly in the maximum size of 12x3.2 meter

Final Result

The construction is made in a wave that make the visitor experience the tension in the wood while he or she are walking on it. The profiles will react differently, relating to the different shapes. It is made in LVL and are connected to the concrete bridge by bolts and knife blades. All the shape are thicker in the end (50cm) and thin in the middle (6cm). The different shape are arrange together in a way that make them work as a stair, a roof, a pier, a place to sit over and under, alone or with other. www

A climate Chamber for Pilgrims

Kvamsøy is a small area in the longest fjord in Norway; Sognefjorden. The climate is tropical-like, with a lot of both sun and rain, as well as a mineral rich earth. This special climate result in a high biological diversity regarding the vegetation in the forest. Outside Kvamsøy there is a small island with an church, that earlier was an important stop for religious pilgrims. In this project, my goal is to make a shelter for the modern day pilgrims, but also a shelter for the normal hikers who are just passing by. The program will mainly be a place to rest, meditate, and take a step back from the dominating impressions.

Ønsket var å skape et nytt havneområde, som aktiverte havnen og Å klare å koble sammen eksisterende park, fremtidig boligområde, torg og kai. Vårt grep var: 1. å ivareta det som var mulig å ivareta, for å kunne beholde det meste av identiteten. 2. Å etablere en grønn diagonal akse som trakk seg fra toppen av parken og ned til ytterste del av kaien. 3. å etablere et bygg som fungerer som et knutepunkt, og koble sammen parken, havnen, torget og den nye bolig arealet.
