"Leading Ladies" Take The Stage

Performing Arts

• The Palos Verdes High School Drama Department will present the comedy “Leading Ladies” for six performances Nov. 15-24. Written by Ken Ludwig, author of Lend Me A Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo, “Leading Ladies” follows two downon-their-luck English Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo. When they hear that an old lady in York is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long-lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, when they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren’t nephews, but nieces! Romantic entanglements abound, especially when Leo falls head-overpetticoat in love with the old lady’s vivacious niece, Meg, who’s engaged to the local minister. Meg knows that there’s a wide world out there, but it’s not until

she meets “Maxine and Stephanie” that she finally gets a taste of it. Directed by Palos Verdes High School drama teacher Nicole Thompson, the cast includes eight talented actors: Vasi Best, Jonathan Doughty, Shelby Fredricks, Cole Graham, Ryan McGowan, Amanda Nahin, Will Nodvik and Chris Snur. Performances of “Leading Ladies” are Nov. 15-16 and 21-23 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 17 & 24 at 2 p.m. in the MPR at Palos Verdes High School. This production is recommended for ages 13 and over. Tickets are $20 for premium seats (includes a light snack & refreshment), $15 for adults, and $12 for students. Tickets may be purchased at www.pvhsdrama. com or at the door if seats are still available. For further information, visit the website, or call (310) 378-8471, ext. 237. — email reports
