Week 5 Constructing Journal Jack (Qiaochu) Zhang
The ERC is located close to Sydney Myer building and the Melbourne University Tram stop. This building is chosen as the detailed study building out of a pool of four possible selections.
The studio activity for the week was to answer questions regarding the detailed study building. In addition, skills especially those of reading architectural blueprints were practised and learnt.
Symbols like these were also taught. This is a reference symbol. Other symbols denoting material was also present in drawings.
Maps like those shown above were used to answer questions regarding the different structural members and materials that would be used in construction. Different methods of finding the reference material were also learnt. And in general an experience into what is expected from architectural drawings was the aim of the tutorial.
