NITTANY APARTMENTS  First-year students attending Penn State Schuylkill are assigned a space in the Nittany II, III or IV Apartment buildings. The buildings are located along University Drive.  Each apartment has three bedrooms that sleep two people each. There is a fully furnished kitchen and living room as well as two bathrooms. Buildings are co-ed however each apartment is gender specific.  Police are on-duty 24/7 during all times that the apartments are open to residents.  Ample parking is adjacent to the apartment buildings for all residents. Permits are required and available through Campus Police.  ALL Nittany Apartment buildings are smoke -free. Smoking is strictly prohibited!

First-Year Student Residency Requirement At the Penn State Schuylkill Campus, first-year students are required to live on campus. Research shows that first -year students on campus have better grades, develop a better academic foundation, acquire stronger social skills, and learn to form responsible, independent decisions. Nittany Apartment Housing Contract Process (New Residents) Housing in the Schuylkill Campus Advisory Board Nittany Apartments is required for first-year students whose home is more than 50 miles from campus. Students who accept their offer of admission by paying the $200 enrollment fee to the University receive a separate housing offer for the Nittany Apartments . This process begins after February 1st for the Fall semester and October 1st for the Spring semester. Students must then accept their housing contract and submit a $100 security deposit. Students deciding to cancel their admission to Penn State Schuylkill must also cancel their housing in order to receive a security deposit refund

Common Housing Question If I receive a housing contract offer does that mean I am guaranteed a space? All new students with a home address further than 50 miles from the Penn State Schuylkill Campus are required to live in the Nittany Apartments. I paid the $200 enrollment fee to the University but I did not get a housing offer in the mail. What should I do? EMAIL Eva Cresswell at euc10@psu.edu. Please include your PSU ID number in your message. What happens when housing is full? Nittany Apartment housing is a popular choice for students. When all double-occupancy rooms are filled, we have a percentage of rooms that are considered tripled bedrooms. Students will be assigned to these rooms based on admission date to the University. As spaces in housing become available throughout the semester, students in tripled rooms will be reassigned to a standard room. What are the rental rates for the Nittany Apartments? Rental rates for Fall 2014-Spring 2015 have not yet been established. However, the rates for the Fall 2013/Spring 2014 academic year are $2857(Nittany I-IV) or $2909 (Nittany V) per person, per semester, for a double occupancy bedroom. You can expect a slight increase in these rates for the Fall 2014-Spring 2015 academic year. Rates include electric, water, sewer, trash removal, local phone, basic cable, and full internet/wi-fi access. Is everyone attending PSU Schuylkill eligible for housing in the Nittany Apartments? Residents must be a full-time degree seeking student taking a minimum of 12 credits. Can I request a specific roommate? Roommates of the same gender are assigned by the Housing Manager based on the hobby & inter-

ests information as submitted on the housing contract whenever possible. Roommate requests will only be honored if both parties request each other. When will I know my apartment assignment? Student housing assignments will be available approximately one month before the beginning of the Fall semester. The room assignment will include contact information of all the students assigned to your apartment. What are the conditions for canceling my contract? Cancellation must be submitted (by the student) to Housing Manager Kim Quinn via email (kab239@psu.edu), or in writing via U.S. Mail addressed to The Schuylkill Campus Advisory Board.
