ISO 9001 Certification: A Mandate.


The ISO 9001 standard belongs to the ISO 9000 family. Certification to this standard means that a company has a compliant management system that is focused on meeting their customer’s requirements. Certification shows that the company is consistent in providing quality products without making any compromises. ISO 9001 certification is the most popular management system worldwide. This standard sets out the requirements for a quality management system that any organization can meet regardless of its size or field. Operation This section deals with planning for products or services to ensure customer needs are understood and met. This section also includes design and development, purchasing, conformance checking and managing nonconformances.


Performance evaluation this section includes establishing criteria that an organization monitors and measures including customer satisfaction. It also includes an evaluation of conformance to the quality management system through an internal audit, and a review of the effectiveness of the management system through a management review. Improvement In this section, an organization plans how it will continually improve including learning from its nonconformances and preventing reoccurrence.


ISO 9001, including its predecessors, have been around since 1959.
