I have been hired to create various marketing projects for companies, events and organizations. These designs have helped advertise and shape the brand identity of each individual client. These items were all created to be given as gifts and were personalized for specific individuals. It took time learning about them and accurately representing what would make the design specific to them. The designs of these products were all created from fine art work that I had created and then enhanced to be used on various objects. These are all hypothetical projects that were made to make my art to the next level. I worked with Stage Left, a Miami University theatre organization, on their marketing and sets for many of their performances. We had to work together to best represent each individual show to successfully advertise and design it.

T-Shirt While working with Stage Left, a Miami University theatre organization, I created this T-Shirt logo for their production of the show Spring Awakening. The concept was influenced by strong themes of the show, trees, which represents the complexities of life. I created this using a combination of hand drawings and Adobe Photoshop.

Postcard Murray Lampert Design is a firm that does home remodels. I was hired to produce an advertisement to be sent to potential clients. The concept was to show an example of a before and after of one of their projects. Their logo and BBB award were also included to emphasize the brand. I created this using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

I Rachel Cookbook The Bloom Girl Cookbook holds hundreds of family recipes from over 5 generations. I was hired to design this cover that would be on all 45 books. I personalized the design by including the paw prints through the sauce since dogs are such an important part of this family. I created this arranging the text out of food, photographing it and enhancing it on Adobe Photoshop.

Cards This is a personalized version of the card game called “Cards Against Humanity. The game was personalized for the recipient by including subject cards, noun cards, descriptions and images that related to them. I created this by using Adobe Photoshop to make the packaging and Microsoft Word to make the cards.

Interpretation The composition was created by taking as watch from a master’s painting that was unknown to me and completing it. I felt the best way to complete this piece was to turn it into an asymmetrical pattern. I then took the pattern and applied it as a cover to various objects; I felt that it functioned best as a cell phone cover. I created this using acrylic paints and charcoal, then scanning it into Adobe Photoshop to apply it to the objects.

Nudes on Bottles This series of nude drawings and paintings were turned into a hypothetic wine bottle label design that could be used for branding a winery’s identity. Each individual nude could be used to identify the different types of wine the company could produce while keeping the theme cohesive. I created this using acrylic paint, conti crayon, water colors and charcoal and then scanned into Adobe Photoshop to be placed on the bottles.

We renovated an unused historic space and white boxed it to be rented as a shop. We participated in both the design and construction of the site. We also became active members of the community while living and working in the neighborhood. Both of these projects required group collaboration to make a structure using limited resources for a very specific location. We used extensive site analysis and research to make the best designs. During my semester abroad in Newcastle, Australia, I worked on a project located at Newcastle Beach. The program for the space was a gallery that included residences, shops and a children’s park. My design was influenced by the Salk Institute since it is on a very similar site. While shadowing an architect at Murray Lampert Design Build Remodel, I had direct involvement in every facet of the architectural design and construction process. I assisted in measuring homes, meeting with clients, creating drawings, researching code requirements and implementing structural engineering for various projects. I participated in a summer architecture studio in Koln, Germany. The project was to create a Megaform, a massive multipurpose structure that would be used as a residential and retail space. This library was designed to replace an outdated existing structure. This concept maximized natural resources to make a very sustainable building. We did extensive site analysis and research to come up with the most successful design.

We became active members of the community while living and working in the neighborhood. In groups, we made projects to support the Over-the-Rhine People’s Movement. Ours was to take a timeline created by previous students, update it and make it into a format easy to add to. The purpose was to create a live document that would make the people of Over-the-Rhine feel they were a part of something greater than themselves. We presented it at a community event and invited people to write in where they entered the struggle and any additional historical moments.

Wall This wall installation was designed out of plywood to be displayed on a rooftop. The cubes are all 1x1 foot. They were assembled and held together with screws. The arrangement of cubes was designed to twist evenly to stay balanced even though it is asymmetrical. This project was done in collaboration with Stuart Spaulding, David Hettler and Paige Cataldo in my group.

Pavilion The program for this structure is to be used as an artist’s residence in nature. The concept of this design was based off Japanese tea houses because it kept the strong connection to the landscape. This project was in collaboration with Brian Cash and Emily Burrowes. We created this model out of modeling wood, chip board and sand paper. We created the boards by using laser cut chip board, hand drawings, recycled book cover scraps and colored pencils.

I studied abroad for a semester in Newcastle, Australia through Globalinks Abroad. Through the program I was able to travel to Cairns, Melbourne, Sydney, The Gold Coast and all over New Zealand. I learned about the Australian culture and understood their valued architectural styles, like Critical Regionalism. This is a strong connection to landscape, place and identity. During the semester I worked on one project on a single site located at Newcastle Beach. The program for the space was a gallery that included residences, shops and a children’s park. My concept was highly influenced by Louis Kahn’s Salk Institute since it was built on a similar site with similar intentions. The gallery and site were created using various types of chip board and wood. The children’s park was created using chip board, wire mesh, colored Plexiglas pieces and wired to light up with LED lights. The boards were created using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and hand drawings enhanced with water colors.

Murray Lampert Design Build Remodel specializes in design build packages, architectural design, residential second story additions, single story expansions, room additions, kitchen remodels, bath remodels and total home remodeling. While shadowing an architect at this construction firm, I had direct involvement in every facet of the construction process. I assisted in measuring homes, meeting with clients, creating drawings and researching codes and requirements for various projects. I learned how to professionally accommodate clients by presenting design options in a simplified, clear manner while being receptive to any modification requests. Smart flexibility was key in adjusting quickly and addressing situations unique to each client and site. I utilized Chief Architect and Auto CAD to produce plans, construction documents, perspectives and 3D models.

I participated in an 8 week program that was led by my Miami professor, Gerardo Manrique Brown, along with professors from Germany. We studied the works of Oswald Ungers, a German architect and theorist that created many revolutionary buildings that we toured. The project was to create a Megaform, a massive multipurpose structure that would be used as a residential and retail space. My concept was to open the structure to the busiest streets and maximize outdoor space. Our group was immersed in the German culture, this heavily influenced our designs. We worked with other students, from Italy and Germany, which helped us to understand various perspectives. We shared what we had learned by presenting our projects in a cage gallery on Miami’s campus.
