MEREDITH TOWN OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED ON FRIDAY, JULY 3RD IN OBSERVANCE OF INDEPENDENCE DAY.
PERMITS ARE REQUIRED TO DISPLAY CONSUMER FIREWORKS 15 DAYS IN ADVANCE OF INTENDED USE DATE AND MUST BE SIGNED BY BOTH POLICE AND FIRE CHIEF’S.
THE SOLID WASTE FACILITY WILL BE OPEN ON FRIDAY, JULY 3RD, CLOSED ON SATURDAY, JULY 4TH AND WILL REOPEN ON SUNDAY, JULY 5TH.

American Legion BBQ at Hesky Park 4:00 p.m. Meredith Lions Annual Rubber Duckie Race at Mill Falls Marketplace. 7:00 p.m. Meredith Summer Concert Series at Hesky Park featuring Americana music by “Amy Gallatin and Stillwaters”. Followed by the Annual Fireworks Display over Meredith Bay.
Conservation Celebration! The Trust for Public Land and the Town of Meredith invite you to celebrate the conservation of Page Pond and Forest. 3-5 p.m. at Moulton’s Farm, 18 Quarry Rd. Rt. 25 Meredith. 6:30 p.m. Meredith Summer Concert Series at Hesky Park. Free Jazz/Blues concert featuring the band “Truffle”.
Annual Antique & Classic Boat Show, Meredith Town Docks 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Street Dance on Main Street in Meredith 7-9:30 p.m.
PARKS & RECREATION – The Meredith Parks & Recreation Summer Brochure is now available for pickup at the Meredith Community Center. The brochure lists all of the townsponsored recreation programs for the upcoming season such as the Summer Concert Series, Movies in the Park, swim lessons, tennis lessons, and Camp Can Do information. There is also
information on the Meredith Swim Team, Theatre Camp in late August, and a trip to see the Boston Red Sox on August 12th. The summer brochure may also be viewed online at the town website at www.meredithnh.org. Red Cross Babysitting Course – Will be offered by the Meredith Parks & Recreation Department on Saturday, July 11th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Meredith Community Center. The course is open to students ages 11 and older. Participants will receive professional instruction on basic safety, CPR, first aid, children’s activities and games. The registration fee is $40 for Meredith residents and $45 for non-residents. Registration deadline is Wednesday, July 8th. Pre-registration is required and the class is limited to 10 participants. Forms may be picked up at the Meredith Community Center or downloaded from the town website, www.meredithnh.org. Red Cross Swimming Lessons – will be offered at Leavitt Beach and Waukewan Beach beginning Monday, July 6th. There will be three two-week sessions offered throughout the summer. The resident fee is $15 per session and the non-resident fee is $30 per session. Participants may register at either beach starting June 27th or at the Meredith Community Center prior to June 27th. Participants must be 5 years of age at the time of the class. Meredith Swim Team - Registrations are now being accepted for the Meredith Swim Team. Swimmers age 8 to 16 who have the desire to improve their swimming skills and compete in swim meets are encouraged to join. Practices begin on July 1st and are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at Waukewan Beach from 9:00 -11:30. The resident fee for one child is $30 and for two children is $55. The non-resident fee is $40 per child. Registrations may be dropped off or mailed to the Meredith Community Center, One Circle Drive, Meredith. Red Sox Game - The Meredith Parks & Recreation Department is sponsoring a trip to Fenway Park to see the Boston Red Sox play the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, August 12th. A coach bus will provide transportation from the Meredith Community Center to Boston for the 7:05 p.m. game. Tickets are $120 per ticket. Registrations are now being at the Meredith Community Center. This trip is open to Meredith residents and taxpayers only. For more information on any of the programs being offered, please call the Meredith Parks & Recreation Department at 279-8197.
PUBLIC WORKS ROAD UPDATE – Batchelder Hill Rd. Phase II is on schedule. Gravel will be placed on the road this week with ditching to follow. Paving will begin the week of July 15th, weather permitting. HAZARDOUS HOUSEHOLD WASTE COLLECTIONS DAY – On Saturday, July 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Lakes Region residents may dispose of household hazardous waste items which require proper, safe disposal. Any member town associated with Lakes Region Planning
Commission and Hazardous Household Waste Day may drop off items at the Meredith Public Works Garage located at 11 Jenness Hill Rd. For specifics on what items will be accepted and additional drop off locations, please contact the Meredith Public Works office at 279-6352 or visit the LRPC website.
MEREDITH PUBLIC LIBRARY â€“ The following additional events will take place in the coming week at the Meredith Public Library: Tuesday July 7, 2009 6:30 - 7:30 PM Bed Time Stories Ages 3-8. Come in your pajamas for bedtime stories, project and a good night snack. The first Tuesday of every month. Sign-up is helpful! Wednesday July 8, 2009 10:30 AM -12:30 PM Knotty Knitters Finish up your projects, swap ideas and get some advice at this relaxed knitting group. All levels of experience are welcome. 3:30 - 4:30 PM Story Walk Meet at Community Center playground for a walk and read through the 186 acre forest off of Philbrook St. For Families with children pre-k through 3rd grade. Thursday July 9, 2009 2:00 - 3:00 PM Adult Beginners' Yoga All ages and abilities Have you ever wanted to try Yoga but wanted to make sure you like it before you commit? Or maybe you used to do it and want to get back into the swing of things. Please join Rosemary Shannon as she guides you in a free beginners' yoga class. 6:00 - 8:00 PM Teen Movie Night Just for teens movie night. Inkheart, starring Brendan Fraser. In this Rated PG movie, book lover Mo Folchart (Brendan Fraser) has discovered a way to bring book characters to life. That means that adorable Toto from The Wizard of Oz is suddenly yapping under Mo's daughter Meggie's (Eliza Bennett) bed. But it also means that somewhere, a real person or thing has been sucked into the book world--battling flying monkeys and evildoers that suddenly are real threats. Popcorn and drinks will be served.
