The city of Milton Keynes I t has been an exciting and eventful month here in Milton Keynes, as we have officially been granted city status. Her Majesty the Queen named Milton Keynes a city as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. This civic honour will put Milton Keynes on the map as a forward-thinking, innovative, and unique place to do business. It will boost our local economy and our local communities.

Although young in age, Milton Keynes is rich in history and boasts over 1,000 listed buildings and significant places such as Bletchley Park. We have called Milton Keynes a city for many years, but it’s nice to know that it is now official. Thank you to everybody who supported the bid – we can’t wait to have an official ceremony to mark city status later this year!

Each year we will implement policies and tasks that will help us reach these aims. The Progressive Alliance will work for the benefit of residents, while ensuring the Council continues to deliver high-quality core services and provides support for those who need it. Our new Council Plan is an exciting look forward at what the city of Milton Keynes can achieve in the next four years.

Our Four-Year Plan Last month, councillors agreed the Council Plan which outlines the authority’s corporate priorities for the next four years. The Progressive Alliance wants to transform the new city into a place that is thriving, progressive and sustainable. We will also be working towards key outcomes that we hope to achieve by 2026, such as:
