Socks5 Proxy

Socket Secure (SOCKS5) is an Internet protocol that routes network packets between a client and server through a proxy server. ď Ź

A Socks5 server proxies TCP connections to an arbitrary IP address, and provides a means for UDP packets to be forwarded. ď Ź

Uses of SOCKS5 Proxy ď Ź

ď Ź

SOCKS5 is used as a circumvention tool, allowing traffic to bypass Internet filtering to access content otherwise blocked, e.g., by governments, workplaces, schools, and country-specific web services. SOCKS5 uses a handshake protocol to inform the proxy software about the connection that the client is trying to make.

Advantages of SOCKS5 Proxy 

Socks5 proxy uses only secure connection between client and the proxy server. That means nobody including your internet provider or administrator of local area network can’t see what you are actually sending or receiving. The only solution to keep your IP hidden is to use Socks5 proxy.

Disadvantages of SOCKS5 Proxy 

Socks5 Private Proxy, itself does nothing to protect your data. It simply allows you to proxy your connections through another connection. Any traffic going between the client and the Socks5 proxy is not encrypted.

Difference between SOCKS4 & SOCKS5 Proxy 

SOCKS4 only supports TCP application, while SOCKS5 supports TCP and UDP applications. SOCKS5 Private Proxy Servers, also supports various authentication mechanisms and domain name resolution (DNS), which does not go with SOCKS4

Security aspect of Socks5 Proxy 

Socks5 itself does nothing to protect your data. It simply allows you to proxy your connections through another connection. Any traffic coming out the other side of the Socks5 tunnel is not encrypted. Since you are establishing the Socks5 Ssl Private Proxy, on local host, that first unencrypted part is completely internal to your computer, so it doesn't matter that it is unencrypted.
