Trustee humiliates student after parents protest fee hike An FIR has been registered against the trustee of the school Swathi Akella and Pooja Naik email@example.com
Atussle over fee hike between the parents and management of Motilal Nagar English School in Goregaon took an unfortunate turn when a ninth standard student was reportedly singled out by a member of the trust and humiliated in a packed classroom. The boy,Ganesh Rakse, reacted to being treated thus by getting violent and allegedly trying to harm himself.Police have registered an FIR against the trustee Gunita Malhotra. The incident took place on Thursday when Ganesh was in his class. One of his classmates told this newspaper,"After recess Gunita Ma'am came to our class and pulled him out.She and made him stand up and said really bad things about his parents.Ganesh just wouldn't lift his head. After the incident he was terribly upset and did not utter a single word."This was corroborated by several others in Ganesh's class. The 15-year-old went home devastated."Usually when my son comes home,he immediately asks for food. But today he refused to eat. When we kept coaxing him,he told us about the incident. He is completely shaken and very depressed,"said Leela Rakse,Ganesh's mother, adding that her son was singled out for such public humiliation because she is part of the group that has been protesting the fee hike in the school. Her feelings were echoed by other parents who alleged that they were being forced to shell out a hefty sum for buying branded shoes and school trips as well. Later in the evening the Rakses approached Goregaon police station and filed an FIR against Malhotra.Inspector Deepak Gujjar confirmed that a case of harassment has been filed against the trustee of the school. When Mumbai Mirror contacted Malhotra, she rubbished the allegations, saying,"The fee was hiked with the consent of the Parents Teachers association as the school plans to implement the CBSE and AMI curriculum in the school. The shoes and industrial visit fees were optional but unfortunately it was not communicated to the parents properly and hence the misunderstanding."
