Seperti yang tersaji pada tabel di atas, baku mutu limbah cair dari Pabrik karet milik PTPN XIII semua telah sesuai ketentuan, sedangkan baku mutu Pabrik Minyak Sawit (PMS) berada di atas baku teknis.

As presented in the table above, the liquid waste quality standard from the PTPN XIII’s rubber mills all have been match with the provision, while the quality standard of the palm oil mill (POM) is above the technical standard.

Setiap Pabrik Minyak Sawit PTPN XIII dilengkapi dengan Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL). Dari 9 (Sembilan) PMS yang dimiliki PTPN XIII, 3 (tiga) PMS telah memanfaatkan air limbah pabrik untuk menambah kesuburan lahan melalui program land application, yaitu PMS Kembayan, PMS Longkali, PMS Pelaihari, 2 (dua) PMS sedang dalam proses program land application, yaitu PMS Samuntai, PMS Longpinang. Limbah yang keluar dari inlet dialirkan terlebih dahulu ke dalam beberapa kolam IPAL untuk mengurangi kadar BOD. Selanjutnya, air limbah dialirkan melalui pipa menuju sejumlah blok di areal kebun inti. (G4-EN23) PTPN XIII juga memanfaatkan sisa minyak sawit di doiling pond (drab akhir) yang digunakan untuk bahan baku biodiesel, yaitu di PMS Parindu dan PMS Samuntai. Biodiesel produk PTPN XIII merupakan energi terbarukan yang lebih ramah lingkungan. Pemanfaatannya saat ini masih terbatas untuk kebutuhan intern perusahaan, yaitu sebagai bahan bakar truk pengangkut CPO.(G4-EN6)

Every PTPN XIII’s palm oil mill is completed with wastewater processing installation (IPAL). From 9 (nine) POMs belong to PTPN XIII, 3 (three) of them have used the mill’s wastewater to increase the land fertility through land application program, include POM Kembayan, POM Longkali, POM Pelaihari, 2 (two) POMs are currently in the process of land application program, they are POM Samuntai, POM Longpinang. The waste from the inlet is first flowed into several ponds of IPAL to reduce the BOD level. Furthermore, the wastewater is flowed into pipe to numbers of blocks in the nucleus plantation. (G4-EN23)

PTPN XIII saat ini tengah melaksanakan Pilot project produksi pupuk hayati berbasis limbah cair Pabrik Minyak Sawit (BioN13) kapasitas 200 liter/hari di PMS Parindu, bekerjasama dengan PT. Riset Perkebunan Nusantara (PT. RPN) – Balai Penelitian Bioteknologi Perkebunan Indonesia (BPBPI). Sebelumnya, Bio N13 telah melewati tahap uji coba di Laboratorium BPI Bogor dan diujicobakan pada sejumlah tanaman seperti padi di Pontianak, dan pembibitan sawit di Kebun Ngabang. Diharapkan melalui pilot project ini dapat diperoleh data sistem produksi, distribusi dan pemasaran pupuk hayati BioN13 sehingga dapat disusun studi kelayakan pendirian pabrik pupuk hayati BioN 13 skala komersial. Saat ini, sedang dalam proses izin edar dan HAKI agar bisa diproduksi secara massal.

At present the PTPN XIII is currently carrying out a pilot project of biofertilizer production based on liquid waste of Palm Oil Mill (BioN13) with capacity 200 litres per day in POM Parindu, in cooperation with PT. Riset Perkebunan Nusantara (PT. RPN) – Biotechnology Research Center of Indonesian Plantation (BPBPI). Previously, BioN13 has passed the trial phase in BPI’s Laboratorium in Bogor and tested on several plantations such as rice in Pontianak, and oil palm nurseries in Ngabang Plantation. It is expected that with this pilot project can be derived the data of production system, distribution and BioN13 biofertilizer marketing thus can be drafted the feasibility study of the founding of BioN13 factory in commercial scale. At present, the distribution license and Intellectual Property Rights (HAKI) is currently in process obtaining its distribution license and Intellectual Property Rights in order it can be mass produced.

Solid Waste Management

Pada tahun 2013, PTPN XIII telah mengolah TBS sebanyak 1.489.957 ton, sehingga menghasilkan limbah padat berupa tandan kosong sekitar 393.206 ton (22%), solid decanter sekitar 59.598 ton (4%), cangkang sekitar 89.397 ton (6%), fiber sekitar 193.694 ton (13%).

In 2013, PTPN XIII has processed FFB amounted to 1,489,957 ton, thus it was producing solid waste in form of empty bunches about 393,206 ton (22%), solid decanter about 59,598 ton (4 %), shell about 89,397 ton (6%), fibre about 193,694 ton (13%).

Limbah padat pabrik yang perlu ditangani dengan baik adalah tandan kosong (tankos) dan solid decanter. Untuk memperkecil pencemaran lingkungan akibat pemakaian incinerator, maka dilakukan upaya pemanfaatan tandan kosong dan solid decanter yang mempunyai peluang nilai tambah melalui program pemulsaan dan pemupukan.
