Hyderabad City is 400 years old city It has now almost 7 million citizens About 9000 policemen are there in the city There are 65 police stations and 18 traffic police stations • Almost all the police stations are connected by broadband • Yet the citizens were not satisfied.
Quality, a major casualty • Traffic Challan compliance was frustratingly low • Citizens always wanted updated info on traffic status • Citizens wanted bandobust forecasts so that to plan for next day. • Except for meeting superiors personally there was no alternative for grievance redressal.
Crime Awareness was low.. • Counter crime campaigns were ad hoc • Victims of cybercrime were the most harassed lot • City police didn’t have enough trained hands to investigate cybercrime. • Press was finding it very difficult to get press notes • Lack of transparency led to confusion and corruption
â€˘ Services like Arms licence, Passport verification, foreigners registration were confusing â€˘ Many citizens complained about the luke warm response of dial 100 system â€˘ Communication gap within the organisation. - Radio/fax messages not reaching the field ranks - Abnormal delay in delivery of messages - Hang ups in the web based services - Lack of knowledge about sensational crimes, issues of law and order implications, urgent issues concerning citizens - No secrecy about sensitive messages

Smaller Innovations • Created City Computer Training Centre(CCTC) for capacity building and a nerve centre for all IT activities • Created a pool of skilled policemen to run the IT infrastructure • Expanded our IT Support Teams • Set out on information gathering drive keeping the daily needs of citizen in view
