Before creating this report, let us understand the fundamentals of it, i.e. what is the report comprised of? What does the payroll report tells you?


Basically, when analyzing the report, you'll find that the Gross Pay comprises of the commission and additions like the bonuses and tips. Coming to the Adjusted Gross Pay, it is nothing but any sort of pre-tax deductions, most commonly the employee contribution to a 401(k) plan from the Gross pay. The Net Pay you see in the report is the money which is credited to the employee's account after deduction of taxes, and also, after several adjustments for after-tax deductions like a loan payment or reimbursed travel cost. Moving on to the Employer Taxes and Contributions section of the report, it reveals the Money accrued throughout the time period covered by the report. However, it doesn't matter whether your company paid the amount or not.

Now let's move on to the creation of payroll summary report. Start by Browsing to the Reports, selecting Employees & Payroll and then Payroll Summary  Now specify the required date range. For doing so, go to the dates drop down and mention the requires dates in the from and to sections  Click on Refresh or anywhere on the report.  If you don't require the Hours and/or Rate columns, go to the Display tab and clear the Hours and then click OK.  You may also introduce the pay periods under the Filters tab.  For printing the Payroll Summary, go to Print and then select Report.
