6 | WELCOME

Welcome TO facilities show I’m delighted to introduce you to the 19th year of the world’s largest FM event. This year, we’re championing the industry – and it starts with you. In the last 12 months, we’ve kept an ear to the ground to devise a show around your requirements as an FM in light of industry developments. We’re thrilled to announce a show which dives into the topics at the forefront of every FM’s world in 2018 and beyond. This year, we’re turning our attention to health and wellbeing, because it’s important that you, as an FM, know the ins and outs, the challenges and the opportunities that lie within what is becoming an area of growing importance. We’ve launched a brand new Occupational Health & Wellbeing Zone for you, featuring seminars, talks from those leading the way, a chill out zone and even yoga classes. Alongside this, our focus is geared towards technology, the workplace and people, with each category filling its own day at the show. Following on from last year, the 2018 Inspirational Speaker Series features yet another an incredible line-up: Ruby Wax OBE, Nicky Moffat CBE and Sir Clive Woodward OBE. As I’m sure you know, procurement and contract management are both hugely important to your success as an FM. That’s why we’re proud to welcome the BFIM Smart Client Programme this year, featuring seminar sessions covering when contracts go wrong, using strategic sourcing to improve quality and reduce risk and how to select a contract. Also new to 2018 is the FM Sports Bar, which will, of course, be showing the World Cup! Plus, you’ll have a virtual reality tour of UBM HQ – where you can go behind the scenes in what has been dubbed as London’s Smartest Building. And due to popular demand, we’re bringing back the FM Games Arcade. As always, you’ll have access to the Meetings Service, allowing you to organise time in advance of the show to ensure you speak face-to-face with new and existing suppliers. We can’t wait for you to collect the ideas and solutions you need to drive excellence, change perceptions and streamline the future of the people and places you’re responsible for. As always, join the conversation on social media by tweeting us @Facilities_Show.

WELCOME | 7

BIFM Welcome A warm welcome to the Facilities Show 2018 in association with BIFM, the professional body for facilities management. We’re delighted once again to be working with the Facilities Show to offer an exceptional range of opportunities for you at this year’s event. It is a fascinating time to be in facilities management. The shape of our whole economy is shifting as we negotiate to leave the EU; established models of service delivery are being upset after corporate collapse; and smart technology is pushing us further to adapt and innovate. Events in the wider world present a serious opportunity for events like the Facilities Show to focus on the things that FMs want and need today. For 2018 we’ve really homed in on the things we know that FMs are looking for and we’ve curated a programme to help FMs hone their skills and progress their careers in step with developments. With professional development always near the top of our agenda we’re offering some excellent training and development experiences this year whether or not you’re a BIFM member. Here’s a taster of what’s on offer. BIFM’s Advice Clinic offers one to one sessions with industry experts including trainers, assessors, award winners and judges on a range of topics from CV and interview skills to assessing your career goals and getting the inside track on what future employers want. Successful completion of our half day edition of the keystone training course The Effective FM Professional will gain you a discounted place and a credit towards the full version. If that doesn’t satisfy your appetite for learning – or if you want to inspire a colleague’s development - our BIFM Academy Showcase has taster sessions for the BIFM Academy’s most popular courses, including Introduction to FM and Building Management, great for anybody entering the profession. We’ve seen and heard much this year on the damaging effects of contracts that go wrong. Our Smart Client Programme offers a specially developed half day on ‘How to become a smarter client’, offering real case studies of contracts that went wrong and how to avoid repeats. The session will examine options on contract types and offer real insights on the best way to manage contracts and select the best suppliers. Attendees receive a free copy of BIFM’s Good Practice Guide on Procurement and get to practice their new skills with a selection of suppliers. Take time to review all the educational sessions taking place over the duration of the show and choose those which will help you professionally. You will find full details in this guide. Members, don’t underestimate how effective you can be at introducing others to the benefits of BIFM. Bring along a colleague and if they sign up we’ll reward them with a discount on affiliate membership rates and you’ll get something too! Do have a successful and fun Facilities Show and we look forward to meeting you at the show.

Linda Hausmanis Chief Executive British Institute of Facilities Management @BIFM_UK

EXHIBITOR FEATUREs Evaccess Evaccess will be offering 10% off powered stair climbers (for people) if ordered within 2 months of the show. We will be showing a variety of access and evacuation solutions and therefore, we are able to offer dignity and safety to occupants and operators. Straight, spiral and flared stairs. One design does not suit all people. We have the TRE-70 which takes a person and their wheelchair up to 230kg. There is nothing to match this and many public buildings, hotels and venues do not know who will enter their building. The TRE-70 shows that a business cares about the safety and dignity of people visiting or working with them. Our range offers a choice of two different manual downward only evacuation chairs, using different technology.

We then move to powered models that go both up and down stairs, taking the strain from operators as the machine does the work and is safer to operate. Models for those who can transfer and those who can remain in their wheelchair. Why would you take a wheelchair off someone! Stair climbers for goods. A range to reduce injuries to people moving goods, up to 600kg load. We will be showing the Cargo Master. Visit us on Stand R455.

WELCOME

Welcome TO SAFETY & HEALTH EXPO I’m delighted to welcome you to Safety & Health Expo 2018. Since the success of last year, we’ve been in open conversation with the profession to ensure we devise an event full of fresh, inspirational ideas along with the innovative solutions you need to move your health and safety practices forward. As I’m sure you know, the safety & health profession is experiencing a shift. It has shouted about safety and whispered about health for too long, but things are finally changing. There is a definitive need for a more holistic approach to all-inclusive wellbeing. The past year has seen a huge surge in press coverage around mental health, from art installations like Project84 to celebrities opening up about their struggles. Our practices should be building environments that thrive – not just survive. With a series of new features and initiatives, we’re thrilled to announce that Safety & Health Expo is driving this shift within the profession, acting as the catalyst for this inclusive approach. We’re really proud to be doing so, and we hope to bring you on this journey with us to take a look at the profession through a far more holistic lens. Thanks to Safety & Health Expo 2018’s partnerships with RoSPA, HSE, IOSH and NEBOSH, it is a comfort and a privilege to be able to bring together other major stakeholders who are driving these changes too. We’re also thrilled to present you with this year’s Inspirational Speaker Series, which features mental health expert Ruby Wax OBE, English rugby legend Sir Clive Woodward OBE and Brigadier Nicky Moffat CBE. The Professional Clothing Show will once again form a key part of the event, actively showcasing new and innovative workwear inclusive of footwear, gloves, badges and ties alongside PPE solutions. Plus, you’ll have access to the entire P&M Series, allowing you to enhance your specialisms across fire, safety, facilities management and field service management. We’re also excited to welcome our new charity partner, London Air Ambulance. Initially a UBM initiative, it was funded by UBM during its start-up phase and its first three years; to come full circle in such a way is a testament to the Safety & Health Expo’s growth and imprint on the profession. As always, we’d love to hear from you, any comments or feedback – both good and bad – are welcomed. Join our excitement for this year’s show. Tweet us at @SHExpo.

WELCOME

Welcome TO IFSEC INTERNATIONAL In this important year of transformation, I’m thrilled to welcome you to IFSEC International. Security is the world’s most critical challenge and IFSEC International is here to drive global safety. It is here to innovate, inspire and transform professionals, products and places. The global security landscape has shifted. 2017 saw attacks take on new shapes, become more insidious and more intrusive. In order to keep pace with these ever‑evolving threats, IFSEC is evolving too – with a change directed by you. In the last ten months, we have committed to an intensive research project, collating insights from feedback and conducting over 540 customer interviews. Naturally, this has given us a clear direction on how to steer the show. 2018 marks the beginning of IFSEC’s evolution, with three carefully curated days designed to give you the answers to the security questions keeping you up at night. One of the most prominent phrases we heard from you was show me how – show me how to install the latest kit, show me the capabilities, show me the future, and show me how to take advantage of new opportunities. In response to your requests, ‘Show Me How’ is a major new development. It highlights learning opportunities within key areas, including cyber and integration, whilst offering an in depth insight into how the technology actually works. As part of this, IFSEC is more dedicated than ever to leadership and education. The show now has a purpose to bridge the knowledge gap and provide you with the tools you need to know your way around the future. Our unparalleled seminar programme is a testament to this. New to 2018 and in partnership with City Forum and London First, the IFSEC Keynote Arena will welcome leading security strategists from government, academia and industry to drive and reflect on topics around ‘Securing The Open Society of 2030’. By taking a pivotal role in thought leadership and attracting a world‑class calibre of speakers, this feature sets a new standard for security events around the world. Also new to 2018, the Converged Security Centre, brought to you by Vidsys, which complements the show’s focus on the convergence between physical security and IT, striving to help you understand your role as an installer, integrator and end user. Powered by the pioneering architects of Converged Security and Information Management, this will feature a range of simulations and case studies detailing the capabilities of a fully converged security system. Additional features include The Future of Security Training Theatre, powered by Tavcom, sponsored by Panasonic UK, Show Me How Speaker’s Corner, the Drone Zone, the BRE Global/LPCB Attack Testing Zone and the finals of the Engineers of Tomorrow competition. Whatever your role in the security industry, we’re building an IFSEC for you. Discover the possibilities for your business and gain a valuable understanding of the latest technology, whilst talking to the experts and learning skills you can implement and benefit from immediately. IFSEC is where the global security community comes together to forge the global agenda. We look forward to welcoming you to three days of adrenaline. Share your thoughts by tweeting us at @IFSEC.

WELCOME

welcome from the British Security Industry Association IFSEC International is the only stage committed to co‑creating the future of integrated security. It is the critical, measured response to a world of ever‑evolving threats, inviting every vertical of the security industry to forge the global agenda. As the leading trade association representing the UK’s private security industry, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) remains a prominent partner of IFSEC, with a variety of staff and members partaking in this year’s busy seminar and debate programme. As well as promoting the importance of choosing a reputable supplier and providing an exclusive lounge for BSIA members to relax in or hold meetings, the BSIA also plans some exciting events throughout the week. IFSEC has a significant role to play in the security sector. Threats to security continue to be some of the world’s greatest challenges, and IFSEC provides a unique opportunity for leading experts and technologies to be seen and tested in an environment focused on keeping people and assets safe. Everybody with a professional dedication to the security sector has a role to play; whether installing physical security equipment, managing a facility or manufacturing a solution, each one is part of the answer. The security sector continually requires systems and technologies that are trustworthy and IFSEC is a tangible example of where the best technologies and services thrive under one roof. Security professionals visiting IFSEC can be safe in the knowledge that not only are they exploring first‑hand the most innovative and trailblazing technologies, they are also meeting with the world’s leading experts and innovators in the security field. Promoting best practice and high quality standards is a key focus of the UK’s private security industry, and the BSIA has led the way in educating buyers about the importance of considering more than just the initial purchase price when making procurement decisions. Representing hundreds of the UK’s quality security providers, the BSIA’s stand is an ideal port of call for buyers seeking a reputable and reliable security provider. Association members adhere to strict standards and enjoy an enviable reputation for producing high quality goods and services. IFSEC International 2018 is set to be another impressive event, with an extensive seminar programme and a wide range of security products and services on show. We look forward to meeting you there.

New for 2018

IFSEC Keynote Arena

You spoke, we listened. Security professionals around the world are asking to be shown their way around the future of integrated security, and IFSEC 2018 has been built around this request. Following extensive research, IFSEC’s focus is expanding to encompass the growing convergence between physical and cyber security. This year, IFSEC will show you how to install the latest kit, show you what it does and show you what it takes to maintain it. IFSEC will show you the future, and it will show you how you can take advantage of emerging opportunities and the vendors you can trust. A vital part of this is the launch of our Show Me How features, where you can expect a detailed explanation – not a sales pitch – of a corresponding product, so that you can gain a deeper understanding into the workings of each security solution. IFSEC International is also introducing the Government Pavillion, new for 2018. The launch of an area dedicated to security in government and the public sector, alongside the continued presence of the Home Office, plays an essential role in elevating IFSEC’s centrality in forging the global agenda. Security is critical – IFSEC 2018’s new features mean it continues to be the place to be a part of the conversation.

New for 2018, IFSEC International’s Keynote Arena will cover every area of security, hosting ‘case study’ style seminars, best practice panel debates, and ‘question time’ audience Q&A sessions from an unrivalled calibre of speakers. This is your exclusive opportunity to hear from the likes of: l Christian Horner, Team Principal of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, who will discuss the team’s Innovation Partnership with FLIR in light of its technical success. l Michael Chertoff, Co-founder & Executive Chairman of The Chertoff Group, who will be discussing 2030 forecasts of emergent threats to national security. l Dr Pippa Malmgren, Founder of DRPM Group and former Special Assistant to the President of the United States, George W Bush, who will be sharing how everyday signs can help us navigate a turbulent world. l Silvino Schlickmann, Director of Cyber Crime at INTERPOL, who will also join to talk about the changing face of cyber criminality. The Keynote Arena will be chaired by Frank Gardner, the only British journalist permanently assigned to cover the ‘War on Terror’. Widely respected in his field, he is known as a leading commentator on defence, the Middle East and security. As well as giving his own opening and closing addresses, Frank will be chairing the IFSEC Keynote Arena discussions and panels.

IFSEC is evolving.

WHAT’S ON / HIGHLIGHTS

Education and Seminars

Attack Testing Zone

The IFSEC International security seminar and conference programme has been drastically re‑vamped for 2018, tackling every vertical to deliver a behind‑the‑scenes look at security’s changing technology trends. Dedicated to showing you how to tackle the latest technologies, these sessions will answer the security questions keeping you awake at night. City Forum and London First will also co‑host security summits and masterclasses for IFSEC 2018. With a catalogue of world‑class speakers, the two half‑day security summits add further authoritative impetus to Europe’s largest annual security trade show.

Show Me How

NEW FOR 2018

Wherever you see a designated technician or enabler wearing a Show Me How badge, you can expect a detailed explanation of a product. They’ll show you how to install the latest kit, show you what it does and show you what it takes to maintain it. Make real‑world sense of products through hands‑on demonstrations.

Speaker’s Corner

NEW FOR 2018

An extension of Show Me How, the dynamic Speaker’s Corner is where solution providers showcase their most cutting‑edge products in 15‑minute time slots, followed by interactive Q&A sessions.

Borders & Infrastructure Borders & Infrastructure Expo is home to the Attack Testing Zone brought to you by LPCB/BRE, the Drone Zone and the Government Pavilion. Collectively, Borders & Infrastructure Expo focuses on products, solutions and learnings for large scale security issues faced by border control, critical national infrastructure, transport, healthcare and key strategic assets.

Meetings Service and Networking Areas Speak directly with your preferred suppliers and solution providers by pre‑booking meetings with them before you arrive. IFSEC’s free meeting service ensures you speak with the people who are important to you, while the SSAIB ICEBAR is a dedicated networking area, where you can meet old and new connections and chat about the issues you face as a business. ASIS and Security Commonwealth members also have exclusive access to the ASIS Lounge, designed to ignite collaboration.

Brought to you by LPCB/BRE Watch expert technicians from LPCB/BRE put perimeter solutions to the test in a series of real‑life attacks, live on the IFSEC show floor. Witness LPCB accredited fencing, shutters, doors and covers tested against non‑certified alternatives and see how they fair. Returning even larger for 2018.

The Future of Security Training Theatre Powered by Tavcom, sponsored by Panasonic UK A rare chance to sit down and be taught by experts in essential CPD accredited presentations. The Future of Security Training Theatre will help you learn exactly how to make sense of the future – and how to capitalise on the emerging possibilities that come with it.

The Drone Zone Back for its third year, the Drone Zone is larger than ever before. Exhibitors with drone and anti‑drone technology will be once again brought into a dedicated area of IFSEC to showcase their high‑quality UAV products. It is a unique chance to see the live application of UAVs and better understand how they can help you protect your business and play a critical part of contemporary security management.

Government Pavilion

NEW FOR 2018

Brand new for 2018, IFSEC’s Government Pavilion will welcome back the likes of the Department for International Trade (DiT), while the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) join us for the first time, and we welcome the Home Office’s Joint Security and Resilience Centre (JSaRC) for the second consecutive year.

Engineers of Tomorrow The Engineers of Tomorrow competition, which sees young engineers and apprentices compete against each other in a live installation challenge, returns to IFSEC International this year for the 20th time. This year the competition is taking a further step towards tackling the growing engineering skills gap by adding a live installation challenge for fire apprentices, as well as for those from the security sector, following a successful trial in 2017. The competition will pit more than 60 young engineers – working in teams of two – against each other. Heat winners will be invited to the Security & Fire Excellence Awards in November 2018, where an overall winner will be announced and claim a £1,000 prize.

WELCOME

Welcome TO FIELD SERVICE MANAGEMENT EXPO

Now in its fifth year, I’m thrilled to present you with Field Service Management Expo 2018.

Last year’s show was a huge success. Our name change was a responsive move to reflect the true nature of our visitors. Since then, we’ve kept in close conversation with the industry, noting what’s important to you, the growing trends, and the pressure points within the profession. As ever, our mission is to connect the right people to the right solutions, inspire new ways of thinking and give you the tools you need to optimise all corners of your business. In line with this, our theme this year is ‘the changing face of technology and its impact on service management,’ making Field Service Management Expo a 3‑day‑long hub of connectivity. It’s a place where the entire industry can collaborate under one roof, sharing products, strategies and forward‑thinking initiatives. We’re also thrilled to welcome the 2018 Inspirational Speaker Series to the Field Service Management Expo Keynote Theatre. This year, we’ll be joined by Ruby Wax OBE, Nicky Moffat CBE and Sir Clive Woodward OBE. They’ll address communication, leadership, inclusive change and optimum performance. You’ll also have full access to the Meetings Service, allowing you to pre‑book time ahead of the show. Get face to face with key suppliers and prospects, talk business and strengthen your existing relationships. We’re geared up for another fantastic year at Field Service Management Expo. I’m excited to welcome the entire field service management industry, and I invite you to collaborate, learn and source cost‑effective solutions in an adrenaline‑packed week. Join the conversation – or throw any feedback our way. Tweet us at @FSMExpo.
