Herbs in your own kitchen ‘pharmacy’
WE have two ‘pharmacies’ in our kitchen – one is the refrigerator, and the other is the spice rack. Last week we focused on spices, today we talk herbs. Herbs and spices are the kings of kitchen medicines. Heating the spices and herbs activates the healing properties within the spice. Aim to add 1 teaspoonful of spice to a meal every day to get the best beneďŹ ts. Here are some herbs to make part of your garden: Basil: Beautiful aroma, goes well with tomatoes for bruschetta or
Thai dishes such as Thai soups or laksa. Easily dried for use in winter. Oregano: Strong against infections and parasites. Chop and add to pasta sauce, red meat dishes, feta cheese covered in olive oil, Italian dishes. Thyme: Stunning garden plant with antiseptic properties. Add a few bruised leaves to boiled water. Mint settles the stomach, freshens the breath and clears heat from the body on a hot day or if a fever is present. Both herbs and spices should be a daily part of your food “pharmacyâ€?. By Diana Bienvenu WANGARATTA AUDIOLOGY SERVICES Wangaratta Audiology has been helping people with hearing problems to communicate better for twenty years!! We have grown from one audiologist with limited receptionist assistance in 1998 to five audiologists and three reception staff now. We have also welcomed some very young additions to the clinic “family and look forward to another arrival soon. Wangaratta Audiology, the first permanent private Audiology clinic in this area, has maintained its focus on providing high-quality hearing services to people of all ages. We enjoy doing the specialized testing needed by young children and understand the hearing difficulties experienced by adults. Following Wangaratta Audiology’s inception in May 1998, the provision of hearing aids became possible. We are accredited to provide hearing services to pensioners and eligible DVA clients and we also have many clients who have purchased their hearing aids privately.
We offer clients a hearing aid trial when they are considering options with amplification. We promise to let you know when you need to do something about your hearing loss, but we will not push you into getting hearing aids which are inappropriate or which you cannot afford. We moved into our permanent home at 82 Docker Street in 2004, commencing an ongoing
