WELCOME TO THE PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY OF ORANGE COUNTY

The Philharmonic Society presents the world's greatest symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, soloists and international artists. In the 2020-21 season, we also introduce a brand-new piano series including recitals by Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Leif Ove Andsnes, and Seong-Jin Cho, and at the center of our season present an exclusive West Coast appearance of the world-renowned Chicago Symphony Orchestra with Riccardo Muti in a week-long Festival residency. In addition, our 2021 Laguna Beach Music Festival artistic director, Conrad Tao, is one of the fastest rising ri i stars of his generation: a polymath who performs, p f composes, dreams up wild and fascinating fasci i partnerships, and whose creative genius is bound only by his own imagination. As Orange County’s first music organization, the Philharmonic Society has evolved and grown with the community’s changing landscape and more than six decades later, we remain dedicated to enhancing Orange County’s vibrant cultural life. Our newly refreshed Eclectic Orange programs blend together multiple art forms and genres, and bring some of the most creative-minded classical musicians center stage with works re-imagined and classical music experiences redefined. Paramount to our presentations on stage, the Philharmonic Society this season continues to connect with our community: offering ensembles such as the Orange County Youth Symphony, where young musicians further develop their talents and passion for music. We’ve launched a free Music Matters family concert series, continue to reinvest in local school music programs, and host in-school and curriculum-based music programs throughout the community free of charge, which reach more than 100,000 young people annually. It is deeply satisfying to play such an important role in our community. I thank you for joining us this season, and look forward to sharing these beautiful music-filled experiences along with you.

TOMMY PHILLIPS President and Artistic Director
