Town Manager’s Weekly Message Keeping you informed about what’s happening in the Town of Meredith This message is updated each Friday to keep residents informed about town issues and activities. September 11, 2009 UPCOMING EVENTS IN MEREDITH:
WATER & SEWER Infrastructure Improvements Project Construction Notice Sewer repair and road improvement work on Main Street between Waukewan St. and Lake St. began on August 31st. Construction is expected to last for approximately 3 weeks and will take place between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. The roadway will be open to local traffic only from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; however access to sidewalks will be maintained. Traffic coming from the center of town will be diverted to Lake St. onto Route 3. Traffic coming toward the center of town from the intersection of Waukewan and Main St. will be diverted onto Mill St. then to Route 3. Although every effort will be made to maintain water and sewer service, temporary interruption of service could occur. NO OVERNIGHT PARKING WILL BE PERMITTED ON MAIN ST. FROM THE HUMISTON SCHOOL BUILDING TO THE RAILROAD TRACKS. PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT PUBLIC NOTICE Lower Ladd Hill Railroad Crossing Repairs/Road Closure Construction on the Lower Ladd Hill railroad crossing has begun. The crossing will be closed to traffic Monday – Thursday, September 14-17. Although we are making every effort to keep the crossing open to traffic, the possibility exists for intermittent closings throughout the construction process. Meredith Bay Regatta 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. A 2.5 mile Head Race on Lake Winnipesaukee. Registration starts at 7 a.m. at Hesky Park in Meredith Bay. For more information, please contact Robin Logel at 254-9984 for further information.
Altrusa Club of Meredith Food Drive 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM The Altrusa Club of Meredith is sponsoring a food drive to fill the shelves of local food pantries. If you have unopened, non-perishable, unexpired food goods that you do not want to keep, we will take them to the Moultonborough, Center Harbor and Meredith food pantries. The food pantries also need non-food items: paper towels, detergent, toilet tissue, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. To request item pick up between the hours of 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM, and for more information, contact Linda at (603) 707-0734. PARKS & RECREATION
For more information on any Parks & Recreation program or activity, please call 2798197. Fall Brochures is currently available at the Meredith Community Center and on the Town of Meredith website, at: Parks & Recreation, Meredith, NH. Youth Gym and Fitness Pre-school children ages 4-5 will learn how to play in a group setting while following simple rules and boundaries. This is an opportunity for children to learn a variety of body and spatial awareness concepts through games and fun. Maximum of 8 children per session. Sessions will be held at the Meredith Community Center on Tuesdays, beginning on October 6, 2009. Morning sessions are from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m., and afternoon sessions are from 12:45 - 1:30 p.m. Fees are $12 per child for residents and $17 per child for non-residents. The registration deadline is one week prior to the start of the session.
PUBLIC WORKS Old Center Harbor Road. Drainage work on the 25 B side of Old Center Harbor Rd. has begun and will continue for the next several weeks. Your patience during this project is appreciated.

Sign up is helpful. 3:30 - 4:30 PM Curiosity Club Join the club that loves to explore! Each month a new wild topic! This month we will explore insects and make our own 3-D bug! The club is for ages 4-9 and will meet every 2nd Wednesday of the month! Thursday September 17, 2009 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM Knotty Knitters Drop in with your knitting projects and join a group of fun-loving knitters on Thursday mornings.
