@igspost16 Staff, students and other Creative Arts Evening visitors guest star in new Media videos Alongside the many excellent showcases of student talent on the recent Creative Arts Evening, A2 Media students were busy filming visitors lip-synching and dancing, producing some very entertaining results! Having managed to preview this material with a teaser video which concluded the Evening, after some fraught and frantic editing (well done Jake, Dec and Curtis!), we can now share with you three videos featuring a variety of familiar staff faces, students, parents and school governors… Our various volunteer performers now feature in videos for Faithless (Insomnia), The Pussycat Dolls (When I Grow Up) and dance act Storm Queen (Look Right Through) – some chilling out on a comfy armchair, others busting moves choreographed by Poppy from the Dolls team, and then there’s the ‘grandad dancing’… In my own case, I ‘skilfully’ blended granddad dancing with Dolls moves! All three videos contain brief previews of material that may be used in the final coursework videos alongside the Creative Arts Evening footage; if you check back through late December and January/ February, rough cuts and eventually final cuts will begin to appear. Scan the QR code or type in youtube.com/user/IGSMediaStudies to visit the Media channel (click in ‘Videos’ or look for the 2014 A2 playlist). Also in the 2014 A2 playlist you can find the One Direction video (and others) created by these same students as a combined practice exercise. All the videos from previous years have been added to a new playlist, ‘Music Video Final Cuts’, several of which are included in the feature length documentary DVD on the 2012 Media students (ask for further details). The new compilation of AS student film company idents is also well worth a look (just click into ‘Videos’). As critical analysis forms a vital part of the coursework, any constructive comments you may have on these, or later full rough/ final cuts, would be very welcomed. My thanks to all of you who so gamely volunteered to participate on the Creative Arts Evening, and my hat off to Kate, Millie, Poppy, Tilly, Ben, George, Dec, Jake and Curtis for doing themselves, Media and the Creative Arts, and the school proud with their efforts on the night and since, with the time-consuming editing. I think you may have unearthed a few future stars! Dave Burrowes, Media Studies
