Welcome Dear Racketlon Players and Guests

Welcome Racketlon world

Stockholm, Enskede Rackethall and the whole organisation for the World Champion- ship in Racketlon are ready and welcoming you to what we hope will be a fantastic tournament.

We are really looking forward to arranging Racketlon World Cup 2012 in Enskede Racket Hall. It's fantastic that we've managed to get here so many talented players from all over the world .. We are very proud of our hall which we believe is one of the finest and best managed in Sweden. Racketlon WC contributes positively to the development of all racquet sports. We are fully convinced that it will be a fantastic event and wish players, officials and spectators welcome to Enskede Racket Hall.

The first Racketlon tournament in Sweden was organised by Peter Landberg 1989 and the first in Enskede Rackethall was Racketlon Cup 1992. Since then we have organised international and national tournaments almost every year. The last big international was Swedish Open 2007 when the Result Reporter system was introduced with livescoring and internetconnection. The RR system is now used on all FIR tournaments around the world. We are proud off being chosen to run the World Champion ship 2012 and we really hope that all players will enjoy the wonderful game of Racketlon here in Stockholm with us. You are all very welcome to Enskede Rackethall and Stockholm. Lennart Eklundh Tournament Director FIR Vice president and treasurer

TV LIVE BROADCAST

The final day of the FIR Racketlon World Championships will be broadcasted on Swedish television. Viewers can see reports and for the first time in Racketlon history the Men Elite Final (Sat. 1.12. 15:40 CET) covered LIVE on TV4 Sport television channel. This is one of the major sport channels in Sweden and the broadcast will later be found on the channels website. The production will be done by a very experienced team around Fredrik Berling and the production company Motions.

Fredrik Berling is for a majority of Swedes recognized for hosting numerous TV-shows mainly in science and sports. Tournament Director Lennart Eklundh is responsible for the deal and asked the following questions:

Motions is responsible for hours and hours of TV both taped, live-on-tape and live productions in the last few years. The production company is especially skilled when it comes to sport events and has previously covered for instance the X-Games.

Eklundh: Looking forward to this Fredrik? Berling: Absolutely! For the first time in 10 years the Championships return to Sweden. Eklundh: What are you most eager about? Berling: Well, a lot of things but of course to see the best players in the world competing under these excellent conditions. Eklundh: We’ve heard a rumour saying that you will also be the program leader? Berling: Hm haha, who told you that? Well, I guess you just have to come here to see for yourself. Or tune in TV4 Sport on 1st December between 3.30 and 5 pm.

What is exciting about Racketlon and the World Championships? “For us it is always interesting and challenging to do things that haven’t been done before. We are used to working at big events and conferences with live broadcast and live streaming. Here we are covering not only one, but 4 different sports in a very short time,” says Emil Nylander from Motions.

FIR Goals Dear Racketlon Community, Traditionally the last paragraph written for this 52-page Racketlon magazine is my introduction. For the fourth time FIR has published a Racketlon programme, this time in cooperation with the 12th FIR World Championships Singles in Stockholm. Apart from the usual statistics and updated facts about international Racketlon like FIR World Champions, FIR World Championships medals table, FIR World Tour winners, FIR World Tour Race winners and FIR Challenger winners, new statistics about the players who lead the FIR World Rankings for the biggest numbers of months is published for the first time in Racketlon history. A guess on who that are in the top positions in singles is easy, but do you know all the players who have ever been number one in the world? Finally I want to thank the Tournament Directors of all former FIR World Championships for their assistance for a one page picture collection of all World Champs ever played giving a unique impression of a decade of Racketlon since it all started in Göteborg 2001! Letting the last year pass by I am personally very disappointed by some of the new FIR Council members, which I only choose to get elected got elected a year ago. Apart from most of the members being quite silent, two have chosen to not to answer e-mails or phones anymore at all. English Gary Tovey (Social Media) and Italian Gianpaolo Martire (Marketing) and will thus be replaced by Phil Todd (England) and the first woman in the FIR Council ever, current world number one Nathalie Zeoli (Germany) for the rest of the period until end of 2014. Thank you and welcome! Concerning membership: After months of tiring e-mails and contact with all 37 FIR member countries, FIR has finally managed to collect

nearly all necessary papers requested by Sportaccord (see www. sportaccord.com) to finally make Racketlon a worldwide recognised sport. This means we missed the last Sportaccord deadline with 31st of August 2012 and now have the next one with end of February 2013 to finally achieve the missing 3 members to reach the requested minimum of 40. This could be the last possible deadline as current developments e.g. in the sports world of Austria show. In the country where FIR is seated a sports law shall be passed from 2014, stating that any multi-sport (consisting of existing sports) games shall not be recognised, nor have the right for subsidiaries. Thank god this only counts for new federations and not existing ones like FIR, but Austrian government also requests recognition by Sportaccord, which will put Racketlon on the safe side worldwide. In the end this once again means that our situation is alarming and we need to speed up the progress and more or less force some Racketlon players from countries without FIR membership status to found non-profit national Racketlon federations otherwise they cannot continue to play in any draws of the FIR World Tour from 2013. Yes, this time it really is necessary! Marcel Weigl FIR-Executive President

FIR Council Milestones 2009 -2012 • Growth to 37 member states on all continents • Contact with 15 new potential members  • Meeting with Spor taccord for membership appeal • Employement of par t time FIR Executive President • FIR Head Office in Austria open two days a week • Publication of FIR Rules, Statutes, Tournament & Players Regulations • Introduction of Olympic draws • FIR Delegates at all World Tour events • Update of the FIR World Ranking system • Development of a unique Racketlon database www.resultreporter.com • Re-launch website www.racketlon.net
