VOL.5 Bump from Hamlin sends Logano ISSUE 5 into spin, leads to post-race dust-up

"Hey everybody, it's Bristol. They're fightin'! How 'bout THAT!" Bowyer shouted over the track's public-address system. "It's what you're supposed to do at Bristol." If fighting is standard behavior at the World's Fastest Half-Mile, then what Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin did in the aftermath of the Food City 500 was downright appropriate. If nothing else, it reinforced the theory that close-quarters, full-contact racing on the .533-mile track is back in earnest. Logano was in line for his best finish of the young NASCAR Sprint Cup season, working his way up from 10th starting spot to challenge for the lead in the second

Both drivers -- teammates with Joe Gibbs Racing as recently as four months ago -- actually managed to rebound into the top 10 before both their days soured. Logano nudged Hamlin from behind when leader Brad Keselowski bogged down on the race's ficonr. on page 2

nal restart and the two combatants limped home from there. Neither driver cooled down on the so-called cool-down lap. After parking and dismounting, Logano leaned his head into the cockpit of Hamlin's Toyota. Words were exchanged before a Hamlin crewman pulled Logano away. That escalated into a full-fledged scuffle as the fans -- and simultaneously Bowyer -- roared with approval. "I think part of it's Bristol racing, but part of it's ridiculous," Logano said. "Whatever. I had a fast race car and I've just had it. ‌ "I feel like I race him clean all the time, and he's going to do that. I understand the way

after the race: "Hey @dennyhamlin great job protecting that genius brain of yours by keeping your helmet on." To which Hamlin responded: "Why's that.. What would u do?" The makings of a feud may be top of mind when the circuit hits Auto Club Speedway next weekend, though the speed of the 2-mile track does not lend itself to settling scores. Darian Grubb, Hamlin's crew chief, did his best to diffuse the situation, saying the No. 11 JGR team's focus would not change. "We've just got to take control of our own destiny," Grubb said flatly. "(Our) team has to do what it has to do to win a championship and not worry about anybody else."

"He said he was coming for me," Hamlin said. "I usually don't see him, so it's usually not a factor." The chippy relationship between the two former Gibbs teammates worsened after the season-opening Daytona 500 when the two engaged in a tense Twitter exchange, highlighted by Hamlin sarcastically calling Logano a "genius" for his drafting tactics. Post-race Sunday, Logano certainly had the social-media insult fresh in his head. "If we didn't (have a problem), we do now," Logano said. "Send that message. Tweet that!" And so he did, issuing this Twitter salvo

Pole-starter Kyle Busch, a current teammate to Hamlin and former teammate to Logano, has been a lightning-rod figure when it comes to on-track dust-ups in the past. On Sunday, he was Switzerland, playing the neutrality card when asked what he saw transpire. "I love Joey. I think he's a good little racer; he works really hard, too," Busch said. Pacific Steel & Recycling Helps Ramp Up Williston Recycling Efforts by Barb Peterson A Great Falls, MT-based company is helping Williston ramp up its recycling efforts. Pacific Steel & Recycling bought Pete's Tractor Salvage nearly 2 years ago. After extensive renovations, Pacific opened full-time in May 2012. Pacific accepts steel, autos, tin, appliances, copper, aluminum, brass, batteries, UBC and electronics. It does not accept paper, cardboard or hides. "We are trying to make it as easy as possible for people to recycle," says Tom Miller, branch manager. The company is a welcome addition to Williston - which hasn't had a comprehensive recycling program in the past. “A lot of the stuff that goes to the landfill should come here. The landfill has quite a big pile of appliances and they charge people to dump it there and I pay people to bring it here," says Miller.

Pacific, which has a staff of 14 employees, provides both consumer and commercial recycling. The Williston site features drive-through recycling for everyday users. “You pull into a building, we help you unload your vehicle, we weigh it, and then you come to the office and we pay you,” says Miller. Ekblad’s, Inc. has been using Pacific’s commercial services. Pacific has a roll-off at Ekblad’s so it can conveniently recycle old appliances and electronics. "They've been great to work with," says owner Jon Ekblad. "We have a recycling bin behind the store and Pacific comes and picks it up in a timely manner.” The program also saves Ekblad's active business time and money. "In the past I had to haul the appliances out to the landfill and they would charge me to dump it there. They have definitely made it quite a bit easier and I also feel better about not filling up the landfill," he says. Williston’s director of Public Works/Engineering says Pacific’s recycling business helps protect the environment. “Any recycle operations that reduces the amount of disposal work at the landfill is beneficial to us. It reduces our collection efforts as well,” says Monte Meiers. In addition to recycling – Pacific also sells brand new steel products at a separate location adjacent to the Case-IH Dealer on West Front Street. In an effort to educate the Williston community about Pacific’s recycling program – it will offer special pricing during Earth Week April 22-27: 50 cents per pound for aluminum cans; $200 for automobiles brought to the yard; $150 for automobiles that require pickup within 25 miles of Williston; $6 for car batteries; $100 a ton for tin and old appliances. "This community isn't well educated on recycling because they haven't had the ability to recycle," Miller says. On Saturday, April 27th, Pacific Recycling will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. During the day Pacific will serve hotdogs and hamburgers. Pacific Steel & Recycling is located at 13818 West Front Street. Its regular business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Set yourself up for the perfect season of outdoor entertaining (BPT) - As temperatures warm, many of us can't wait to get outside and rediscover the joys of our outdoor spaces. One of the best ways to ensure the enjoyment of your space all season long is with some spring cleaning and upkeep of your yard and outdoor living spaces. There are a few spring cleaning projects that benefit every homeowner and make spaces much more inviting for the hours you'll spend enjoying the summer sun. The home improvement experts at Lowe's offer the following checklist of improvements that will have your outdoor space looking great in no time: * Take the time to prune. Before the season heats up and the first leaves start to appear, it's the perfect time to shape up your trees and shrubs. Doing so before the growing season is less stressful for your plants, easier to clean up and will promote the type of growth you envision to keep your greenery looking great all season. Make sure your tools are sharp, as cleaner cuts are easier on plants. The new Fiskars DuraSharp pruners and loppers feature fully hardened steel blades making cutting and pruning that much easier. You can find these at Lowe's. * Clean up leftover leaves. While you probably spent much of the fall raking and mulching fallen leaves, stragglers collect throughout winter, clogging gutters and drains. In addition to cleaning areas of your yard blanketed with leaves, rake your lawn to rid it of matted leaves that can inhibit healthy growth. Break these chores into separate days so you don't have to do it all at once. Using a blower also helps you clean up your yard in short order.

* Bring out the power washer. Winter tends to leave its mark, and the exterior of your house, deck, sidewalks and driveway can all show grime once spring rolls around. A pressure washer is a convenient way to clean these surfaces. The Generac OneWash gas pressure washer makes this easy for homeowners as it can be conveniently wheeled around the outside of your home to meet all your pressure-washing needs. * Check in on your deck. Once it's been pressure washed, it's time to see if you need to re-seal it. If you drizzle water on your deck boards and it beads up, your seal is still effective. If not, it's time to apply another coat of sealant. Pleasant spring days are ideal for re-sealing and staining and once you're done, you can enjoy the whole season without worry. * Design your dream outdoor room. Once you've cleaned up your space, you might realize there's more that could be done to enhance it. Spring is the perfect time to consider a new patio set, or even a patio extension using decorative pavers. Dress up existing patio furniture by staining wood furniture or buying fresh new covers or cushions. This is also the perfect time to buy that new and improved grill you've had your eye on. Spring is an exciting time to get back outside and take care of some of the improvements you've been dreaming of all winter. Visit www.lowescreativeideas.com for more inspiration on how to make your outdoor space great this year.

Top 2 at Bristol 1. Brad Keselowski (No. 2) Penske Racing, Ford Where he stands: Keselowski leads the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings with 166 points. Last week: In the Food City 500, the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion continued his strong start, placing third after dueling with eventual winner Kasey Kahne and second-place finisher Kyle Busch over the final 40 laps. Keselowski lost ground on the final restart with four laps remaining when Denny Hamlin -- thanks to an aggressive bump from Joey Logano, Keselowski’s teammate -- bumped into the No. 2 Ford. Keselowski, who led 62 laps Sunday, has finished in the top five in all four races, including back-to-back third-place showings. This week: In four career starts at Auto Club Speedway, Keselowski’s best finish is 18th in 2012. For point-paying races in the past eight years at Auto Club, Keselowski ranks 24th out of 47 drivers with an average place of 21.3. Last year: The good news: Keselowski had his best showing at Fontana in 2012 after three previous attempts didn’t yield a top 20. The bad news: It wasn’t a particularly outstanding finish, with the eventual 2012 champion taking 18th place. Still, Keselowski’s team felt like it made gains at the 2-mile track. The No. 2 ran near the top 10 and corrected a handling problem during a green-flag pit stop. It was moving up in the field when the rain came. What he said: “The 2 team did a great job adjusting on the car during the race. We weren’t close at the start, but at the end the car was pretty good, not quite as good as Kasey’s, but still a great effort.”

2. Dale Earnhardt Jr. (No. 88) Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet Where he stands: Earnhardt Jr. is second in the standings with 157 points. Last week: In the Food City 500, Earnhardt finished with his fourth consecutive top 10 to open the season, and he had to work his way through the field to do it. The No. 88 started 32nd, and it appeared his run of top-10 finishes would end at Thunder Valley. Earnhardt, though, stayed steady -and stayed out of trouble -- to finish sixth. This week: In 20 career starts at Auto Club Speedway, Earnhardt has four top fives and five top 10s. For point-paying races in the past eight years at Auto Club, Earnhardt ranks 20th out of 47 drivers with an average place of 20.2. Last year: Earnhardt broke through at Fontana, finishing in the top 10 for the first time since 2007. Junior was fifth when the day’s lone caution flag came out, but he moved up to third place when two cars in front of him pitted -- the forecast called for rain throughout the day, so most cars stayed out. Third place is where he finished, too. What he said: “I have to give all the credit to (crew chief) Steve Letarte. He made a couple, two, three great pit calls there at the end, and gave us the opportunity to get some guys on some old tires, and beat a few guys that we probably weren't going to beat. Great call by him.”

Old worries fears or insecurities about an intimate relationship, or even over joint finances, will give you sleepless nights if you let them. Take a deep breathe and look to the future. If you don’t believe in yourself no one else will. Give yourself a shake Aries. Be a good friend by letting friends cry on your shoulder and have a gripe and a moan about what’s wrong with their lives. You’re very supportive and understanding. Venus in your twelfth house at the latter end of the week sees you retreating from the hustle and bustle. You seem much happier on the job front albeit interactions with co-workers and bosses are more cool than chummy. The sun in Aries mid week opens up your social life so get ready to be in demand. Avoid clingy friends at the weekend. They’ll drain your energy and patience. Absence makes the heart grow fonder they say, but it may also make you pine for someone who is out of reach. Work on stability in relationships and friendships and expand your range of hobbies to ensure you don’t have too much free time to ponder on things over long spells.

If you encounter radical rebellious responses to your requests in the home zone, it may be time to ask yourself if you’re asking too much of others. When the sun your ruler enters Aries mid week a positive sense of optimism and passion returns to the equation. Relationships seem uncertain and people seem unreasonable and changeable, so no wonder you feel at sixes and sevens as you feel you’re getting mixed messages. Decide where you stand then distance yourself from others until this confusion blows over.

You don’t feel appreciated at work and you feel restricted by authority figures, especially if things aren’t going well in the financial zone. No wonder your self worth is suffering. Get thigns back on track by bolstering your self belief.

Feelings of insecurity are on the rise this week so try not to take things too personally. Avoid gossip and here say and don’t be tempted to speculate on anything or anyone. Make an effort so socialise, network and connect to those who can help you up the ladder. If you feel isolated or separated from loved ones don’t be tempted to hold back on affection thinking it’ll safeguard you from being hurt. It wont. Venus and Mars collide mid week and bring fireworks, so to make sure they’re the amorous kind fan your desire Interactions with family and friends need careful handling so be sensitive to the feelings of others and try to avoid being brash or abrasive, as it your want when you feel under pressure. Marital affairs need your full attention at the weekend. Give it your best shot. You’ve been building strong business alliances since the month began but you now seem to be questioning at least one of them. Why? Who has ruffled your feathers? When the sun enters Aries mid week you’ll feel more confident about everything so stop worrying. You’re not only judging yourself harshly this week, but everyone around you too. It wont be long before you’re out of this dark place so avoid making any major decisions for the time being. The weekend brings respite in the shape of old friends who bring fun and relaxation.
