ORGANISERS OF this year’s fundraising Rainbow Run called in St Mawgan firefighters to keep the crowds cool as temperatures topped a sweltering 35˚C. The Cornish station has hosted the event for the last 12 years, helping to raise more than £1 million for the Children’s Hospice South West since its launch in 2014. Station Commander Wg Cdr Gareth Elliot fired the starting pistol as more than 1,400 runners took on the 5km route passing through paint stations to add some colour to the event. He said: “The Rainbow Run is a wonderful example of how our station and our community come together with energy, colour and purpose to support such a meaningful cause.”
