THE LARDEAU VALLEY COMMUNITY CLUB has immediate openings for the following positions for the 2010-2011 term: Hall manager-this position is 20hrs/week and includes general cleaning as well as booking rentals, doing receipts and writing grants and coordinating the bowling schedule. They will collaborate with the program director to organize events and fundraising activities. The applicant will report to the LVCC Board of Directors. Program Director-this position will be at least 12hrs/week depending on the number of running programs. The applicant will be responsible to initiate and coordinate new programs, seek funding through grants or other avenues and coordinate volunteer help to assist with programming. News From Periwinkle Children’s Centre A good time was had by all at Periwinkle Children’s Centre’s first “Family Fun Day” on Sunday, September 5. About thirty-five children and their families took part in games, music and art activities organized by a dedicated group of volunteers. Over $200 was raised for the Centre through the sale of Betty’s yummy treats. The organizers hope to make this an annual event for the children of Kaslo. Thanks again to Fortis and Kaslo Early Childhood Coalition for their financial support of this event. Periwinkle’s new fall programme started mid-September, with the centre open two days a week. On Wednesdays, children will be involved in a Waldorf-inspired programme, from 8 am to 2 pm, with the option of staying until 4 pm. Thursday’s programme will run 8 am to 4 pm, with half-day options available. Both programmes are open for children aged 30 months to 5 years. The Board of Directors’ Annual General Meeting, originally scheduled for Tuesday, September 7, has been postponed until tonight - Tuesday, September 28. It will take place at 7 pm, at Periwinkle Children’s Centre. New board members are welcome. An opportunity for registration will take place from 6 pm to 7 pm.
