Su espectacular calita de rocas es otro de sus grandes atractivos. Valldemossa, a escasos kilómetros, es tal vez el pueblo más visitado de todos. Lugar de inspiración para artistas de todo tipo durante siglos, sus estrechas y frescas calles estimulan el paseo del viajero, que en cada rincón halla una sorpresa. Famosas son su Cartuja (en la que residió el pianista Frederic Chopin durante unos meses), y las tradicionales cocas de patata. Esporles, con su amplio Paseo lleno de terrazas de cafés y restaurantes, guarda una bellísima armonía, además del agradable aroma a humo de las chimeneas. Sóller y su influencia francesa de siglos, atribuyen a esta localidad un aire distinguido en sus construcciones, y sobre todo en su plaza central. Alaró es famoso por su Castillo, en el que los musulmanes se refugiaron tras la conquista cristiana del año 1229; y también por su mercado de los sábados, repleto de productos autóctonos. Pueblecitos como Banyalbufar o Estellencs, de apenas unos centenares de habitantes, ofrecen unas inolvidables vistas al mar. El coqueto Fornalutx, situado en las profundidades de un valle, o Escorca y sus dos grandes embalses, Cúber y Es Gorg Blau, a las faldas del Puig Major, la montaña más alta de Mallorca (1.445 metros), son localidades que bien merecen una visita sin prisa, en la que saborear toda su esencia ancestral.
Its spectacular rocky cove is yet another big local attraction. Just a few kilometres away, Valldemossa is perhaps the most visited village of them all. A place of inspiration for all kinds of artists for centuries, its cool, narrow streets beckon travellers to wander – and come across a surprise in every nook and cranny. Its Carthusian monastery, where pianist Frédéric Chopin resided for a few months, and traditional ‘coca de patata’ buns are famous. Esporles, with its broad boulevard filled with the terraces of cafés and restaurants, retains a beautiful harmony amidst the pleasant aroma of chimney smoke. Meanwhile Sóller’s centuries-long French influence lends a distinguished air to this town’s constructions, especially in the central square. Alaró is famous for its castle, where the Muslims sought refuge after the Christian conquest of 1229, and also for its busy Saturday market, chock-a-block with local products. Tiny villages like Banyalbufar or Estellencs, which have a population of just a few hundred, afford unforgettable views of the sea. Pretty little Fornalutx, situated in the depths of a valley, or Escorca and its two big reservoirs, Cúber and Es Gorg Blau, on the side of Puig Major, Mallorca’s highest mountain (1,445 metres), are two places that definitely deserve an unhurried visit, so you can fully savour their ancestral essence. Nur ein paar Kilometer entfernt liegt Valldemossa, das wahrscheinlich meist besuchte Dorf des Gebirges, das vielen Künstlern seit Jahrhunderten als Inspirationsquelle dient. Die engen, kühlen Gässchen überraschen den Besucher an jeder Ecke mit anderen Kuriositäten. Das Dorf ist berühmt für die Kartause, in der einst der Komponist Frédéric Chopin für ein paar Monate wohnte, sowie für seine Kartoffelküchlein. In Esporles kann man auf der breiten Promenade zwischen Cafés und Restaurants flanieren und den rauchigen Duft der Kaminfeuer genießen. An den Häusern von Sóller, vor allem auf dem Marktplatz, lässt sich noch heute der einstige französische Einfluss ablesen, der das Dorf von anderen unterscheidet. Die Burg von Alaró hat das gleichnamige Dorf bekannt gemacht, hierhin flüchteten die Mauren nach der Wiedereroberung durch die Christen im Jahr 1229. Der Wochenmarkt am Samstag mit einheimischen Waren ist ebenfalls beliebt. Von den Dörfchen Banyalbufar und Estellencs, wo nur wenige hundert Einwohner leben, bieten sich atemberaubende Ausblicke aufs Meer. Das ursprüngliche Mallorca kann man auch im hübschen, in einem Tal liegenden Fornalutx oder in Escorça erleben, das an den beiden großen Stauseen Cúber und Es Gorg Blau am Fuße des höchsten Berges Mallorcas, dem Puig Major (1.445 Meter), liegt.
