Eli and Ila are best friends.

It’s Monday, the first day of the school holidays, and they are going to London with their parents.

They are very excited!

Time to go!

In London they stay in a big hotel. Ila can see the London Shard from the window of her room. It’s really tall!

Eli can see Tower Bridge.

It’s really beautiful!

BIG BEN

HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT

On Tuesday morning Eli and Ila wake up early.

They go on a boat trip up the River Thames.

Wow! Look at the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben! Everything is amazing.

It’s lunch time.

They go to Borough Market.

There are many stalls with fruit, vegetables, cakes...

They eat fish and chips, with lots of salt and vinegar - yummy!

On Wednesday Eli and Ila go on a big red bus.

They run upstairs and sit at the front of the bus. “We’re driving!” they shout.

Soon they see Tower Bridge. The bridge opens and a sailing boat goes past!

“Next stop: Tower of London!” they say.

“Here we are at the Tower of London!” says Eli. “That’s where the Queen keeps all her jewels.” says Ila. WELCOME TO THE TOWER OF LONDON.

A Beefeater guard shows them around and explains all about the Tower. “Look at those black ravens, they live in the Tower of London!�, says the Beefeater.

MIND THE GAP!

On Thursday Eli and Ila go on an underground train.

They go down the escalator to the platforms.

The station is big and very noisy.

Lots of people get on and off the train.

Eli and Ila go to Buckingham Palace, where the Queen lives.

The guards outside Buckingham Palace wear red jackets and tall furry hats called ‘bearskins’.
