A word from

MAYOR JIM GUNNING Lone Tree is expanding – there is no doubt about that. With five residential developments, a hotel, three major health services projects and one giant sporting goods store all currently under development, the landscape of Lone Tree continues to evolve. Yet, it is the jewel box you are sitting in now that I think defines a critical element of the direction of Lone Tree. We are a city committed to advancing the quality of life of citizens and guests, expanding opportunities to people of all ages and recruiting the best-ofthe-best to live and work in Lone Tree. The Arts Center exemplifies that vision; as one of the few cities of our size to boast a professional facility like this one, we continue to set the pace. Last summer, the Arts Center received an interesting message via Facebook. A gentleman in Texas was looking to relocate; he explored several metro areas, paying particular attention to surrounding communities in his search for the right balance of convenience, community and amenities. In his review of Denver, he found our Arts Center and, consequently, Lone Tree. He was immediately impressed, not only with the LTAC, but with our city in general. He may have eventually found Lone Tree another way, but his top criteria for where to live was a place with arts nearby. We all knew LTAC would be a benefit to Lone Tree and its neighbors; this story highlights to me that LTAC is also an exceptional beacon for our city to those beyond our backyard. It is truly a great day to be in Lone Tree and a great night to be at the Lone Tree Arts Center. Enjoy your show! Sincerely, Mayor Jim Gunning

A word from

Executive Director Lisa Rigsby Peterson Since we opened the Lone Tree Arts Center in early September 2011, close to 60,000 people have come through our doors. You’ve come for concerts, plays, meetings, fundraisers, dance recitals, ski movies, classes, speakers, community updates, awards ceremonies, magic shows, children’s programs – you name it. Almost every nook and cranny of the building has been used by professional performers, community groups, and other rental clients. One night we featured the award-winning Arvada Center production of Ragtime, and a few days later saw the stage taken over by dozens of children performing in Christian Youth Theatre’s Hello Dolly!. Our youngest audience member was a 4-week old baby lulled by a Lone Tree Symphony Orchestra concert; our oldest was a 96-year old woman attending a live musical production (White Christmas) for the first time in her life. We think our attendance numbers are impressive – but it’s the individual experience that each of you has when you come here that means the most to us. From the beginning, our goal has been to make sure that the Lone Tree Arts Center serves as a vibrant center for the community. We don’t just want you to come through our doors once. We want you to leave saying to yourself “I can’t wait to go back there again!” If someone has gone out of their way to make your experience here an extraordinary one, then we are doing our job well. Your presence in our audience is important to us. We hope that you enjoy the performance you see tonight, and that the 2012/13 season will bring you back through our doors again soon! Enjoy the show! Lisa Rigsby Peterson, Executive Director

Donor Profiles SCIENTIFIC & CULTURAL FACILITIES DISTRICT Since 1989, Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) has distributed funds from a 1/10 of 1% sales and use tax to cultural facilities throughout the seven-county Denver, Colorado metropolitan area. The funds support cultural facilities whose primary purpose is to enlighten and entertain the public through the production, presentation, exhibition, advancement and preservation of art, music, theatre, dance, zoology, botany, natural history and cultural history. Distributing approximately $40 million annually, the SCFD provides funding to roughly 300 organizations each year, including the Lone Tree Arts Center. As a result of SCFD, Denver is now in the national spotlight and has been elevated in stature to a world-class cultural center.

Donor Profiles LONE TREE CULTURAL ARTS FOUNDATION The Lone Tree Cultural Arts Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, was formed in 2008 to ensure that the Lone Tree Arts Center meets the current and future needs of the community. During the construction phase of the Arts Center, the Foundation worked to raise funds necessary to realize many of the extraordinary upgrades to the Center that you see today – including the beautiful grand piano and the orchestra shell. The Foundation is currently focused on enhancing the Lone Tree Arts Center by providing fundraising and other community leadership. As part of the effort to provide superior programming at the Arts Center, the Lone Tree Cultural Arts Foundation actively works to secure funding in support of specific programs at the Center. In fact, during the 2012/2013 season, the Lone Tree Cultural Arts Foundation is proud to be a presenting sponsor of all six theatrical productions.

Grand Piano Donated to LTAC The Lone Tree Cultural Arts Foundation donated a Yamaha C7 grand piano to the Lone Tree Arts Center at the end of May. The acquisition of a piano for the Arts Center was the final element of the first phase of the Capital Campaign, a threeyear fundraising effort led by the Foundation. The Yamaha grand is a piano of choice for some of the world’s leading musicians, and owning rather than having to rent such a marvelous

instrument will mean long-term savings for the Arts Center. Special thanks go to major piano contributors Linda Bjelland, Betty A. and Don E. Winslow, and Park Meadows Shopping Center. Foundation Chair Art Bouton commented with a smile, “We’ve worked a long time on this, and over the last year we’ve become experts on all things piano. Not to say that any of us can play.”
