11/27/2010 – Sophomore forward Brittany Lyons’ (Canton, Mass.) second period goal propelled the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team to a 2–1 victory over Yale and its second–ever Nutmeg Classic Tournament Championship.
2/21/11 – Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey freshman forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) was named one of the 26 nominees for the 2011 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, presented by Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. The award is presented annually to the most outstanding player in NCAA Division I Women’s Ice Hockey.
12/1/2010 – Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey freshman forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) and men’s basketball junior guard James Johnson were named Quinnipiac’s Athletes of the Month for November. 12/3/2010 – Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey freshman forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) broke the Quinnipiac single–season goals scored record with her 16th goal of the year, surpassing Hayley McMeekin, who scored 15 goals during the 2006–07 season, as the Bobcats skated to an emphatic 4–0 victory over Brown. 12/7/2010 – Quinnipiac freshman Kelly Babstock was highlighted several times by her hometown newspaper’s website, www.Mississauga.com. The first–year skater currently led all NCAA Division I women’s ice hockey players with 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points in her first 20 collegiate games. Babstock rewrote the Quinnipiac record books, and collected honors on a weekly basis. 12/14/2010 – Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey assistant coach Cassandra Turner was selected to serve as assistant coach for Canada at the 2011 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Women’s Under–18 Championship. 12/21/10 – Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey freshman forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) had a feature article written about her in her hometown newspaper’s website, Mississauga.com, for the fourth time this season. The article, written by Iain Colpitts, highlighted Babstock’s tremendous success during her rookie campaign at Quinnipiac. 12/22/10 – The Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey program was highlighted on the New England Hockey Journal’s website, www.hockeyjournal.com, in its midseason report of ECAC Women’s Hockey clubs. The article, written by Mike Zhe, listed Quinnipiac as a team that posed a serious threat to Cornell, as the Big Red sought its second–consecutive league championship. 1/5/11 – Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey freshman Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ont.) and men’s basketball senior Justin Rutty (Newburgh, N.Y.) were named the Quinnipiac Athletes of the Month for December, as announced by Quinnipiac Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald. 1/8/11 – Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey freshman forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) scored three goals, including the game–winning tally at the 3:25 mark into the first overtime period, to lift the Bobcats to a come–from–behind victory over ECAC Hockey opponent Clarkson. 1/13/11 – Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey freshman forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) was featured in the January 17, 2011 edition of Sports Illustrated. The first–year phenom was named as one of the six “Faces In The Crowd” as selected each week by Sports Illustrated. 1/17/11 – For the second time in program history, the women’s ice hockey team ranked in the top–10 nationally for the week of January 17 on the USCHO.com Division 1 Women’s Ice Hockey Poll. 1/24/11 – The Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team were ranked 10th in the USCHO.com Division I Women’s Ice Hockey Poll for the second–consecutive week.
2/25/11 – Sophomore forward Brittany Lyons’ (Canton, Mass.) dramatic game–winning goal with five seconds remaining in regulation gave Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey the victory, 2–1 against Princeton in the first game of a best–of–three ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal matchup. 2/26/11 – Freshman forward Kelly Babstock’s (Mississauga, Ontario) second–period goal proved to be the game–winner for the No. 5–seeded Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team, whose 2–0 victory over No.4– seeded Princeton helped the team advance to its first–ever ECAC Hockey Semifinal Game. The Bobcats swept the best–of–three series, two games to none, after they defeated the Tigers the previous night, 2–1. 2/28/11 – Freshman forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) of the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team was named the 2010–11 ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year. Babstock, who was also nominated for the 2010–11 ECAC Hockey Player of the Year, is the second Quinnipiac student–athlete to earn ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year. 3/1/11 – Freshman forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) and sophomore goaltender Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario) of the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team were awarded with ECAC Hockey All–League selections. Babstock, who also enjoyed an All–Rookie Team selection, was tabbed as First–Team All–League, while Vigilanti received the nod for Third–Team All–League. 3/2/11 – Freshman forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) of the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team was named the 2010–11 ECAC Hockey Player of the Year. Babstock is the first player in Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey program history to receive the award. The acceptance of the league’s most prized individual award came on the heels of being named Rookie of the Year, as well as being named to All–League First–Team and the All–Rookie Team. 3/31/11 – Freshman forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) was named to the 2010–11 New England Division I Women’s Hockey All–Star Team. The recipients consisted of six forwards, four defensemen and two goaltenders, which were chosen by administrators and members of the media. 11/4/11 - Sophomore Kelly Babstock’s four-point game against Colgate broke the program’s career points record, of 73 previously held by Vickey Graham. 11/22/11 - Kelly Babstock scored with 10 second remaining in regulation before Amanda Colin’s goal 35 seconds into overtime gave Quinnipiac a 2-1 upset of No. 4 Boston College. 11/26/11 - Against Robert Morris in the Nutmeg Classic Championship Game, Babstock recorded her 40th career assist to pass Caitlin Peters as the all-time assists leader in Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey history. 2/17/2012 - Babstock scored twice against Union to break Elyse Cole’s program record of 43 career goals.
