GREECE


Greece, officially the Hellenic Republic, is a country in South-eastern Europe. It has a population of 11million.

The Capital city of Greece is Athens.

Greece borders Albania, the Republic of Macedonia and Bulgaria to the north, and Turkey to the east. The Aegean Sea is to the east and south of mainland Greece, the Ionian Sea is to the west. Both are part of the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and have many islands.


Greece became a member of the European Union in 1981.


The language spoken in Greece is Greek, spoken by 99% of the population (the official language). Many Greeks also understand English, French and German, which are taught in schools.

Jupiter

The father of all fathers, the wisdom and light. The king of the gods after killing his father, Kronos, the ruler of Mount Olympus and the god of the sky, thunder and lightning. Though he is married more then once, his real queen is Hera. Zeus is the father of Hermes, Hephaestus, Dionysus, Athena, Ares, Persephone, Apollo, and Artemis. Some also say that Aphrodite is a daughter of Zeus.

Greece's history is one of the richest in the world. It was home of many great philosophers like Plato and Aristotle and of kings like Alexander the Great and Leonidas. Greece is said to be the birthplace of Democracy.
