AC ADEMIC LIFE
Learning is the core of school life. Tailored to the needs of the boys and their aspirations, our innovative curriculum ensures every pupil is inspired and motivated. From General Studies through to a diverse enrichment programme, boys are challenged to develop their learning skills throughout their time at Cothill.
Cothill’s happy, caring boarding community encourages independence. Year 7 boys spend a term at Cothill’s French site, the Château de Sauveterre, immersed in the local culture and language, typically returning as fluent French speakers. As the oldest boys, Year 8s are housed at nearby Chandlings, giving them space and a measure of independence, whilst encouraging just the right amount of self-reliance to ready them for their future schools.
“Fun-filled weekends jam packed with activities for all... boys can build dens or bird boxes, go pond dipping or interpret Notre Dame Cathedral in clay to their hearts’ content” Good Schools Guide
A wide range of opportunities inspire all the boys.
“Spectacular drama, with frequent plays and shows, including original works written by Cothill teachers. Around 80 per cent of the boys play a musical instrument and there are bands and choirs galore for boys to showcase their talents. Good Schools Guide

“Pupils achieve highly in sporting events, as exemplified by the considerable success of the school’s rugby, football and cricket teams and the standards reached in a wide range of other individual and team sports.” Independent Schools Inspectorate
“Our ethos focuses on enabling all boys to reach their full sporting potential. In an environment of healthy competition, technical and physical skills are continually developed, whilst teamwork, resilience, leadership and decision-making are fostered and encouraged.
