Annual Antique & Classic Boat Show, Meredith Town Docks - 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. A huge gathering of beautiful antique and classic wooden boats with over 80 vintage wooden boats on display all day in a judged competition. For more information, visit the ACBS website at:

July 28th

Performer Marcus Gale – 10:00 a.m. Beautiful Hesky Park is the perfect setting for children of all ages to join Marcus Gale in song, dance and lots of laughter. His repertoire features kiddie classics, comic tunes, and storytelling. Bring your lawn chair or a blanket to this free event and have a great time! July 30th

Movies in the Park – Dusk This week’s movie at Hesky Park is Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, rated G starring Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman. Bring your lawn chair and spend a balmy summer night with your family enjoying this fanciful fantasy. Concessions will be sold benefiting local youth programs. $2 suggested donation. July 31st

Street Dance on Main Street in Meredith 7-9:30 p.m. Enjoy a great tradition for the entire family with classic rock performed by “City Limits”. This event is free and all ages are welcome!

August 29th & 30th

Lakes Region Fine Arts and Crafts Festival – 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. An outdoor juried fine arts and crafts exhibition and sale, celebrating its 30th year in 2009. Featuring high quality works of over 110 artists and craftspeople, the Festival is held outdoors in Meredith, among the Meredith Village Shops and the Mill Falls Marketplace.

CONSERVATION COMMISSION - Weed Watcher Training - July 26th 10 a.m. -1p.m. - Learn how to identify invasive weeds in Lake Waukewan. For more information contact Janan at: PARKS & RECREATION – The Meredith Parks & Recreation Summer Brochure is now available for pickup at the Meredith Community Center. The brochure lists all of the town-sponsored recreation programs for the upcoming season such as the Summer Concert Series, Movies in the Park, swim lessons, tennis lessons, and Camp Can Do information. There is also information on the Meredith Swim Team, Theatre Camp in late August. Red Sox Game - The Meredith Parks & Recreation Department is sponsoring a trip to Fenway Park to see the Boston Red Sox play the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, August 12th. A coach bus will provide transportation from the Meredith Community Center to Boston for the 7:05 p.m. game. Tickets are

$120 per ticket. Registrations are now being at the Meredith Community Center. This trip is open to Meredith residents and taxpayers only. For more information on any of the programs being offered, please call the Meredith Parks & Recreation Department at 279-8197. FROM THE TOWN CLERKS OFFICE - As of August 1st the fees for Registering Vehicles are increasing. Any registrations done prior to August 1st will be at the lower rate. The specific rates increases are as follows. Please note that registrations can be renewed up to 4 Months early. Please feel free to contact the Town Clerk’s office for any questions. OTHER INCREASES Vanity Plate - From $25 to $40.00 per year Motorcycles - From $15.00 to $25.00 per year $1.00 fee for the Motorcycle training will still be charged Transfer fees increase from $10.00 to $25.00 PUBLIC WORKS – The following are updates on various Public Works projects: The Pleasant Street overlay had been rescheduled for July 22nd. Shoulder Gravel for Batchelder Hill Rd. is scheduled for the end of this week, July 17, or early next week, July 20. The Main Street sewer is tentatively scheduled for the end of July and town wide roadside mowing is continuing. Ditching of Chemung and Collins Brook Rd. is ongoing. HAZARDOUS HOUSEHOLD WASTE COLLECTIONS DAY – On Saturday, July 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Lakes Region residents may dispose of household hazardous waste items which require proper, safe disposal. Any member town associated with Lakes Region Planning Commission and Hazardous Household Waste Day may drop off items at the Meredith Public Works Garage located at 11 Jenness Hill Rd. For specifics on what items will be accepted and additional drop off locations, please contact The Meredith Public Works office at 279-6352.

MEREDITH PUBLIC LIBRARY – The following additional events will take place in the coming week at the Meredith Public Library:

Saturday July 25, 2009 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Kite Making Workshop All Ages Make and decorate your own kites to take home! Please sign-up in advance. Tuesday July 28, 2009 5:00 - 7:00 PM Child and Teen Read/Eat-a-thon Children and teens will be broken into two groups. Read quietly, then have pizza and chat with friends. Please sign-up for this event. Wednesday July 29, 2009 3:30 - 4:30 PM Afternoon Adventures Ages 5-10 If you are a camper or a sailor or just a kid you need to know knots! Learn knot tying from Boy Scout experts. Please sign-up for this activity. Friday July 31, 2009 9:30 - 10:15 AM Tot Time Ages 1-3 Read stories, sing songs and have fun 1:30 - 3:30 PM Free Movie Matinee Knowing starring Nicholas Cage. Rated PG-13. Saturday August 1, 2009 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Jewelry Making Workshop Please join jewelry artist Maureen Salvoni as she teaches basic beading techniques. Everyone will be leaving with a hand-made bracelet. If you have special buttons you would like to use please bring them, though buttons and beads will be provided. Maureen recommends five buttons with shanks and two buttons with just holes. This program is free however registration is required. Seating is limited. 2:00 - 4:00 PM Meet Summer Reading Artist Meet Karel Hayes the NH artist for Children's Summer Reading at Innisfree Bookstore.
