His book, The Pit of the Bears (2003) and his novel The Ear Collector (2013) have been translated into French, and the latter is being translated into Italian. The Apocalypse according to Benedict, received the PEN American Center Lily Tuck Prize, 2010, was translated into English and presented in Australia in April 2013. The Salad Girl is a novella presented in Paraguay in 2016, and is available as a bilingual Spanish-English ebook. His texts are works in which the author describes reality through Paraguayan characters – very Latin American characters – or through the “manipulation” of quasi-historical characters, a formula that is repeated in his last two books, both set in Australia: The Good Luck of Olivo Monguto and Other Australian Tales (2017, Arandura Editorial) and ¡Aguante Arzamendia! (2018, Arandura Editorial). Both books are the result of years of work during his time in Melbourne and Canberra. Es doctor en Humanidades por la Universidad Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona y director de su Máster en Creación Literaria. Ha vivido en Buenos Aires, Rosario y Chicago. Publica regularmente en diversos medios, entre ellos The New York Times en Español, El País, La Vanguardia y Letras Libres. Es autor de la tetralogía de ficción Las huellas (conformada por Los muertos, Los huérfanos, Los turistas y Los difuntos) y de varios libros de no ficción, entre los que destacan Australia.
