Team Sports Kit Amnesty We are calling an amnesty for any school team kit or any netball/hockey bibs which might be lurking in bedrooms etc! Please could parents and students have a good hunt over half term for any items which belong to school. We have several rugby, football, basketball shirts, athletics/crosscountry vests, and hockey/netball bibs missing probably left at home by mistake. Please return any items you may have to Miss Haines at the staffroom - no names, no recriminations, just bring our kit back PLEASE!

Matthew Bourne/Phoenix Dance Project Please can the students who were interested in the Matthew Bourne/Phoenix Dance project attend a short meeting in P Hall at the start of lunch on Friday 7th March. Miss Watson

Year 12 ileaders - Lake District trip Please meet in the Courtyard Café at 8.30am prompt on Monday March 10th. You will need to have warm, waterproof clothing (top and trousers) and shoes/boots suitable for wearing on the moor. BBC One is on the hunt for the best of Britain's amateur artists for a new competitive arts series. The programme is looking for amateur painters from all over the UK who have a passion for painting and drawing. If you are over 16 and like a creative challenge, we want to hear from you. Applicants must not be professional artists and will be expected to work in a variety of different figurative forms and media - from landscape, portraiture and still life, to watercolour, oil and charcoal. The closing date for applications is Sunday 23 March 2014. TO APPLY Please send your name, address, age, occupation, contact number and: • a recent photo of yourself; • up to three images that best represent the range of your work • a short paragraph about why you paint. On World Book, we would like the impact of the day to be felt in our classrooms and Post 16 so we are holding our first ‘Stop Everything and Read’ event during period 3 on the 6th March. Choose some interesting and relevant material to act as a stimulus for discussion: it could be a newspaper or magazine article, a poem, an extract from a novel, an academic article…..whatever fits in and would add even more interest to your current studies.

Come and see local writer, Mary Colson, who is enjoying a very successful career as a non-fiction specialist for teenage audiences. However, she also has an MA in Creative Writing from UEA and will have a lot to offer youngsters who have an interest in writing, as well as reading in general. We would like to invite you and your students/interested candidates to our Chef Recruitment Awareness Open Day at the Marriott Hollins Hall Hotel & Country Club on Tuesday 4th March 2014 from 2-5pm The event will run from 2pm – 5pm and will be interactive and fun. You will see chefs in action. There will be an opportunity to speak to Babcock, our NVQ training provider and the local colleges that we work with to discuss learning opportunities whilst training to be a chef. The event is about raising awareness to individuals seeking a career as a chef, as well as filling existing roles in our Kitchen. We currently have a Chef de Partie, Apprentice, and possibly a Commis Chef vacancy. Talk to us, and see our chefs in action and why working as a chef could be the best career move you can make!
