Ireland: Faith and Rugby
Real Adventure in Catholic Tradition and Sport July 12 - July 21, 2017 Ireland: Faith and Rugby Bringing Catholic ruggers together for an unforgettable pilgrimage in Ireland. MISSION To give you the chance to see Ireland, grow in the Faith and become an extraordinary rugby player.
Trip Leader Joe Long founded ProRome Tours in 2014 to give young men the opportunity to see the world and grow deeper in the Catholic Faith. His nine years of rugby experience (two years as captain of Christendom Cursaders) and love for the Emerald Isle have him very excited for this trip.
TRIP OVERVIEW Spiritual Formation Morning mass in the traditional language of the Church will provide a firm foundation for our mission. We'll complement that with daily prayers. Rugby A series of practices and matches against worthy Irish opponents will develop your abilities as an individual player while greatly challenging and developing you to grow into a leader and unifier on the pitch.
Coach Garret van Beek is a highly successful rugby coach with 15 years of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate level. He has led his teams to various state (PA) and tournament titles. He is currently the head coach of Gregory the Great Academy (PA) formerly St. Gregory’s Academy.
Pilgrimage Trips to Ireland's most beautiful and holy places will challenge you to strive for holiness. Hiking Croagh Patrick is just the beginning. Fraternity & Adventure Fraternity is one of the great hallmarks of Catholic and Western civilization. We will do everything together - from daily Mass and rugby to exploring the mountains of Connemara to enjoying traditional music and drink in a real pub. Culture and Tradition We’ll experience the real Ireland firsthand at Ross Castle, our home just outside of Galway city. From the green fields and forests to the 16th century halls of the estate we’ll be truly immersed in the beauty of old Ireland from start to finish.
Chaplain Fr. Neal Nichols has faithfully served the Church for fifteen years as a Catholic priest. He has also served as a contract priest for the army and has extensive experience leading group trips abroad.
